We bought an item from the 6.00 display she charged us $8 we didn't say anything because we like to support vendors at the farmers markets. We took it home and it was good but I couldn't get past the customer service. She didn't greet us she just stared at us when we told her which one we would take, she just asked cash or card we paid her she handed us the item with nothing more said, No thank you no smile no nothing. So as far as the food item goes, it was good but the customer service we received was absolutely terrible. Definitely should send someone more friendly and approachable to sell at the farmers markets. read more

We've probably passed up this place 100 times not knowing it was there since we only drive up 108 ..turned off to take my wife to the thrift store and saw this place...Very nice space and great breads,pastries and some oil,jarred peppers and service! . I bought some bread and pastries from here. Everything was very fresh and you can tell by the feel, smell, and taste of the baked goodies. Service was great and you can tell the owner really prides himself in making quality products. He even gave me instructions on how to preserve some sandwich rolls I bought to ensure they keep well if we were going to eat them later. Tried Rosa's at the Natomas Night Market. Service was amazing and descriptive which helped me make my mind up because I wanted to try it all! Had the Bearclaw, cinnamon twist, and a couple others that I can't remember. One had a cream and pineapple with layers of Phillo dough and the other was almond something with almonds on top. All of it was delicious and perfectly balanced, not too sweet and I loved them. Went well with my coffee the next morning. read more

Tried the lemon custard napoleon from the Midtown Farmers Market in Sacramento and it was delicious! Waited until my bf got off work to eat it hours later and it was still so fresh tasting! Rosa's Portugues Bakery has an oncoming prescence at local farmers markets. i may have seen them in the past and forgotten about them. saw them again in Alameda recently. all of the familar European pastries were unpriced. i sought out Portuguese items. only 2 available. Lemon Finger Cookie (8) 7 was partially blacken out. -round circular hard baked cookies with lemon filling on top. -lasted over 2 weeks as stated though the dough flavors are getting muted. -probably made with flour, a little sugar and butter. no aftertaste Portuguese biscotti (8) -tasted basically the same as the Lemon Finger Cookie sans the Lemon filling, doesn't have nuts like the European version, a poor man's biscotti?. on line recipes makes this very easy to duplicate. 3.5 stars convenience major reason for 4 stars. since most bake items aren't healthy nutrition wise. doubtful repeat. read more

Customer service was great. We chanced upon Rosas in San Leandro downtown farmer's market. It is best to get there by 3 pm; I arrived at 5;30ish and just had what's left. Kids love their goodies. I got almost everything in the pics for school snack. Pricey though. Average $5 for each pastry and they're not thick or overflowing. read more

The pastries are incredible. Our favorites are the lemon and blueberry pastries. The cinnamon rolls are huge and delicious. They have cannolis too. We first tasted their pastries at the street fair in Modesto. Since then, we drive to Escalon to get them literally right out of the oven. read more

Well, first of all we were at Kaiser Vallejo for a 9:00 am appointment. So my husband and I came early to get a decent parking spot. I totally forgot that they have Farmer's market on Fridays! After my doctor's visit, hubby and I hurriedly checked out the vendors and to my surprise we come across Rosa's Portuguese and European Bakery booth. We were both hungry for breakfast so croissants were definitely calling our names! Chocolate croissants, cheese danish, almond croissants, Napoleon, and chocolate cannolis were our choices! They were so delicious that we want to go back for more! I found out that they are not local! Their bakery is in Escalon, CA. An hour and a half drive close to Stockton, CA. Amazing! I love the coconut and almond cannolis, and fresh apple and raspberry turnovers. The strawberry finger cookies are also very good, and there is a variety available. Next time I will try the cinnamon rolls because those looked amazing. Excellent customer service inside a clean bakery lots of fresh products available. I shared it with my Bible study group and everyone loved the fresh pastries. It's a quick drive from Riverbank or Modesto. Must try! read more

They were one of the vendors at the 2022 Folsom Peach Festival. I was in a long line of people who helped them sell out of their pies. They sold strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, peach, apricot etc and other pastries. I purchased the peach and apricot pies at their raised price of $20 each. I say raised because their sticker price was clearly marked $15 and it was crossed out by a green marker and $20 written over it. Perhaps a last min change to make even more money at this event, taking advantage of people. The peaches in the peach pie were melted and watery. The apricot was glued together by a syrup of pure sugar, sane thickness as corn syrup. Both pies were a SUGAR BOMB! So sweet in fact I barely could taste the fruit itself and I wasn't able to take another bite ! What a waste of $40, nothing worse than to get totally ripped off for pies no better than at a grocery store that is already typically laden with sugar masking over substandard ingredients. read more

I tend not to go out to Escalon, but I was delighted to see their baked goods at Perry's Fruit Stand on the 99-frontage road in Manteca between Lathrop & French Camp Roads. The cannolis are delicious but the center is always hallow. For $5, I expect it to be overflowing with filling but an inch inside is always empty. Really disappointing. You're better off getting your cannolis from Pietro's in Lodi where they give you extra filling on the side and covered in crushed pistachios $6 or plain cannolis from Whole Foods for $3. read more

My daughter and I are both huge fans of Rosas Bakery stands. We usually see them at either the Folsom Farmer's Market or the Midtown Farmer's Market. The sell all kinds of bread and pastries. My daughter's go-to is usually a chocolate croissant, or a cannoli (which I would note is a very Latino-ized version of cannoli). I personally love their fruit tarts and turnovers. I don't even know which one is my favorite, because they're all my favorite. Some of the ones coming to mind that I've tried and loved are cherry, apricot, and blackberry. They are about as good as the ones sold at Apple Hill. Whether or not the booth takes food stamps depends on the market. Currently, I'm pretty sure that every location except for Folsom accepts EBT. Staff has always been friendly and service has always been prompt. They do build up a bit of a line during peak hours, but that's because they're popular, because their treats are delicious. read more

We ordered the following: (I am not sure what the exact names of the pastries were, but hopefully these are self explanatory.) Raspberry turnover - It was packed with raspberry and apple filling and practicality spilled over the sides. It was flaky and cooked perfectly. Broccoli+cheese+red pepper mini pizza - The flavors were a flavorful combo and perfect as a snack. Napoleon cake - The crust was nice and flaky. There was a lot of cream though which was a bit sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll probably love it. Ham + cheese bun - This is best eaten warm so good to warm it up before eating. There was probably more bun than filling so maybe not a good ratio balance, but It was still good. We'll definitely buy from them again! read more

One of the great injustices in food is the lack of Portuguese markets and bakeries close by. However, this does give us an excuse for a road trip, so off to Escalon! We've been buying Rosa's Bakery products at farmer's markets for years so we know they're good but going to the source is better, mainly because everything is a bit fresher. The other advantage is the small assortment of packaged foods. Tremoços, tinned fish, Piri Piri sauce, Goulart's linguiça and chouriço and various Portuguese cheeses and butter. We picked up a few of these items as well as a variety of biscoitos, sweet bread, Pasteis de Nata and Quiejadas. All of these bakery items were fresh and so delicious! We needed a trip to the gym when we got home (of course we didn't go to the gym because we're fat). I highly recommend a visit, but if you can't get there, look for their goodies at your local farmer's market! read more

Came across Rosa's Bakery Stand at the Dublin Farmers' Market. They had many yummy goodies. I was planning to get the cannoli but as I got closer to the display, the golden and flaky napoleon caught my eye and called my name. The napoleon was so puffy that the guy had a hard time putting it inside the paper bag. The napoleon was perfectly flaky and buttery. It was filled with a generous amount of Bavarian cream which unfortunately was too sweet for me, especially towards my last bites. Despite this minor flaw, it's definitely a very well-made sweet treat that takes skills and worth the $4 price tag. read more

This place has good products. The senior lady is in the rude side. I do not if is a personal issue or a cultural issue. Services business is very difficult and owners or employees should know their limitations. Also, be aware the no all the costumers are Portuguese or know the Portuguese food. You are selling a product unknown to many. You need to be the teacher. Introduce your product. In other words, be an ambassador of your culture. I was born in Lisbon and honestly I am not familiar with the Madeirense or azorian products. Keep in mind, your products are NO GENUINE. Your products are your version of the genuine products. The city of Escalon in San Joaquin County calls itself "The City of Peaches&Cream." Rosa's Portuguese Bakery out of Escalon provides the cream. They're a presence at farmer's markets in the Central Valley (like Stanislaus County) as well as the one in Napa, where they recently opened a stand. They have an amazing array of pastries- from creamy Napoleons, to luxurious cannoli, and savory jalapeno bagels&pizza croissants. Their variety is stunning, the service friendly, and prices reasonable ($4 usually) Rosa's refreshingly lacks pretension. Their baked goods are visually pleasing, but I doubt they have an Instagram account, nor do they have folks lined up for hours to take selfies with their fruit tarts. Their cannoli with chocolate chips are simple sweet goodness. Their store in Escalon offers Portuguese sweet breads, as well as Portuguese sodas&instant coffees.
