Yesterday I had Jayson from Rooter-Man at my house to clear the drain pipe from my house to the street. It was just starting to back up and I called to avoid a real mess. Jayson did an excellent job. He snaked the pipe twice to be sure he got all the roots out of it and made sure water was flowing before he left the house. He got the machine into the basement by himself without damaging the property and there was no mess to clean up because he was so careful. Recently a drain (the main line) in my home needed service as it was beyond my capacity to handle. I have used Rooter Man of Methuen previously for my services. It had been quite a while since I have needed there service. I called on a Sunday and they said someone would be available within the hour. Having not used there service in a while, I was wondering what the "character" of the Service Tech was going to be like (who's going to visit my home and service the line). Jeff was "great' he gave an intro to himself.. surveyed the problem and totally explained what we were dealing with and fully explained a few scenarios of the drain set up in my home. We had an emergency with our clothes washer water spilling out of the pipes unto the basement floor. We had Rooterman's name and number written in our business card index. Our plumber gave us their number. My husband called immediately and we were lucky enough to have the team come immediately. They figured out the issue and fixed it. My husband said he was going to have the tank pumped. Jason said that they pump tanks. It was not to too long after, we were having our tank pumped. What a great job they did! I was getting jerked around by other plumbers who wanted to dig up my sewer drain to the tune of $12,500 after I had already paid them $1400. Mark fixed the drain for $800. WOW! Not only was I impressed by his honesty and integrity, but his intelligence and knowledge as he explained my drain problems and gave me options. Came the day after Christmas which gets them a second star. Unfortunately the one person who came did not want to carry their professional snake upstairs and cleared the drain with a hand snake, the same kind I have in my garage and have used myself. Same drain clogged three times in the next month; after the third time I asked my wife what they had actually done and found out we paid $250 for something I could have done myself (and did not fix the problem). I contacted them to ask if they have any guarantee or warranty on their work and never heard back from them (guess that's my answer). If it's a holiday and you've called 10 places that can't come out because they actually know what they are doing and have regular customers then call these people but plan to have to call a real professional to actually fix the problem ASAP. read more

Late last night, 2 days before Thanksgiving, we discovered sewage in our basement - back-up from the septic system. Never had this problem before. Called several places. Spoke with answering services and left messages. Rooterman was the only one who called back and although didn't come out in the middle of the night, was here between 8-9 AM today as promised. In less than 1 hour the problem was fixed. The gigantic mess I expected did not occur. Jeff, the technician, was fabulous: personable and respectful and best of all, he fixed the problem. (yay!) My huband and I are first-time homeowners (read: clueless). When our septic tank was causing our appliances to not drain properly, and our basement to flood (on New Years Eve with a house full of guests, no less), we called Rooter Man North and they showed up the same day. It took some time for the first guy to find our pump, but his supervisor came out and things went smoothly from there. They found a clog in the motor, fixed that, and pumped the tank. They were patient when we were looking for our Title V and stayed until they were sure the clog had been fixed and that we would not run into further problems. It was freezing that night, and they could have easily left and returned the next day when the sun was back out and it was warmer... however they stayed until the job was completed and charged us reasonably. One of the pipes froze during last weeks cold days. The pipe was bursting out of the wall and water was gushing all the way in to the cellar. I called this company and tried to get him over here asap. The response was I can but I wont come over today? This was disturbing to say the least. I figure everyone has there reasons so I put the phone down and called the next one. read more

I had a clogged drain and called them for service. I asked for a price so there would be no surprise after they arrived. They decided that they needed to remove a toilet, although there are clean-outs available. They had quoted $250 for the first 100 feet of cleaning. The clog was about 10 feet away from the toilet and less than five feet from the clean-out. They wouldn't use the clean-out and wanted another $110 to R & R the toilet. So now the total is $360. I refused to be exploited and paid them $120 to go away. Now, I understand from others that have called them that this is their standard procedure. At $250 I would have paid a professional. At $360 I say no! I went to Home Depot and bought a snake and cleaned it out myself. read more

I own a three unit apartment house in Haverhill, all family occupied. I initially thought I had a blocked sewer vent. I phoned Monday morning and a tech, Mike, arrived quickly, and went to assess the problem. He found a much bigger problem...a 133 year old cast iron pipe had rusted out beneath the cement floor. He had to chip through and dig out several small holes to get to the cleanouts as previous owners had cemented over them. He was able to assess the entire situation and to make it possible for the households to use water and use toilets the rest of that day and night until it could be completely repaired the next day. The next day, Mike arrived with a second worker, also Mike, and they both worked all day digging a trench, removing shelving that blocked access to the pipe, replacing the pipe,and backfilling. These guys got rid of the debris, and cemented the floor. I have already suggested this company to friends if their services are needed. To anyone reading this review and needs a drain cleaning service, I can assure you this company is fantastic. Ask for "older Mike", the tech to come to your house. I would use Rooter Man again without hesitation. Thank you. read more
