Secure your vehicle, take a deep breath and get ready for a short climbing hike. This hiking trail probably rates as a moderate as it is little more than a gravel and dirt access road to the top. It starts off with a pretty swift incline but as it starts to corkscrew around Nanny's Mountain, it levels off a bit. And before you know it, you're at the top. There is a right turn just before the summit There is a clearing at the top and a large shelter that seems to be set up as a meeting place with a lectern and three rows of seats facing it. There are a couple of trash cans and that's it. No power, no barbecue grill and definitely no restrooms. Be prepared for that. There's also not much of a view from the summit. As it's January, the trees are quite bare so I could see some of the curve of the lake, but that's it. Occasionally, a plane on its way in to CLT. But no view of the skyline or of the surrounding area. I kind of want a view as my reward for a hike/climb. Not one here. Still, it was a nice and peaceful walk. And remember, never hike alone!
