WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!
Since moving to London 5 years ago, I have been travelling up north every few months to have my hair cut & coloured with my usual salon, but due to the cost of travel & the inconvenience of it all, I thought it was time to book in to get my hair done somewhere closer to home. After lots of careful research & review reading, I decided to book an appointment for a colour with the Rose & Crown. This turned out to be the worst hair experience of my life!
To make the transition easier, I asked my usual hair salon what colour dye/toner they used on my hair & called the Rose & Crown to confirm they used L'oreal professional colouring system and had the dye/toner in stock. I spoke to a Brazilian? guy who seemed annoyed about my request and was short with me, I wish I had taken this as a sign but I put this weird exchange down to the language barrier & booked my appointment.I arrived at my appointment to the same Brazilian guy.The salon was very cold & there was hair everywhere but I didnt have time to register this as the guy without saying a word ushered me to a chair,I asked him what dye he would be using to which he smirked & shook his head. I was flabbergasted by his rudeness & didn't understand the problem. He then aggressively ran his fingers through my hair & seemed angry that I had thick hair, I asked him what the problem was & he abruptly replied that I would have to pay more, to which I told him I would. At this point, astounded by his attitude I was about to make excuses & leave but Rick(owner) came out & was very friendly & welcoming, he offered me a drink & he put me at ease. I felt reassured by this & again, put the hairdressers rude behaviour down to a translation issue. In the back of my mind I felt what could possibly go wrong? All this guy had to do was put the same colour/toner on my hair that my usual hair salon had been doing for for the past 10 years. Well, it turns out a lot actually! This guy started straightening my hair, roughly tugging and pulling my hair to the point that I had to physically lean forward to prevent him pulling my neck back. I told him he was hurting me but he didn't care. I asked him why he was straightening my hair. Never in my life has a hairdresser had to straighten my hair before applying colour. He again smirked& said I had "way too much hair and just he couldn't work with it". He kept the straighteners on my hair for so long that you could SMELL MY HAIR BURNING. To my horror, I looked down and saw lots of strands of my hair on the ground, like I had had a hair cut! I told him, I didn't want him to use the straighteners and just to put the hair straight as it has alway been done, he said it was impossible to do otherwise! Is this guy actually trained?! By now I knew I had to leave but it was my 30th birthday the following week & due to work commitments, I had no other time to get my hair done. After an hour of aggressive straightening, pulling and tugging my hair was now 'ready' to be coloured. It took him 4 hours to put the bleach through my hair. 4 HOURS. Throughout the entire experience, he continued to smirk, roll his eyes, tut and aggressively pull my hair. I must have told him over 10 times he was hurting me him & asked him to use a comb/brush to separate my hair instead of ripping it with his fingers. I knew that this was a massive mistake but keeping thinking all this guy had to do was apply the same colour as I've always had. My appointment was at 11am & it was now 4pm. This hairdresser then told me he was going to take a break for lunch. I told him the bleach at the top of my head had been on for 4 hours, he said it would be fine & he would be back within 10 minute. It was 45 minutes later that he returned & washed the bleach out! After washing off the bleach MY HAIR WAS ALUMNUS YELLOW/GREEN! I was utterly horrified, the guy looked panicked, which just goes to show his complete lack of knowledge as it is common sense not to leave bleach on hair for so long! He told me he would put the toner on & this would rectify it. He roughly slapped the toner on my head and left me sat their for over an 1 HOUR with dripping wet hair! The salon is ABSOLUTELY FREEZING, you can actually see you breath when you breath out! I had totally lost my rag at this point & got up to find him & demanded he wash out the toner.Low & behold, after washing the toner out my hair remained ALUMUS YELLOW/GREEN! He then began shouting saying the dye/toner wasn't right for my hair. I told him that is what my hair salon have used for years & nevertheless if that's what he felt why didn't he question it beforehand??? I left the salon in tears & went into the Blue Tit, Kuki & DKUK salons all in Peckham & all said my hair had been damaged due to over bleach & all pigment had been stripped out of my hair. I complained to Rick who pathetically offered no apology or advice. To sum up an awful unclean, freezing salon with unprofessional and untrained staff. read more
