Unfortunately, I was sent the wrong carburetors, and by the time I had gotten the correct carburetor from the company, I did not feel comfortable reinstalling them. I reached out to Eddie on Saturday morning early, and he was confident that he could replace the carburetors and have the generators up and running. This was a bit refreshing because some businesses don't wish to touch work that had already been started. On Monday today, May 5, 2025, Eddie called and said the generators were repaired and ready to be picked up. I was shocked! I went to the shop and he started the generators. I tested them and they worked perfectly. I was also pleasantly surprised at the price.. Living in Houston with the constant threat of hurricanes and power outages, I wanted to get ahead of the rush that I know is coming and Eddie helped me out quite a bit with that getting me prepared. His shop is not much to look at like a hole in the wall restaurant that serves great food. One of those places you wouldn't know what to look at it! If you have a small engine, whether it's a lawnmower, weed-eater or generator that needs repair I highly recommend contacting Eddie! GN3

He has some other guys who i think are renting space from him, doing other car work. I was very unhappy when I had my car towed there for the starter to get fixed. They replaced it, but then when I went to pick it up it wouldn't start. they looked at me like I was dumb. Sure enough, something else was wrong. it took them 2 hours to diagnose a bad relay, and yes, they charged me for the labor. not happy. i'll only be coming here for a/c work, not for other car things. Mike is a one-man show at Clear Lake Auto Air. He rents space in the transmission shop, his office is in the back. Just ask any of the mechanics for Mike the A/C guy and they'll point you in the right direction. Mike is a good, ol' fashioned, honest mechanic. ALL he does is car heating and cooling. He will recharge your freon for less than 40 bucks, and won't put you through all of the hassle of the leak check and bla bla bla. Within 6 months of moving to Houston, the A/C had gone out on both of my cars. My poor northern babies couldn't handle the southern heat. Mike replaced both of my systems and gave me honest quotes and great insight into how to keep my A/C from crashing again. Every once in a while I stop by when something is on the fritz with my a/c...most recently, a leaf in my blower, and he will help me out...for FREE! this guy is awesome. highly recommended.

Mike it didn't fix my problem and he didn't charge me a dime either. Most importantly he gave me his honest advice told me what to look for and what he would recommend having replaced. Mike currently owns the transmission shop. He says he has a great transmission builder and the shop is nice and clean. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my or anyone else's vehicle there for work. The guy is direct and real about things. Maybe it's the fact that I was in the military, that I have the "thick skin" to appreciate his candor. He doesn't sugarcoat the situation, nor will he make it more than what it is. I have taken 4 different vehicles (my spouse, my daughter, my son, and my own, vehicles to Alan) When we first started using his shop, my wife had multiple car issues. Alan fixed 1, thinking that was it. Soon after, the car started acting up. Alan calmed her down and explained that there are times when more than one issue is the problem and there's no way to know everything. He explained that he has kids too and would never put anyone in an unsafe situation. This is an honest review. I have never had any issues with Alan's work or his honesty. Sometimes we tend to "blame the messenger" as if they created it. They didn't. Alan is a good man. His prices are actually low than industry standard. He's efficient, honest and technically inclined. Great group of mechanics here!!…read more Today it was just a quick state inspection that they finished in about 20 minutes on my lunch break, but I have previous experience with the mechanics here that make me want to come back when my car needs some attention and I'm at work. Years ago I had an SUV that just died while I was getting gas nearby. I walked to McBroom's since it was the closest shop (right across a side street actually). I asked if I could use their phone to call a tow truck, but one of their mechanics volunteered to come and look at my SUV and try to start it for me. This went on for about an hour until he finally decided to tow it with his own truck to their garage. The next day, my car was running so I picked it up and drove it to my side of town. It died after about 20 minutes. So why such a glowing review if my truck/SUV wasn't actually fixed? I was charged nothing for the time and effort that this mechanic put into my car. Yes, he didn't totally fix it, but he did what he could to the best of his abilities and for FREE!! Most people in the Houston area wouldn't even bother to look at one of your troubled autos without agreeing to a $75-100 fee first! I guess McBroom's is just proof that while we all complain about mechanics there are still some good ones out there. You may just need to get out to the suburbs to find them!
