Generator Pro (Nashua) and NH Generator Installers (Concord) were the two companies that had the generator installation process down to a science as well as good reviews on other sites. We brought both companies out to give us quotes and the work came out to about the same price in both cases. We ended up choosing Generator Pro because (a) we didn't have to chase them down for the estimate after the visit, (b) the owner personally did the site visit for the estimate and seemed like a really good guy and (c) their communication skills were noticeably better than their competitor. Generator Pro ended up being great every step of the way to the finish line. The installation process is coordinated by Michelle, who is incredible at her job. When you undertake a complex job such as a generator installation, the person coordinating the work is just as important as the people actually performing the work. There are numerous steps along the way--choosing the right generator, getting it delivered and "set", gas hookup, electrical hookup, inspection, etc--and most of it has to happen in a certain order around the buyer's schedule. Some of the work needed to be outsourced to 3rd parties, such as gas work and electrical work. Generator Pro chose very friendly and competent workers for these tasks that we were happy to welcome into our home. When the generator process was complete, the owner (Doug) drove over to give us a personalized tutorial on usage. When you spend this amount of money on a purchase, you want to feel great about it every step of the way. He adjusted the valves, oil and filter change, cleaned the battery terminals that had NEVER been cleaned, replaced the air filter and other things. He took his time and was very thorough. Prior to finding Evan, I had a company out of Templeton that installed the unit do my annual maintenance. Evan said that the corrosion that was on the battery terminals wasn't the result of one year. Unfortunately, we've had some issues with the unit over the years, and this company becomes less and less visible with each and every time that they are needed. I would say that Kohler is the brand to go with but find another authorized installer and service company that handles Kohler, which is not this company. They are a one tech company with owners who are completely removed from the day to day.

Chamberlin sent the Bill Donoghue, who arrived early, at 2:15 p.m, on 6/30/26. He stated that they could not install the generator at the North end of my house, because they could not tap into the basement propane pipe that extends the 54 feet from the South end of my house, where the propane meter is, to the North end of the house, where the 200 amp Transfer Switch would be located next to the circuit breaker box. He asserted that they would have to install it at the South end of the house and tap into the main line pipe coming off the propane meter. Then they would have to fish wire through the sheetrock-covered ceiling of the finished room at the South end of the basement and run it the rest of the way through the unfinished basement to the Transfer Switch. On 7/10/25 I received the email quote from Traci in their Sales & Marketing Department. My research for this project indicates that it is a competitive quote, so for now I'm giving them 3 stars since it took 10 days to get the quote. I plan on choosing a contractor on 9/3/26, and if Chamberlin is chosen and does an outstanding job, I'll update my rating to 5 stars."
