I have been getting my hair cut at a chain type salon for awhile and never quite got what i wanted out of them. They just don't seem to know how to do men's hair right. So, I looked into an actual Barber shop tried Randy's place out. This will be my go-to place until he decides to call it a career. My experience had that familiar old-school barbershop feel. My first time here. Newish to the area I wanted an inexpensive, good, traditional cut. I found it here. $14 gets you a great cut, warm towel finish and a really nice guy who enjoys what he is doing. In a world where manliness is now criticized as offensive, this is the last great hair-cutting establishment. This is the barbershop will take you back to a simpler time, where you went in, maybe read a magazine, and then talked to your barber as if he was a close friend or relative while he cut your hair. If you don't want to sit across from your aunt Sally in some salon where it is 45 dollars for a low fade, this is your barbershop. That aside, this is an extremely professional barber and I have been going there off and on for several years (I usually cut my own hair but actually stopped because at this place you're paying for an experience AND a hair cut). I have never received a haircut that was anything less than perfect from Kirkpatrick's. My haircuts were finished with a straight razor neck shave and a hot steam towel, just like the old days. A haircut is 14 dollars which I think is reasonable (if you are paying a person who went to school to cut hair any less than 14 dollars for a haircut then you are probably not getting a good haircut anyway). If you are in the Carlisle/mechanicsburg/camphill/harrisburg area and want a haircut done the right way in a REAL barbershop, then do yourself a favor and come to Kirkpatrick's. read more

If there ever are doubts about a barber's dedication, ask to see his tattoos... That said, this barber knows his craft. As a top musician gracefully exercises his craft making it look easy, so too does this barber put on an enjoyable show. Five stars. If you are looking for an authentic barber, you simply must try this place. I discovered this place while researching barbers who are proficient with facial hair grooming. I have discovered that I can rock a handlebar mustache and beard...but I didn't know how to keep it from rocking out of control. Randy listened, got to know what I wanted, then I shut up and listened to his wisdom. My stache and beard are now well groomed and I couldn't be happier or more confident about managing my new-found-fondness for my facial hair. My hair was another fix. "First, let's just even up what you've got", he said as he examined the vestigial remains a SuperCuts massacre. Now I'm quaffed like a Mad man.
