I stand by everything I said related to the quality of the cut and the service level of the stylists. They remain great. Unfortunately, my last two trips were made a lot less convenient by their online app. It is ironically designed to put you on a wait list and notify you when you are 'on deck' for the next stylist. In theory, this is great and has worked well in the past, especially on weekends when they are quite busy. My most recent visit took me to Colonial Park with a 79 minute wait time, which was more than sufficient to get to the shop and check in with a half hour to spare. I made the mistake of picking a stylist who had a shorter wait time than the others. I didn't realize this was a mistake until the wait time seemed to get stuck at around 30 minutes for about thirty minutes. After having lunch next door, the clock did not move and "first available' customers were getting in and out around me. Finally, after 2 hours, I left to rush and complete the other things I had to do today. I was still third in line with slightly less than a half hour to go so I put the cut off until next week. I took myself out of the line up and, within five minutes, I received a text notification that I was now "on deck" and my stylist would be ready in a few minutes. This was after I cancelled on the app. I understand the shop is busy and I have enjoyed working with every stylist who dared tame my beard and hair so far. But the app is just terrible. I've had better live receptionists who couldn't keep a handwritten list while also talking to friends on the phone. My previous trip started here and also ended at Colonial Park (with a successful cut!) because I signed in early and decided not to sit for 20 minutes on the hard folding chairs in the lobby. I was more comfortable in my car breathing fresh air. I got the text that I was on deck but for some reason they took me 'out of the line-up' before I could make it the fifty feet from car to doorway and no one was at the counter to talk to me about it. Another 90 minutes later, I had my buzz cut and was headed home, again to rush through the rest of my Sunday chores. Not again.

I went in for two cuts with John, who I assume owns the shop, mainly because a friend knew him and I needed a new barber. First cut was just meh, but the second cut when I returned a month later was honestly the 2nd worst I cut I ever received. A month after the experience I found a new barber and the first thing he said to me what, "Jeez, who cut you hair last time?" - so yeah, it was that bad. Came back today to look at barber reviews since my new guy was out of town for the holidays, and when Johnny's shop came up in my search results, I was curious to read past reviews. I noticed the one from Kurtis C. from back in 2012 - and 11 years later his review absolutely rang true for me. If he's not doing a cut, John tends to sit behind his computer when you walk in, and just as Kurtis said, he makes you wait even if there's no one else there. I had appointments for my two cuts - and that's where I found him both times, and waited - both times. To be fair, maybe the other barbers in the shop are decent enough - I can't speak to this one way or the other, but I can only warn you of what to expect if you sit in John's chair.
