This place has become a must- stop by when I'm by the beach. Seriously the best hospitality ever. Any time I have gone in Ron has always stopped what he was doing to answer my questions, show me all around the store and give me recommendations based on my preferences. Last time I was there a woman who worked there was also so helpful. They will gift wrap your plants for free, too. I drove by this treasure of a store for years. Saying I'd like to stop. Finally I stopped and treasure is an understatement. I was greeted and asked if I needed any help just let them know. I roamed around. No words can describe how beautiful everything is. Now...the important part. They are extremely knowledgeable. The gentleman Evan that does all the potting and cares for the plants will only suggest plants that will sustain in your area. I purchased an incredible succulent garden/pot. They weren't surviving well. He replaced a couple then Ron said to bring it back and we'll take a look. He replanted the entire pot. I was so pleased at not only the customer care but the kindness that comes with it. Even the cats are nice. Thank you My beautiful succulent garden is thriving!! read more

Really nice selection of plants even though some are a bit overpriced. Last week when I visited the store, the staff was wearing masks. They have always been very friendly and helpful. When I stopped by Ron's today, I was shocked to see the owners without masks. I'm extremely disappointed in their lack of concern for the health and safety of their staff and customers during a pandemic, but especially during another covid surge in San Luis Obispo County. Being new to Grover Beach, I was so happy to find this great store. The plants are the bomb here. One of a kind succulents and fantastic garden art. The store is a treasure chest of artist delights. Ron has esquisite taste and you can find unusual pieces and gifts here. There are vignettes throughout the store that showcase his unique finds. Was super disappointed to find out the nursery was closed, as they will be moving locations. A friend and I drove out of our way quite a bit to visit since the hours online said they were open. Signage on the shop was terrible and didn't even mention the business name so the only reason I knew I was at the right spot was the address numbers on the building. If you have not found and explored Ron's you are in for a treat! In addition to plants (including cacti and succulents) there are designer items in the store for your home or for housewarming gifts. My only qualm is the "new age" music that was playing and they seem a tad overpriced. The employees are very friendly and helpful! Out of all the nurseries around town this is my absolute favorite. Everything in the shop I want to take home, the have things from beautiful house plants to lovely candles. Also they have two kitties that are so sweet and friendly and it absolutely made my day when I walked in and was greeted by one. I love that they have your typical house plants like Mother-in-laws Tongue and Pothos vines, but also beautiful little String of Hearts (which I've been on the hunt for for a long time) and Caladiums. This is antiques that have been anointed with artisan love. Couple that with Ron's straight-shooting, friendly central coast charm (mid-west meets southern gentry) and you've got one hell of a place to find something that will liven up your zen! ---That's right, it's called Ron's and Ron + Family are there ready to help you! Such a delightfully foreign concept from a city transplant such as myself. Unless you venture in, Ron's is hard to pin into a category but if I had to try, picture an award winning indoor/outdoor marketing display that could never be duplicated in mass production. It fluidly weaves through the entire space like a graceful artisan web of rod-iron, re-purposed, wooden, porcelain, enameled, industrial, delicate, weathered, warmly lit, vegetated whimsy. You get a sense that indoors and outdoors unite in a way that says nature is taking back the industrial goods it once gave up. Now picture EVERY element of that display with a price tag on it. This is no exaggeration, EVERYTHING in the store is for sale with exception to the store itself (I'm assuming). In other words, you may find plants, candles, refreshed antiques, local artisan work, pottery and lighting there but then you realize that the display purposed pieces that these items are sitting on are also for sale. That is where the madness begins. So, it's fair to assume that as long as people keep coming in and purchasing these one-of-a-kind re-purposed goods, you'll continue to see an evolution in the store. Our experience there as only begun, so far we have our eye on a Hoosier Desk and I picked up a beautiful blue glazed outdoor planter! Ron himself even helped carry the 90+ pound thing to my car! In conclusion. Ron's is a treasure in charm, originality and personalized service. Ron's stands out in a place already known for this type of shopping. Easily worth a 100 mile round trip or more. If you are a savvy interior decorator type who appreciates the hidden treasure approach of "refreshed" antiquities, I've never seen a better translation. Ron's resembles some of the shops that can be found in the many furniture districts of Los Angeles (La Brea Ave, West LA and Culver City) with SUPERIOR service and more reasonable prices. I used to go here all the time for garden plants and I still stop by whenever I am in the area. Plant selection is wonderful and very high quality. I bought a gardenia plant here about 7 years ago. They recommended I go with a grafted version (better disease resistance) and recommended and appropriate pot for it. I still have it now in my San Francisco apartment and it blooms wonderfully every year. The layout of the store is great and they have a bunch of household items in addition to the plants. Also, if you go in the spring you can stop at the strawberry stand across the street and get really good strawberries. read more

This store has a lot of great home decorations and pretty plants. Everything is rather pricey though so I had to really convince myself I loved something before I would buy it. They have a great nursery in the back of the store and there are two cats that roam around greeting the customers. The whole store emits a very calming atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Bonus, the bathroom is amazing and has several different high end lotions available after you wash your hands. A one stop shop if you're looking for pretty Christmas gifts! read more

The place is definitely a little costly though but if you need the best, look no further. Ron, the owner, could not be a nicer or a more helpful person. The staff was kind, gracious, and very knowledgeable.
