These are moments that I'll never get back and I had to have them captured and Katie exceeded my hopes of merely recording these important memories. For my daughter's 18 month pictures Katie asked me to bring some of her favorite toys or items that would make her feel comfortable and would allow Katie to catch her at her natural moments of joy, which made for a customized photo of a little girl with a big smile! It didn't hurt that Katie is a mother too and understood how to get my little girl to smile and trust her while she snapped her pictures. Then, we recently met to honor this milestone in our lives of a sister on the way! My daughter is now two years old and was showing all of her age that day. So, even though my daughter was a little cranky that day Katie still managed to calm her down and even got some of the biggest smiles from her that I've ever seen! These pictures mean more to me than I can ever express and I would most definitely refer her to anyone that is looking for an excellent family photographer. One more point that I want to convey is that the quality of the pictures are very high. I enlarged one and had it made into a canvas painting and guests always compliment us on the vivid colors and sweet picture. I am a writer and my first book (a YA novel) is coming out in the fall. I didn't want to include my pic on the book, but the publisher insisted. He also insisted on a professional pic. I chose Kelly after seeing her great Yelp reviews. And she has earned all the praise, and more! Even before I met her for the photo shoot, she was awesome-- kind, responsive, helpful, warm (and sometimes it's hard to be all that just over email). We ended up meeting at Overlook Park in GT for the shoot, and she encouraged me to bring an extra outfit if I wanted to change (b/c I got 2 different poses). Not only is she just as nice, warm, kind, gracious, and attentive in person, she is incredibly skilled as well. She put me at ease SO quickly (I was SO nervous, y'all!! I'm a writer b/c I want to stay hidden in my words...i don't want pics of me!), and before I knew it, I was actually having fun!! I couldn't believe it. That is a gift Kelly has, knowing what each person needs and then being able to adapt accordingly. I'm so grateful I met her. So the shoot was great, but then I got the proof gallery with SO many shots I loved (it was hard to select just 2, much to my amazement...I had thought I'd have trouble picking one b/c I typically hate pics of myself). So that process was awesome, and then she sent me the edited shots and I marveled at her great skill as an artist. Really, she has such an eye for the art of photography at every single level. We found Kelly online by accident and are so thrilled that we did! We met with Kelly to go over budget and our vision for our pictures at the beginning of the year. Not only did Kelly work with our budget but she drove down to Houston (where we live and work like crazy) to take our engagement pictures! She helped us with our unique vision for those pictures and the results were amazing! For our wedding Kelly came early and stayed late. She put up with the heat and got every shot we wanted, all by herself. She wrangled our family and friends and was friendly but professional the whole time. When getting married, the one thing I wanted to make sure I had more than anything was beautiful, true-to-life pictures of the wonderful patchwork of family and friends that would likely never be together in the same room in the same combination again. Not only did Zach deliver photos more gorgeous than I could've imagined, I had zero stress about it in the run up to the event. It was fantastic to be able to talk candidly to Zach about what I wanted and feel heard. I wish this was the case with all wedding vendors! Zach shot our engagement and wedding photos on the San Antonio Riverwalk. We talked before hand and I told him I'm not a staged pinterest-y bride, but I wanted beautiful candid shots with bold, bright colors, and he did not disappoint. I received hundreds of incredible photos back within two weeks of the event, and literally wept in an airport while looking through them because he was so able to capture the love and fun of our event. It was such a whirlwind night that there were parts I didn't even remember that I got to see waiting for me in the photos. He did an incredible job prioritizing the people that matter to us so I could see in my family's faces how they were feeling. He caught all the important moments and then some, and we even threw in a dog and some children to make his job hard, and he handled it all with aplomb.
