Root & Rise is a community-centered transformational studio offering yoga, meditation, workshops, and community events, and is a part of Chatsworth's West End Arts Collective. We are a communal space to move, breathe, connect, and remember yourself.
Our classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible to real bodies and real lives, whether you're brand new to yoga, returning after a break, navigating pain or limitation, or deepening a long-standing practice. In addition to yoga, we offer somatic experiences, transformational workshops, and community events.
Our teachers provide thoughtful classes, clear guidance, and an environment where you don't have to "keep up" or be anything other than yourself. Here, yoga is a practice of liberation; learning to listen inward, build capacity, and live with greater presence, agency, and compassion.
Our pricing options arise from the view that this space is an expression of collective care that ensures anyone may participate in classes regardless of current financial capacity, whether real or perceived. We ask that all participate with honesty and awareness of our shared ecosystem, where each of us supports the space and offerings we benefit from in any way we can.
This is a space to slow down, breathe, connect, and rise together.
History
Established in 2025.
Root & Rise was born out of the owner's commitment to liberation after living with depression and anxiety for over 20 years. This led to an awareness of who we really are and of the interdependence of all life. This recognition, coupled with a willingness to lean into the supports around her, gave way to the studio's birth. She sees the body as an access point to something bigger than our individual self: a way to explore life and the energy that is greater than us. The studio welcomes all practitioners of every background, level, and experience. Here, yoga and inner work become life-long practices of rooting into who you are and rising into who you are becoming, all within the structure of community. The studio is actively nurturing a shift toward a more reciprocal, gift-oriented way of being in "business"; one that honors shared responsibility, communal care, and the understanding that each person contributes to the whole.
Meet the Business Owner: Andrea D.
Root & Rise was inspired by living in a world that feels divided, where disconnection, lonliness, overwhelm, and polarization are shaping how we relate to ourselves and to one another. I felt a deep call to create a space that invites us back into relationship, starting with the body.
The body is not something to conquer or perfect; it is a doorway into something greater than ourselves. Through embodied practice, we learn to listen, to regulate, to soften the grip of the mind, and to remember what truly matters. Yoga, in its original intention, was designed for liberation: freedom from the patterns that bind us and keep us separate. Here, these practices are both meaningful and practical. They help us show up with more presence, resilience, and care in our families, our work, and our communities. I believe inner work and collective healing are inseparable, and that tending to the body is one way we can cultivate the capacity for peace, connection, and liberation in the world.
