We visited Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch during spring break with our 6-year-old son and had such a great time! My husband and I first visited several years ago and loved it, so we knew it would be a fun place to bring him--and it absolutely was. The animals are so interactive and entertaining. Our favorite experience was with the nectar birds that literally sit on you while they drink. It was such a unique and memorable moment for our son (and honestly for us too!). We also did the monster truck tour, which was fantastic. The guide shared so many interesting facts about ostriches and the ranch itself, and it made the experience even more engaging. It's been really fun to see how much the ranch has grown over the past several years. They've added more experiences and clearly put a lot of care into the place. I came here today for my fix of cute animal! I have been here so many times and every time I come here it is such a wonderful experience. Starting from the employees who are so friendly, to the very cute animals and the well organized operation they have for their business. I always go to each of my favorite stations and I visit sometimes twice during my stay. My favorites are the donkeys and the bunnies. I also love that the tortoises have names on their shell. My favorite ninja Turtles was always Raphael so of course I had to go say hi to him while I was there. I highly recommend anybody to come here and you will have a wonderful experience whether you're a child or an adult. Rooster Cogburn's is a really cool place and honestly a perfect stop if you are driving back to Phoenix from Tucson. We usually stop here on the way home and it never gets old. The price is reasonable and you get a lot for what you pay. It is basically a big outdoor animal feeding and petting experience, but way better than a normal petting zoo. They give you plenty of food and you can spend as much time as you want walking around feeding different animals. They have a great variety too. Ostriches, donkeys, deer, goats, sheep, ducks, birds, and other animals. It is one of those places where you can tell it is meant to be interactive and not just a quick walk through. The staff has always been friendly and the whole place feels well maintained. It is also a fun stop for all ages. Kids would love it, but even as an adult it is still a good time. If you want something different to break up the drive, Rooster Cogburn's is 100 percent worth stopping at. We will definitely keep coming back. read more

This place was a crazy and comical time. We spent $15 for 14 stations of animal feeding and a bonus station of feeding stingrays! The animals were so sweet when feeding them. The ostriches were scary but didn't hurt. A bird did poop on my friend (haha) so don't wear your floor length gowns! Each staff member was so nice and helped guide us around the park. The location was a good pit stop between phoenix and tuscan. The state park right outside is also nice! We didn't time it right for a monster truck show unfortunately. There are a few food options but we didn't grab anything there since some of us were vegetarian. This Ostrich Ranch was so much fun and it made for a cute little road trip on the weekend. It's affordable at just $12-15 admission, which includes plenty of feed for every single animal here. It's basically a giant outdoor petting zoo. They have ostriches, donkeys, deer, ducks, parakeets, bunnies, tortoises, goats, sheep, and even a stingray pool. I've driven by this place a handful of times. I kept telling myself I will stop by as soon as I get the opportunity. Welp, a few years later, I made this my actual destination. I'm glad I finally went! It's really difficult to pick a favorite animal attraction here. I could spend hours feeding and petting these animals. Actually, I think I did. It was probably close to a two hour visit. There's lots of photo opportunities and photogenic critters. :) Based on the numbered system, there are 15 types of animal attractions. However, number 4 was closed on the day that I went. Some of the animals are good about letting you pet while you're feeding them. If you've ever been near an ostrich, you'll know they aren't one of them. The deer seemed tame, but not as social, either. The ones I fed weren't too keen on the pets. I did not try to pet the tortoises. If you didn't opt for the stingray food, they still let you pet them, which was pretty cool. The donkeys, goats, and bunnies were the social ones that didn't mind being petted. I had a great time and I would be back. The venue is worth the small admission price. read more

Decided to finally make the drive to the Ostrich Ranch a couple months ago early in the morning of course being we're in Az & so glad we did just sorry we waited so long! This is a definite must for all those visiting from out of state & locals alike because first of all it's hands on not just for the kiddos but moms & dads too! Myself well I'm the picture taker & hubby got in there with our little one & they had a blast! You have several options when purchasing your admission tickets because a lot of it includes feeding the animals which must only be done with the food they provide! They even sell you the calamari for you to feed the stingrays which is the very last attraction that's in the same building as the gift shop. The Ostrich Ranch is nicely spaced out & also well organized, it takes about 2 hours to go through the whole ranch without rushing through it because there's just so much to enjoy! There's also a very nice gift shop with a nice selection for all to choose a little souvenir to take home! So on that weekend you're stuck on what to do with the family, take a drive down to the Ostrich Ranch... you'll have a blast! read more

We hit Rooster Cogburn's on a March morning that felt more like mid-July, so arriving at opening was the only thing that saved us from melting. The Good: The animals are clearly living their best lives. They are healthy, happy, and have better comedic timing than most stand-up comedians--specifically the donkey who treats his open mouth like a donation bin for snacks. Absolute gold. The staff? Total gems. Kind, patient, and clearly care about the critters. The Not-So-Good: The bus ride. If I wanted to be packed this tightly with strangers, I'd move to NYC and ride the subway at rush hour. For the price of the ticket, I expected a seat, not a "shared lap" experience with the man next to me who couldn't decide if he wanted to stand or sit on my legs. Between being squashed like sardines and the long, stationary "heat-soaks" while waiting for the bus ahead of us to move, my grandsons weren't just learning about ostrich tags--they were basically being slow-roasted. We learned what to do if an ostrich attacks, but I'm still looking for the manual on what to do when a stranger keeps using you as a recliner. The Verdict: 10/10 for the animal park. 2/10 for the bus-shaped sauna. read more

Absolutely loved everything about this place! I had taken my nieces there about 30 years ago and had no idea just how much they had upgraded and expanded it. It was affordable and entertaining. We loved all the different animals that we were able to interact with and feed. The layout was easy to follow while not being overly restrictive. You could go in order, station by station, or wander around however you wanted. There were no time limits and no pressure. We even tried the ostrich breakfast sandwich and enjoyed eating the fluffy, flavorful ostrich egg. The staff was friendly and helpful. A truly memorable experience with my granddaughter. If questionable animal welfare doesn't bother you, this might be your spot. Goats lifted into the air on a scissor lift and a cramped pen packed with donkeys were just a couple of the red flags. Came in on a Friday a bit after opening. The weather was a bit cloudy and rainy but that didn't stop the fun. It's $12 to feed most of the animals or $15 to feed all animals. We opted for the $15 ticket and I felt it was well worth it. You're given 2 buckets of food and watch a mini information video before entering the ranch. The animal enclosures are labeled with numbers to tell you where to start. All the animals on the ranch are pretty well trained. My favorites were the deer and the bunnies! Visited this ranch with friends and their kids. It was my first time seeing an ostrich in person. There were hundreds of them too. I am sure I was more excited than the kids there For the size of the farm and the hundreds of animals there, the place is well kept, clean and hygienic. Animals seem to be taken care of well too. What a wonderful experience!! We took our grandkids (ages 9 & 7) this past Saturday and we all had a blast!! The customer service is incredible! Everyone was helpful and happy!! They also explained thoroughly how to feed the animals!! Every employee was smiling which tells me the culture is positive. Our grandkids liked the bunnies and the goat penthouse the best. My husband and I loved the ostriches. What majestic birds and seeing them up and close was fun. They are aggressive so happy we could put the food in the bins. All the animals were fun to feed. We went here several years ago and then moved to NM two months ago. We loved it so much we decided to go back for our 10th anniversary last weekend and were NOT disappointed. In fact, they had more stuff! We took the Monster Truck ride and thoroughly enjoyed all the silliness as well as the factual information provided. We usually stop here either to or from our trips to Tucson from the Phoenix area. It's a fun little stop to feed the different animals they have on the premises. The most food they'll give you is in a plastic cup filled with the large green pellets made for large herbivores such as the ostrich, deer and goats and there is enough food to feed every type of critter. My favorite animals to feed are the donkeys since they have such soft fuzzy hair that tickles your palm a little when they eat. They are super gentle too. The goats are fun and my little one enjoyed using the "goat penthouse" the most on our last trip. It's a conveyor belt system rigged up so that you put pellets in a cup and turn the handle to make the cup go sky high so that it eventually gets dumped into a trough for the goats to eat. Note that if your kiddo is new to the lorikeet experience you might want to guard their heads for any landing lorikeets. They might not like their heads being used as temporary perches. This ranch was a really fun place. I don't know what I expected but it wasn't this. The outside has cute decor and a bunch of cacti. The inside has sitting space, bathrooms, a little arcade, and vending machines. The employees were all helpful and nice. The prices are $12 or $15 to include feeding the Stingrays. There's a video that shows you how to feed the various animals, and their are signs as well. The animals were AMAZING!!! I loved getting to feed the donkeys, the deer, the ostriches, the goats, chickens, the bunnies, parakeets, the Lorikeets, and the tortoises Most were all first-time experiences, and it was great!!!! The animals all had such cute, silly personalities. It was so worth every second out in the tortuous heat. If I were local, I would be there LOTS. I've never seen so many ostriches in my life!!
