After comparing notes with other neighbors I know Joe and Action are fairly priced and very competent. I had a terrible experience with American Roofing and Construction company. We bought our house…read morefour years ago and it had T-Lock shingles on it. American Roofing and construction replaced the roof. About a year in, the entire vaulted ceiling where it meets the wall leaked water which ran down the wall and destroyed some of the ceiling plaster, and cracked the drywall tape. I called American Roofing and a few weeks later they came and fixed that part of the roof. The guy said they would send out a drywall and spackling guy to fix the interior, and would send someone out to give an estimate for a gutter. They never called or came back. Another two years go by and now the entire front is doing the same thing, destroying the dry wall and plaster in the ceiling. I have called multiple times (5+ calls between them) and of course, they missed the appointment to fix it no less than three times. When they did arrive, they didn't ask anything, just got up on our roof and started doing things. They left without telling us. I went to look at the roof and could plainly see (photos attached) they had destroyed a significant amount of the siding in the process of fixing the flashing. I called Brian and sent him several photos of the damage. He told me it was because it was rotten and the roofers should have cut back the siding up off the roof and that is why it did that. Only guess what, they are the ones that put the original roof on! Brian then told me "he" would come down personally and get everything fixed. It has been more than a month. (crickets) In that time we got others to come out and look at the damage. Tonight, it rained; I came down to the sitting area only to find water on the floor, wall and ceiling. So even after they "fixed" my roof and tore up the house. It still leaks, Now I have a leaking roof still and busted up siding. We are going to have Greg Unseth do the itemized repairs. We will be billing American Roofing and Construction for the repairs and damages. I don't expect them to do anything about it like they've done thus far. So when they don't pay,....I'll just have to sue them. So be warned, they will eagerly come out and do your roof for you, but just wait until you have to get them to fix their screw ups.

Mike was very careful in finding the right color for our roof and making sure it was the closest match possible. He came in with his crew and removed the bad tile put on by the other roofer and smoothly replaced it with the better match. I appreciated the phone calls updating me on the progress of the job. I also appreciated that Mike, himself, came to double check his crew's work. The crew was quick and efficient making the process painless. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone getting a new roof.

TLDR: I backed out of the contract with G3 Roofing due to their questionable business practices and…read morethey still are charging me $5400 So apparently I owe G3 Roofing $5,400 for backing out of my contract with them after an accumulation of red flags. I fully acknowledge that I terminated the contract well after the 72 hour deadline, but it was mainly after an accumulation of red flags. I also freely admit I was not a careful consumer - I am moving across the country and have been putting all of my energy and thought into that. I put out a request for bids on gutters on my house on Yelp and got a bunch of responses. I arranged for some of those contractors to come out to look at the gutters on my house. G3 Roofing was the first company to come out. there were a handful of reviews on BBB that were all glowing - they have since disappeared - but now there is only a one-star review from another person who objected to their aggressive selling approach. Brian and Alyssa showed up to give me an estimate. Brian immediately wanted to know when my roof had been replaced and volunteered to take a look. It had been 7 years since it was last replaced, so I said fine. He concluded that it needed replacing and offered to talk to my insurance company and they say they will send someone out - he says he can be at my place to show them what's up. Again, I said fine because right now I'm overloaded. We talk about the gutters and modifications that could be made. I say I'll talk to some other contractors and let him know. He demands to know why I need to talk to other contractors - looking back it was all weirdly aggressive. I was very uncomfortable. That should have been my first red flag. I rationalized it to myself that in Colorado, getting your roof replaced is pretty standard, and he says he's only going to charge me as much as the insurance is giving me (which is normal, not some amazing deal). Ok fine. Plus, I'm juggling a hundred other things like fixing the yard, finding painters and yard maintenance people and planning how to move me, my pets and my worldly possessions across the country. Yeah, I was an easy mark. I sign the contract a couple weeks later and don't really look too closely at it. Then a couple weeks after that G3 roofing requests the entire insurance payment as their deposit and says they will send someone by to pick up the check. And that's when the alarm bells started clanging in my head. I told them I was not comfortable with that and would like to terminate the contract. It's well past their 72-hour back-out period. I told them 50% up-front would have been acceptable and 50% upon completion, but with me heading out of state before work even begins, I could not consider that. Bree emails me from the office that yes, 50% up front is reasonable and they could do that. I don't care at that point because their first move was to request essentially everything up front. I said I was terminating the contract. Bree called and proceeded to assure me that with insurance settlements paying the full amount as the deposit is standard and starts going on about ACVS or whatever. I said I would ask around about that. So I did. I called a general contractor who had done some major home renovations for me a few years ago. He said this was not cool at all and to walk away from it. My friend who spent years flipping real estate and had one of her houses custom built said to run not walk. And pretty much everyone I sought advice from online as well as my lawyer and realtor, said to back out of it. The general contractor I spoke with posed the question: "It's roofing season. Roofers are drowning in work. Why is this company so desperate to hold on to your business?" Why indeed. No work had been done and no materials had been ordered according to a recent email. So I sent them an email that yes, indeed, I was terminating the contract. Bree sent a sorrowful email in response that they would have to bill me $5,450 per the terms of the contract that says 20% in "liquidated damages" will be charged for termination after the 3-day lookback period. I'm very curious why a company in the middle of roofing season that has not lost any money, just some sales time, would try to force an uncomfortable client (due to the hard sell techniques and pay schedule) to continue working with them rather than moving on. Avoid this company.
