Just wanted to give everyone a shout out over at Rookies! Tonight was our second time dining here in 2 weeks and is now my kids go to restaurant! The first night we went was half price Pizza (which was fantastic) and the Wing (the parmesan buffalo is amazing!) and fry special which was perfect for our family! Tonight we did kids eat free which is always a great thing! My husband had the steak sandwich (cooked perfect) and I ordered the Smashy Melt on a pretzel bun, delish! I also wanted to point out that we had wonderful service at our table along with the manager on duty! Our server was always asking, especially with kids, if we needed anything and then I noticed the manager walking around to each table personally making sure that everyone's experience was great! That was awesome to see! The food was delicious, hot and on time both times. The kids love watching all the games that are on and the staff is very accommodating to kids which is a huge plus for us! This Place Is Not Bad.. Perfect For Sports Fans.. Beau & I, came here to meet with the guys. Can't say this spot is spectacular, but it wasn't bad. The vibes seemed fairly good, & the food seemed standard.. The Ambiance: A Large & Lively Sports Bar. Plenty of seating. Good for groups & families .. The Service: Mostly Friendly & Accommodating.. The Food: At both locations, we frequented, complimentary popcorn was served, & refilled. I had gyros & fries, twice I believe, at the St. Charles location.. Whereas Beau, had wings, on one occasion. We have never been to this location so when we saw they had entertainment on their patio,we decided to go on a Saturday night . They have live entertainment almost everyday but Monday from 7-10pm. Band schedule is listed on their website. We arrived about 630pm and were seated immediately. We started with drinks first. Our server Mateusz was very nice but never told us their drink specials. My wife had a Mai Tai which was very good. For dinner I had to try their wings. A little pricey but solid in taste. I had their Spicey Honey Garlic and Sriracha Bourbon sauces. Both were sticky and fantastic. My wife had their Veggie Burger on a gluten free bun (1.00) extra and she loved it. Our server brought us our check before he asked if we wanted another drink..which we did..since we wanted to hear the band. Not sure why the rush when there were plenty of empty tables available. Improvements needed: service, food and managements promise of fixing your check. The appetizer ordered between 2 people were chickadials, with skirt steak- awesome share. Plus we each had clam chowder... NEVER EXPECTING we would end up taking quesadillas home (we were totally hungry) service stunk, management did nothing to correct the situation or BILL and we waited to see our waiter for at least 25 minutes to get my water refilled and ice tea refilled. Terrible experience This is a Chicago sports bar and the White Sox were playing, but not on any Rookies tv. Clearly I was watching the White Sox on my phone and no effort was made to play it on a screen in the restaurant Manager was rude, did I not care about my dining, did not care if I would never come to rookies again. I love the owners and the restaurant. They recently revamped the burger menu. They also got rid of 1/2 price Tuesday burgers. They do offer the $18 "Big Mackin" for $10 on Tuesdays. The problem is the McDonald's Big Mac is better. They also don't have tater tots anymore. They replaced it with tater kegs, $3 upcharge When you make a dramatic menu change you have to make the change for the better. The change resulted in a portion reduction and somewhat of a price reduction. Not good. I will find another place for a burger and tater tots. Maybe I'll stop for wings. read more

When we walked in, there wasn't anyone at the reception table to greet us or take us to a table so we waited for a bit, but that's okay. Waitress recommended the Beer Nuggets to share and, my family really liked them! Tasted like soft pizza dough or airy naan bread with garlic flavor. We also liked the Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos, as it had saltiness but also tomatoes for freshness. However, would not recommend anyone to order the Korean BBQ Beef Tacos. They were shredded meat, which was unexpected but acceptable. The tacos didn't have any Korean flavors at all, but that's expected since this is an American restaurant. However, if the menu labels the meal as a Korean taco, it should have Korean flavors. Though the taco lacked authenticity, that was not the biggest concern. It was just too salty, and the combination of meat and sautéed purple cabbage, didn't provide a nice balance. No freshness compared to the shrimp tacos. I recommend for them to take the Korean BBQ Beef Tacos off the menu or renovate it, simply by changing the flavors and saltiness level. read more

I have been eating here for years, good specials, tasty pub grub, a solid go to. But tonight turned my stomach and I'm not sure I can dine here again and not so much about what happened as the fact that I'm sure it did not get channeled to management. A "bus boy" (actually a man) was bussing tables. His rag dropped on the ground and after wiping off the seats of the chairs-I thought oh yeah! He's not going to wipe the table and then, yes he did!!!! Ugh! Good thing I had finished my meal otherwise I would have left without eating. But worse than that we told our waiter and he said he would share with the manager and after sitting for another 10 minutes nothing came of it. No apology. Zippo. New menu has decreased my visits from a couple times a week to once in a great while. I can't imagine they used sales data to create the new menu. I've been going here for years and they removed the most popular dishes. In addition to the menu changes, portion sizes have decreased overall with the salads being the worst. Food is still good and it's worth a visit, but this menu change has taken the restaurant down on the list. read more

Never in my entire life have I seen a restaurant charge extra for BASIC condiments! And the waitress didn't even let us know! I ordered a chicken sandwich with no mayo, asked to add BBQ sauce on the side and add raw onion & pickles. When the bill came I noticed a $1.00 charge for BBQ sauce, $0.50 for onions and $0.50 for pickles. Nickel and diming your customers to death is not how you get repeat customers. Apparently it's a local chain. This was for lunchtime at the St Charles location. Plenty of screens on the wall and a solid bar section in the middle. Not all that noisy (which I think is a plus, but that's totally a subjective opinion). Instead of setting out a plate of bread, they set out popcorn. That's cute! There was also an intriguing $1 daily special. The regulars told me it rotates between chicken sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. Can't verify - but that's cool. I had the Texan Burger. I know I should've gotten the Hangover (like many others did). The BBQ sauce is a sweeter sauce. The brisket was a unique elements... I felt like this burger was halfway to a reuben sandwich. Overall, it's a fine grill/bar with a wide food menu and a modern look. read more

*Don't eat at this location* Manager is stingy I received a birthday coupon for a free meal up to $20 so we went on 3/1/25. Took my family of four and ordered four meals. We had a great waitress and she even upsold us on 1/2 bottle of wine when my wife tried to order one glass. The manager wouldn't allow the "free meal" with the 1/2 price bottle of wine. The back of the coupon said alcohol not included which implies you can't go there and drink your $20 "free meal". Nowhere else did it say the coupon cannot be honored with any other deals or their 1/2 price wine night. In the end the manager allowed the coupon but made us pay full price for a cheap bottle of wine which saved $3 but should have been a $20 savings on food. It just comes off as nickel and diming and if that's how you treat your customers then that is the kind of people you will attract. read more

I hadn't visited the St Charles Rookies location since they remodeled last year. It was too hot to sit on the patio the added. The inside has been nicely refreshed with painting and new furniture. I came today because they had mailed me a coupon for my June birthday. I started with the side Greek salad. While it was small as a side salad should be, it included all the ingredients of the entree size salad. The I had a 10 inch pizza. The menu says it serves one person, but honestly,especially with the side salad or an appetizer two could split it. I ordered their special pizza with the classic 4 toppings. It was tasty with just the right amount of crunch to the crust edges. And every bite included toppings, it was generously prepared. Went here for a friend's concert. Great bar, service, and food. Always nice that you can find reasonable drink prices and get solid food! Generally love the place & staff. But growing very weary of the Juke box shenanigans. Right now as I sit here, someone is playing a playlist locking the juke box out. 15-20 songs from the SAME artist. Omg, How nice for the 200 people here of all ages and different tastes. But my main complaint is when you open the app on my ohone it shows nothing playing! So I stupidly waste credits trying to play songs that never come on. To be clear, the juke box is on and shows you are clear to play music. But you can't and lose credit$. Turn it OFF if that's your intention. read more

I have always heard about this place, but had never been. We went on Monday night, and wow, let me just say that we will be back. The hospitality at the St. Charles location is wonderful. I couldn't even count how many times I heard "good to see you guys again" from the waitstaff. The food.... wow. The wings were fantastic. Everyone in my group loved their order and my daughter loved the fact that she got unlimited popcorn in addition to her meal. Rookies is a cool sports bar with a great family feel. Okay Rookies ya got me. Updating my review because of this awesome server we had tonight. I hope I'm spelling this right, her name was Amiya. So on top of her stuff and her tables. She had what looked like a 20 top in the back and still came to check on us multiple times throughout our dinner to make sure we had everything we needed. Best service we've ever had here. Rookies reopened a couple months ago after a pretty awesome remodel. The seating only changed cosmetically, but the the bar and the TV setup improved significantly... There is still a wide variety of food options and the appetizers never disappoint. The ribs and gyros are delicious. If you have the opportunity, ask for Liz to be your server; she is extremely pleasant and you're sure to be satisfied with the personal attention, not to mention her captivating smile. read more

Once she brought our drinks, she never returned to take our order. We waited 35 minutes before leaving. We saw her at another table 3 times within that 35-minute window. We just returned from having a wonderful meal at Rookies. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We were greeted with popcorn and a menu with a lot of options. We had the Aaron Rodgers Burger with a side of fries, and Veggie Burger on a vegan pretzel roll with a side of coleslaw. The burgers and sides were absolutely delicious. It was nice to see a vegan option on the menu. The atmosphere, a sports bar, was very family friendly. This is a great place to watch a game or two on one of the many TVs throughout the restaurant. It was surprisingly easy to maintain a conversation throughout our meal, despite the all the TVs and a dining room full patrons. On Thursday they have half price Chicago beefs. so I order up the beef sandwich and when I received it it was almost half the size bun/ beef sandwich. Great job on the remodel. Been there a couple of times recently and love the atmosphere and food. The pizza is surprisingly good. Had the Rookies favorite 4 and the Godfather. Both were excellent, one of the best in the area. One word of caution, the Godfather Pizza is very spicy so be warned if you don't like the heat. The newly remodeled Rookies is welcoming and an excellent place for the whole family. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu has so many mouth-watering options. The big daddy chicken sandwich nestled in a pretzel bun was delicious and offered either grilled, fried, or blackened. It was delicious! I also tried the warm Apple pie dessert, which came with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, a knowledge of whipped cream on the side, too, and drizzled with taste caramel. Huge servings always!
