EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I called Rose on a Monday and made an appointment for the Friday of that same week at 5pm. I chose this day because I had a number of events in the following days for which it would be nice to have freshly done hair, including a presentation, 2 public singing engagements, and several holiday parties. I had a lot going on, as it was the holiday season, and I planned my week around the timing of my hair appointment. After agreeing to the time, Rose asked me to send her a text message to confirm. I did so and Rose replied confirmation that she had the appointment down. I sent another text asking her to confirm her address, which Metro stop was closest, and how I should prepare my hair prior to the appointment. She replied with her address. She did not answer my other questions.
On the Friday of my appointment I put my work aside and headed out en route to Rose's house. The trip would require 2 trains and a bus and take about an hour. Once on the bus, I realized it was running a few minutes behind schedule, so, out of common courtesy, I texted Rose to tell her I might be a few minutes late. Her reply: "Who is this?". I gave her my name and reminded her that I had a 5pm appointment. She then asked if we could reschedule because there was something wrong with her phone and she "couldn't call anybody". At this point I was on a bus on the way to her house and the appointment was due to begin in 15 minutes. I felt shock, then disbelief, then anger. I asked a series of questions which Rose answered with a combination of excuses and other comments indicating she intended to accept zero responsibility for flaking on the appointment. I asked if she had written down the appointment (like any professional running a legitimate business). She said she had, but only in her allegedly broken phone. Given the unreliability of electronics you'd think writing appointments down in a second location might be a good idea. As I was already almost at her house I told her I would be willing to wait a bit if she needed a little more time to deal with her phone issue. She said she was at the Apple store and did not know how long she would be there and could I come another day. At this point I was so sickened by her unprofessional behavior and her refusal to be held accountable that I reasoned I would be best served going elsewhere for my hair needs. I was also on a bus to Godknowswhere and needed to figure out where to get off and how to get home. So, just to be clear, this woman (Rose) made some number of appointments then, when her phone allegedly broke and she realized she couldn't call anybody or see when their appointments were, she did not stick around to keep her appointments. She took off, aware that people who had made appointments would likely show up at her house to find her gone. And when asked about the logic of these choices she made lame excuses and refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing or the obvious faults in her logic. Do yourselves a favor. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. read more
