I think there are some troubles here--when I was following the Chicago Scanner hashtag this place always seemed to pop up on it. But I stopped here today and it was pretty nice. I have worked within a couple miles of The Roosevelt Collection since it was built but haven't ever been here. There are a variety of shops and restaurants--children's stores; bargain stores; women's boutiques; even a pediatric dentist. The Container Store has a curbside pickup space. Though there is some parking on the upper level in front of the shops, there's a lot more parking below ground. Parking at both levels is paid. There's also a bus top nearby and the Red Line is only a couple blocks away. In the center portion between the shops and apartments on the sides, there's some gathering space. I saw some comfy looking chairs and stuff for people to hang out and there's a good sized play area for the little ones. It is not a bad little shopping area, but unless I was coming here for a shop that I couldn't find elsewhere I can find most of the other stores closer to me on the north side. read more

This plaza is a scam. They charged double price of parking fee in downtown Chicago, then mailed me an $87 ticket three weeks later -even though I already paid for parking and exited only a few minutes after my time expired. It seems like they will issue an almost $100 ticket just for driving into the plaza even if you don't actually park. There were no gates or clear signs saying payment was required upon entry, yet they still mailed a ticket weeks later. Very misleading and frustrating experience read more

I had a terrible experience with parking enforcement at Roosevelt Collection Shops due to their contractor Parking Revenue Recovery Services (PRRS). I entered the plaza to locate an address and pick up a resident who lives above the shops. I never parked, never left my car, and was simply driving through while trying to find the correct location. Days later, I received a notice claiming I had parked without paying. The only "evidence" provided was entry and exit timestamps from a camera, which proves nothing about actually parking. When I contacted PRRS to explain the situation, I was met with extremely rude and unprofessional behavior from a representative named Jess. Despite repeatedly asking for proof that I had parked, they were unable to provide any. Instead, they insisted that I somehow prove that I did NOT park, which is unreasonable and unacceptable. To make matters worse, when I requested contact information for a manager, my request was ignored. The only response I received was that I needed to pay the charge. This feels like a predatory and dishonest practice. Based on this experience, I will never return to Roosevelt Collection Shops as long as they continue working with PRRS. I am also filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Attorney General. I strongly recommend others be cautious when visiting this location. read more

Do not enter the Roosevelt Collection Shops without fully understanding the potential consequences. Cameras along Roosevelt Road record both entry and exit times for vehicles accessing the property. Even if you do not park, you may receive an $87 notice alleging that your vehicle was on private property in violation of posted rules. The notice further states that if payment is not made within 30 days, the account may be deemed in default and referred to a debt collection agency. Additionally, the notice indicates that by entering the facility, you agreed that any unresolved disputes will be settled through binding arbitration, thereby waiving the right to a jury trial, class action, and/or class arbitration. I contacted the Parking Revenue Recovery Services (PRRS) about their mistake and after explaining that I did not park at the facility, I was told that they will not cancel the notice and I have to pay the citation no matter what. I will never go back to the Roosevelt Collection shops again!!! read more

Horrendous experience in the parking garage. I had validated parking. I got lost in the garage (finding car and following the insane amount of exit signs), and was 4 minutes off from my 2 hours of free parking.... the gate guy would not let me thru, was unsympathetic, and said he had no authority to assist (then what exactly are you doing?). 4 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was only $11, but I'm definitely going to be a sore loser about this, mainly because the gate guy had zero compassion. DO NOT PARK AND SHOP HERE. Roosevelt Collection parking garage contracts with a predatory collection agency called "Parking Revenue Recovery Services." If you park here, they take a photo of your license plate and give your info to this predatory agency which then sends you notices saying you owe them an exorbitant amount of $, claiming you parked but didn't pay the parking fee. But of course you can't even exit the parking garage without paying, so they're just trying to scam you. They allow to "dispute" the charge but you have to prove with a receipt. Who keeps a parking receipt from months ago? This is a predatory collection agency and Roosevelt Collection happily contracts with them. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

It's a nice get away from the main downtown district area where one gets a breath off fresh air. You get the smaller boutique feel for many of these shops. You need to park in their underground garage area since you will enjoy walking around. They are all name brand stores that you know and love. You could take a bus to get there although it take quite some time to get there. People actually live above those shops and so it's a blend of living and shopping. I would drive to the parking area to visit this place. We didn't have a chance to see everything and so go take a scroll for about an hour or so to get a feel of the area. A bit off the beaten path for most people looking for shopping but it's got the only Banana Republic (non "factory" stores) in Chicago now, so it's a bit of a treasure if that's your jam. That plus the Old Navy and you can make a decent dent in a shopping list. Overall the place looked nice. A playground for kids, restaurants options, and we've been the the theater before and enjoyed it. I probably won't go out of my way for just hanging out here, but if shopping is a chore I have, this will be in a conversation before we need to consider a trek out to Old Orchard. PARKING SCAM! On November 8, 20224, I went to the Roosevelt Collection Shops. I hadn't been there in years. I asked a man who clearly worked there as a ticket writer about the procedure to pay to park. He pointed to a sign and said I had to scan the sign, which I did and I paid by phone using my credit card. Besides the fact that he didn't tell me that 2 hour parking in the lower garage was free with a purchase; he gave me a parking violation ticket after I paid to park! tell me that 2 hour parking with a purchase was free. When my daughter and I finished shopping and were about to drive away, I noticed a parking violation ticket on my windshield. I got out of my car an asked the three young men who were all clearly ticket writers why I had a ticket. One of them was the very man who had shown me how to pay to park and watched me complete the procedure. I reminded him of that, even though it had been less than an hour since it happened, so he should have remembered. One of the men asked to see proof that I had paid, then told me to go see Jose to get it corrected. They made it seem like he had given me the ticket. Apparently there were others who had been given bogus tickets, too. When I first arrived, I saw a young man who was complaining about receiving a ticket. When I was going in the garage to find Jose, I saw another man who appeared to have gone to get his ticket situation taken care of. The young lady in the booth who pointed Jose's office out to me seemed to be familiar with people coming down there to get their bogus tickets taken care of, and on Jose's desk there was a small stack of tickets that had VOID written on them. What a scam! Jose pointed out that the ticket was written just one minute after I paid to park! He said that he would take care of it, but I had to wait. I told him that I had to pick someone up and could not stay. He said he would take care of it and that I should contact him if it wasn't taken care of. My daughter said he was smirking as we left. I disputed the ticket on their website. considering the fact that the company sent me text message notifications when I paid, when time was almost up, and to ask if I wanted to extend my time, there's no way that the workers didn't know that I paid to park. Besides that, the guy saw me pay to park! I will NEVER shop there again because of this experience, coupled with the fact that they didn't offer much of a selection to shop from anyway; and they charged more to park than it would have cost to go just a few blocks more to Downtown! read more

The place is very nice specially during the summer since you can relax on the chairs and enjoy the fountains or the fire place. Or if you have kids just to watch them play. The movie theater to relax inside but there are plenty of stores and restaurants to try as well. As for the parking it can be a bit expensive since some stores validate up to 90 minutes for free but if you are there longer it will be a minimum of 10 dollars. Last time I came here to do yoga at Yoga Six and it's easy to get to from the parking lot. read more

COOLEST PARKING LOT Technology has come a long way and it is showcased here. When you first drive in there is a board that shows you the three parking levels and how many parking spots exist on each level. Now you may think that is not important but when your running late for your way too expensive movie and drinks here, it becomes important really fast. You won't spend your time on level 1 which has only 20 spots left versus level 3 which has 300 spots. The smart technology will help you, so make sure you peak at the board at the front. As you are driving to your spot you will see red lights and green lights above every aisle. These lights direct you to open parking spots. It's like a game of PacMan as you are eating up the pellets. Follow the lights until you see green. The green lights tell you that there are spots down there and of course the red lights tell you there are no spots available. I've decided to share this valuable info because I do not think some of the drivers have figured this out. I keep seeing people searching down the red aisles. Stop doing it and let the parking technology help you. Now don't be confused by the blue light, those are for handicap drivers. This is the smartest parking lot I've ever seen. I'd also love to recommend this parking lot to Candice our community manager in the Burbs because she has so many bad experiences in Chicago parking garages. This might actually make her day plus its currently free. Yes it's free but I do not know how long it will be free for. When they built this place they originally charged for parking and it seemed too expensive. The build it and they will come attitude didn't seem to work. The give people free parking and they will come seems to be working better. I've also noticed that many of the vacant store fronts will be getting new stores soon. Now I must admit this mall seems like a place you would find in Miami. Just walk around and you will see what I am talking about. There's flowers everywhere and music playing as you stroll the paths. There are places to stop and reflect like the fish pond or the chairs surrounding the outdoor fire pits. The fire pit is a good thing on a crisp November day. There's a giant chess board, if your inclined to get a workout in too. Finally there is a play ground for the kids in the middle. All of these activities are in the center of the mall and I haven't even covered the stores yet. Currently the big anchors are the Icon movie theater which is probably the nicest & most expensive theater in Chicago. They offer VIP seating with food & full bar. And for shopping there is a large H&M store. My favorite store, Z Galleria is here. I was sad when it closed down in Lincoln Park but it has resurfaced here. There's a Men's Only Store called Haberdash, which not only sells you clothes but can offer you coffee and a shave. For the ladies there's a Loft, Black / White and other places to shop. In the center there's a Bridgeport Coffee. Those are just a few of the stores but there are more coming. I noticed a soap store, pet food store and sushi place going through construction. The free parking is working its bringing the customers and the retailers into the empty spots. I hope the owners of this mall realize this but I feel there gonna get greedy and bring back the paid parking. Hopefully they read this review and have a change of heart. There is also a great view of the Sears Tower from here. A million dollar view along with a unique shopping and entertaining experience. So if you haven't checked out the mall, then its time to do it. You will be glad that you did. read more

I live in the West Loop. For several years, I met friends from Oak Park and Rodgers Park here for an early movie, usually on Sunday afternoon. Then we'd shop a little and have dinner. But with the new Roosevelt Collection parking fees for four hours ($14 for each car and $42 for all three), we now meet in Oak Park. Oak Park is about a 15 minute drive by car. Ample parking is $1/hour and free on Sundays and after 6:00. The Lake Theatre charges $8.50 for first run ($6.00 for a matinee). There are dozens of wonderful restaurants, bars and stores within a two block radius, and it's safe to walk around at night. It's not that we don't have the money to park here... it's that we refuse to pay for something we can get for free. With just a few exceptions, all of these cookie cutter stores are in neighborhoods and malls with free parking. So if you have a car, like we all do, there's just no reason to shop here. (The exception is Z Gallerie, one of my favorite stores, which I also reviewed on Yelp). It appears the new fees are affecting business. The Icon theatre is now offering members discounts... and I recently received special offers from stores where I used to shop. They must not have read the "we can take free parking away and gouge your customers any time we want" clause. I stopped in Z Gallerie a couple of weeks ago... and took advantage of the 90-minute free parking. But when you add in the time it took to park and retrieve my car in the cavernous, maize-like garage, I only had about an hour to shop. Not enough time for Container Store, too, so I went to the one near my condo (with free parking). There are some positive things about this complex. If you live within walking and biking distance, and especially if you don't have a car, it's very convenient. If you're into the VIP movie experience, enjoying cocktails and food while watching a movie, Icon is definitely the best place for you (and the $14 parking fee probably doesn't matter). Finally, the Bridgeport Coffee store is an experience you don't want to miss as the weather gets colder and they light up the fire pit. But if you're looking for anything other than typical mall stores, you'll probably be disappointed. Retailing is a tough business today, and I think it will take a lot more than this mix to get people away from online shopping. A missed opportunity to engage the people who actually rent and own near here? Time will tell. UPDATED 9/22/16: From the official comment below, you can now park for four hours for $10. This is not what the website still states, but perhaps they haven't gotten around to updating it. Good to know that all of the complaints resulted in action. I wish I could give 0 stars. The parking garage is a hazard! If you plan to go here definitely do not park there. Was stuck in the garage last night for over an hour with hundreds of cars waiting to get out! Moved about two car lengths over an hour and a half. Finally just before 1am they lifted the gates and everyone was able to get out in minutes. Very unsafe and I will not be returning. Something needs to be done about the parking garage situation. read more

I really love this center. It's clean and well maintained. I am here at least 3 times a week for yoga. I love that there is a target close by too. I've been to the movie theater several times. My only gripe is that this center doesn't have a spin or cycle place. There are not that many cycle places in the area and the ones that are in the West Loop are not convenient. South loop / university village needs a cycle place (with free 90 minute validated parking, showers, lockers, and free bike shoe rental). read more

Much improved over the last two years. I have an office here, I also do some of my shopping and have an occasional lunch or dinner too. Which is the point, when I first leased my office there wasn't that much here and what was opened came and went out. Of course the Icon Theater is still a main anchor, the Container Store, Ulta, Banana Republic, add some good shopping options, along with smaller retail shops. By all indications the retail mix is finally coming together. For dining, Nando's Peri-Peri, Chop, and Mago Cantina offer up options, you can also grab a great cup of coffee at Bridgeport coffee. Still would like to see maybe a couple more options. Parking is easy, the Container Store does having a short term loading zone for large purchases so you can bring your car from the lot downstairs. The garage does offer 90 minutes free parking with validation. The surface spots aren't free, and they do ticket. I have no idea what the method of enforcement for payment is, maybe they boot you the next time around, or? Overall this is a small collection of shops, not a mall. Come here to go to a specific store or two, take a look and see if anything else works. Then have lunch, grab some coffee and sit in the courtyard. Don't come here expecting Water Tower, and a shopping expedition, it's not designed for that. I'm a fan because places like Water Tower tend to be too much for me. read more

What could be a nice concept is instead rather sterile. The street enclosure and gardening creates a little oasis where you feel a little out of the heart of the grittier city around you, which is nice. The backdrop to the north is the Loop and there is a nice rooftop park for strolling, playing and viewing the Loop view. There looks to be a nice movie theater (I haven't been) and there is nice mood lighting at night. Unfortunately the shops aren't anything you can't find anywhere else in the city, standard brands, one would hope that such a special enclosure could be a little more "boutique" in store choices. If you lived right around here it's convenient, if you don't then there are probably the same stores somewhere else near you. Mago Cantina looks like the one unique attraction and I hope to go back. read more

I love having the nice little oasis of a shopping center with a beautifully landscaped and decorated courtyard, so close to home. And as far as the parking -- I'm reading here that a lot of folks are sour about having to pay for parking. Fortunately for me, I live very near-by, so the parking thing isn't an issue for me. But my biggest issue is -- lack of variety! It's mostly clothing stores or up-scale specialty-shops. And now the bigger problem is the numerous vacant spots! That Mago place -- empty for a couple years. That place that was going to be a specialty beer shop a few years ago? Never opened and has been vacant ever since the RC opened. Pizza museum??? Porkchop is now gone. That really expensive home-decor/art place is closed. I love the Container Store, but I fear it is only a matter of time before they leave -- because they have an enormous amount of sq-footage in their store but it is never very busy inside. Maybe the owner of RC is trying to charge too much for rent for the commercial tenants? If the economy is supposedly great right now -- can you imagine what a ghost-town that place will be at the slightest hint of recession? To RC management/owner: I'm really rooting for you! I'm a little biased since it's within walking distance of my apartment! I like that they offer free parking for a limited time, tons of great shops, and a nice ambience when walking around. There are few stores that I'm missing, but we can't have it all! I feel safe when walking around and like that it's a little secluded from the main street (Roosevelt). All good from my vantage point! The only thing I wish would be included is a better selection of restaurants. Malls = quick bites and I've only seen sit down restaurants and a coffee shop. Chic-fil-a anyone? :D read more

This place has really transformed in the last 2-3 year period. A good variety of stores such as H&M, Victoria Secret, The Container Store, Treasures Jewelry as well as many other locations have made this a convenient go to spot for me especially when you add the free underground parking to the equation. I hate shopping in downtown because of parking issues and with the rapid expansion of south loop area as well as an excellent Muvico style movie theater, Roosevelt collection has become my new go to spot. I am confused with most people complaining about getting towed or ticketed when it is clearly stated that the parking on the upper deck is not free. Now I have to agree that towing a vehicle is a little excessive but you shouldn't be parking with out paying the meter in the first place. Note: Parking is not free anymore and needs validation which sucks because 90 minutes is just not enough time to explore the plaza, have a meal and or watch a movie. I don't think it's a smart idea to not offer extended validations so if I go to multiple stores, I should be able to validate it again so I can continue shopping. read more

Great new hot spot in the loop for shopping! I agree with Anthony's post above, cool atmosphere and big name retailers like H&M, ULTA, LOFT. I tried the coffee at Bridgeport and it was fantastic. It looks like they have their furniture outside ready to be set up around the fire pit located around their store in the middle of the complex. I am sure when it is warmer out it will be a nice spot. Looking forward to the rest of the tenants to come. Yes plaza parking is paid, but you can park in the garage for free, so there is really no issue with the parking since the garage is still free. I go to the theatre regularly and I think its the best one in the city with VIP seating. Overall a cool experience (went at night and the lights were amazing). Check it out! read more

So many options to organize all the kids stuff, they even had a section for Lego organization, my boys are so excited... for organization!? who would have thought. Well, good thing I read reviews and found out parking is now being charged. I would go to this shopping mall to go to the show and sometimes shop a little before hand. Now, with the time limitation of 90 minutes for free parking with validation, that does not give enough time to go to the show, let alone add a little shopping into the mix. I guess you do not want people to take their time and have a relaxed shopping experience. I don't plan on visiting any restaurants in the collective because 90 minutes is limiting even for dinner. When I am rushed and need to make sure I do not go over the 90-minute limit it just means I will spend much less money. I guess my bank account should thank you but in reality I'll just go to a mall or movie theater with free parking and take my time there. read more

The hours of this mall is incorrect. I believe the stores close at 6:00pm on sundays. Please correct your hours. There's basically only 5 good stores (loft, Victoria secret, banana republic, ulta, and container store). Not enough popping coffee shops either read more

I went to Victoria's Secret at the Roosevelt Collection and arrived before the store opened. Upon plugging in my phone to one of the outlets I was approached by a security guard named Alex who told me I could not use the external outlets. When I explained I was just waiting for the store to open, he retorted "this is not the CTA" and insisted I couldn't charge my phone. I complied. After my purchase I approached him as he stood by another guard and asked what he meant by his CTA comment. Obviously no one would ever confuse a high-end retail residential complex for a train station. As a former resident of the Roosevelt I certainly wasn't confused about where I was. I clearly had mistaken it for a place where the staff would be professional and curteous. Obviously without any rational defense for his insulting and condescending comment, Alex blustered about where I could file my complaint, how I could wait until Monday when his boss was there to have the conversation, how I could talk to the guard next to him (who had nothing to do with the matter), and how it was my word against his (suggesting he knew his comment was inappropriate and would therefore deny it). I spent three delightful years at the Roosevelt, and spent a lot of money there. To be clear, I didn't mind being told it was against building policy to use the external outlets. I did object to being insulted in the process. Most of the staff are very professional and pleasant but when guys like Alex are the face of the complex that patrons and visitors first encounter, it is not only disappointed but very off-putting to be treated so poorly. I can't imagine how much money he has cost the retail merchants because patrons like me will not return. He should be fired; it will probably save the Roosevelt money. read more

Awesome mini outdoor mall in the South Loop. Its been open for years now. The Showplace Icon has been there since it opened. Now finally all the stores are opening as well. H&M, Z Gallerie etc. It reminds of me of mini Old Orchard Mall. Its cool and laid back I will shop here alot :D read more

I'm so excited to finally be in walking distance to a shopping mall! I had visited the Roosevelt collection years ago when it had first opened and it was kind of a disappointment--nothing like it is today! I was blown away by how many useful stores are included now: H&M, Victoria's Secret, Francesca's, Container Store, Banana Republic, and more. Just enough spots to cover the basics. Also I must say they do a great job at keeping this place clean and safe! There's usually a security guard walking around which makes you feel at ease, especially at night. read more

This used to be my favorite place to see a movie. However, due to the new parking fees, it took me 15 minutes to get out of the parking garage after 10 PM last night (a Wed. night). Releasing 250+ people from a movie at the same time late at night has caused an issue with getting out of the parking garage with putting in tickets. There are only two machines to exit and one exit in the parking garage. At Rosemont, they do not charge for parking late at night because of the same issue of the bars and restaurants letting people out at the same time. I understand the parking issue especially during the day and on Sundays with people using it for Bears games and trying to get it for free, but I do not see the point of not letting the parking open late a night after the movies are being let out. I will strongly consider not coming to this theater in the future. read more

They must have a tow truck on site somewhere so if you don't pay for parking fast, you will need to take a 20 minute cab ride to the towing center and then pay $280 to get your car back.
