I have been going to Fresh on and off for about 3 years now. The haircuts haven't been astoundingly brilliant. They've been okay, and since my curly hair is easy to screw up, I've been "okay" with "okay" as a mother of two, meaning that I don't leave with a haircut that looks like a texturised mullet.
But the last time that I went there I was astonished by the lack of refinement and customer service that accompanied my haircut, the conditioning treatment, the blowout and the mani/pedi all of which cost me upwards of £200 with tip when I left.
Chris, a nice guy, gave me a hair cut which was just a bit of a trim, but still cost me £60. At closer look my hair has an odd triangular shape to it. Further, I requested a conditioning treatment (£35-40) which lasted for about 5 days, and felt I could have achieved this "shine" with a hair mask just as well. What I don't like is that he once used a brush on my hair that had someone else's hair on it. I called him on it, and he dismissed my concern.
Now the mani/pedi topped it all. I would never ever go there for a beauty treatment again. First of all, I booked what was a full mani/pedi and asked for gels since I was travelling to a wedding in the US and wanted the finish to stay. The beautician was kind enough to fit the gels in, but at an expense of doing a very mediocre and rushed job.
Three days later, the finish started to peel. The grey polish that the beautician applied wasn't even opaque. You could see through it. And my heels, after paying about £55 were still rough. This was supposed to be a luxurious experience, and I didn't leave feeling pampered. Also, I was charged £15 whopping quid to get the gels off of 6 of my toes. That's right, off 6 of my toes. I wasn't even informed of this cost!! Further, to do the pedicure, I had to sit in an awkward position on the spa bed and put my feet in a bucket to let them soak. It was so odd and uncomfortable.
When I checked out, the owner/manager behind the desk asked me if all was okay, and I said, yes, it was fine. But only when I got home did I realise that my cuticles were still dry, my heels remained calloused, and my blow-out was already frizzing up. There was no massage to my feet and barely a massage to my hands. What a rip-off!!!
I sent an email to info@freshlifestyle.co.uk to complain about the treatments. And then I sent a follow up when no one replied. I received an email that my email was forwarded to someone named Zen. To that final email, I received no response. I am utterly shocked at the lack of loyalty to customers who have been regular for years,
I have been to Angel Therapy Rooms right down the road near Camden Passage. The beauticians are very professional, attentive, and classy there. The rooms are also beautiful. That I never had to sit uncomfortably to suit the position of the beautician tells me that the customer comes first there. Because I feel pampered when I leave Angel Therapy rooms, I will continue frequenting their services. Next time, I will think twice about having any beauty treatments done at Fresh. It's a total farce and you pay a lot for it.
Also, the coffee that they serve is watery and tastes very close to instant. read more
