From start to finish, my encounter with Root Down exceeded my expectations. I contacted the salon on Facebook, to express desire in establishing a home salon with them because I'll be moving to the area in about six months. I was in town the next day to view a home, and did not expect them to offer an appointment, but they had an opening. We scheduled it around my house showing, and even with my realtor being late they were very understanding about me showing up 10 mins behind time. (I made sure to let them know.) The salon is well appointed and has top of the line salon gear. Chad, the salon owner, was fun to interact with and he assisted Maggie in choosing the perfect color combination. Chad is quite knowledgeable in the chemistry of blending and it shows. Maggie was a joy to work with. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and my hair couldn't have been more true to what I asked for. My hair has body, movement, and looks fabulous. I've gotten many compliments from my friends. I was in the area for a few days for a speaking engagement and need to find a salon - was specifically looking for one that carries the line I use at home in NJ. Just my luck I found the perfect place! As a man approaching 50 I do like to color my hair to blend the gray - especially if I have an event. As a human the products I use need to be something at the very least eco friendly and sustainable. The team at RD are fantastic, but more importantly kind and fun. Truthfully I felt bad when the service was done because I didn't know anyone else in the area and my 2 hours there were such a great experience. I am also appreciative of the local recommendations of things to do. I can't thank them enough for making me feel so at home. They also had something brand new that my salon back home didn't have yet for those that shave or have any version of a beard. Great place all around! read more

Molly is my stylist. She's very smart with the scissors and I leave with a cut I really like. Molly has other qualities that make her stand out. She listens. Did you hear that? She listens. I'm not a stylist so when I ask her to do something additional to my hair cut and she agrees she does it. If she doesn't agree she'll make other suggestions and tell me why it's the better option.
