This is a great park that's secluded from the city. It has great walking trails if you want to get in some exercise on the regular, but it also has fields for sports if you're interested in doing that. (For what it's worth, I'm not sure how you go about reserving the fields as I've never done it, but I'm sure calling Parks and Recreation could lead you in the right direction...) I'd go as far as saying this is probably the best park in Gaston County. read more

Now we're talking. This is a huge recreational facility! Big enough that they need signs to tell you how to get to different features. The park has FOUR lighted softball fields, four lighted soccer fields and a volleyball court. There are batting cages, a dog park, a paved greenway, ten miles of hiking/biking/blading trails, a huge horseshoe pit area and several playground equipment setups. The pumptrack looks awesome. Beautiful woods! After a long drive this park was perfect to walk and stretch. So many birds and trees. I recommend stopping here if in the area. There's a small pond and a new floating dock for fishing or enjoyment. I didn't have time to walk the whole place. there are various trails to chose from. read more

My dog slipped right thru the bars on the fence. It might be okay for bigger dogs, but my medium sized dog just kept going like the fence wasn't there. read more

We had a great time. The trail was beautiful. The Lake trail was a perfect afternoon walk and just enough to keep the 10 year old from bouncing off the walls. We took a minute to swing at the playground and also watch the kids on scooters traverse the bike/skate park. read more

NICE PARK. Went there to fish last week got nothing. A guy was running 2 speedboats and zooming them around the lake which was fun to watch but noisy. Lake is a bit of a walk down to the lake kind of a pain but they have a beautiful fishing set up there. They stock the lake but I saw not one fish. Canada Geese quacking around. This is a great place to go for walking trails and cycling, off-road and on road both. There's fishing and a dock to fish from. There are horseshoe pits. George Poston Park has the best dog park within a 30-mile radius. There is a dog park 5-minute drive away from my home but so few dogs go there that my dog has started to think it's his place now. George Poston Park is at least 20- minute drive from me but I try to take my dog there at least once a week. The area for 25+ lbs dog is huge, mostly covered with grass and pine needles, just how I (and the pup) like it. We always meet plenty of friendly dogs and dog owners there, except for one early Sunday morning when we had the park all to ourselves. Besides the dog park, there are very nice hiking/biking trails in the park, totaling 6-8 miles. The trails run through woods on small hills, excellent for mountain biking as well as exploration with your four-legged friends. read more

I didn't think to review a dog park until now. This one deserves the 5 stars. There are two areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. They are completely fenced and have entry areas that are fenced. There are benches for the people to hang out. It is clean, shaded and have water to wash your dog or to drink. It is large with lots of exploring room. It is close to o running track so you can both run,too ..lots of parking well maintained! read more

This is the best dog park I've ever been to. It's huge with open areas for running and plenty of shady parts with benches. The park is well maintained with separate areas for small and large dogs. Great little set of trails to hike just watch out for the bikers. It is one of the few trail systems nearby and its not crowded like crowders mountain. Caution to walkers, bikers can be aggressive. I moved off the trail to allow two bikers to pass and the first slowed and moved to the far side, the second was going very fast and nearly ran both my dog and I over even though we were off trail. read more

What do you look for in a park? Poston Park has lots to offer. It has a dog park and soccer fields, baseball fields and horseshoe pits. It's also very clean and well maintained. What I enjoy the most are the mountain bike trails. It has miles of trails and you can spend the day traveling around the perimeter of the park. The trails range from beginner to advanced. They are easily accessible but can be confusing the first couple of time you ride. read more

Always clean and peaceful. A lot of woodsy area which creeps me out when going alone in evening. Don't come on early Saturdays because the world of soccer takes over every parking space. Has sweet little and big dog parks, cool interactive park, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, horse shoe section, walking and biking trails, volleyball court, cookout shelters and a nice boardwalk like feel over a man made lake where you can fish or relax and watch the water. Excellent place to do yoga...fresh air. Quiet. Hear the birds sing. Feel the breeze. Breathe in breathe out....live strong! A lot of parking spaces to teach teens to drive, skateboard, Rollerblade, learn to ride a bike or motorcycle, play catch with football, practice soccer or baseball skills. I haven't ever found a dog park like this one! The park has a really big area for the dogs to run and every time I go I always meet new ppl. Everyone is always so nice and I never have a problem with any other dogs being mean towards mine. I also have a 4yr old and they have a play area for kids which he loves! There is an area with picnic tables that are covered near the trails. It's a very beautiful area and there are even geese at the lake area where u can fish too :) needless to say, I highly recommend this park for any occasion! read more
