Established in 1870, Andrea Rosa offered "home-delivered meals" for the Venetian palaces and villas. Today, spread across six generations, Rosa Salva is a renowned pastry shop situated near the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo in the Castello district of Venice.
This establishment offers a variety of traditional Venetian pastries, including bignè filled with zabaglione cream, Cannolo Siciliano, and pistachio croissants as well as homemade gelatos.
My partner, our friends, family member, and I arrived in the mid-afternoon on a Sunday after our visit to Murano and the gondola ride nearby for some sweet treats. The outside terrasse was busy in the late morning and early afternoon, but beware of the pigeons.
Some of us went inside and unfortunately didn't see much of a selection. Instead we opted for some gelatos such as mango & coconut , strawberry and lemon, and mango. All accompanied a nice wafer. They were good and fulfilled our needs. The price was comparable to the area. The staff was not welcoming as they need to be a bit motived.
A real shame for a place that has a long tradition in Venice. read more
