My experience here was so great that I felt compelled to write my very first review! I chose this dentist based on the reviews found here on Yelp. After experiencing it myself, I can truly say that all the previous reviews are spot on. On my very first visit I was warmly greeted by name before even giving my name as if I'd been going there for years. After sitting in "the chair" I nearly forgot about my extreme fear of dentists. Barbara provided explanations every step of the way, xrays, polishing, probing, proper way to brush and floss etc. Amazingly, after examination Dr. Kashiwada predicted that I have a lot of tension in my neck and shoulder areas (Umm...I thought I came to see a dentist!?). He's correct, my neck and shoulders have given me so much problems that I have bought several different pillows thinking the problem due to lack of neck support while sleeping and was on the verge of seeing a chiropractor. Dr says that will be a waste of money and he knows the solution. Will have to wait and see if he's correct. Easy to find. Located near the airport in the building with the Wyland mural on the side. Nice view. Validated parking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You couldn't possibly find a more friendlier staff that really love their jobs and treats you like family. read more

Dr. Kashiwada is A-mazing! We needed to find a dentist and my husband found Dr. Kashiwada here on Yelp. I've always had issues with clinching my teeth, grinding my teeth, and my jaw popping or locking. Because of this, unknowingly this was the cause of my headaches and sore neck. I also didn't realize that this caused me to have cracked teeth which was leading to my cavities. I had no idea I had cracked teeth. I also didn't realize that there was a solution and Dr. Kashiwada had that answer- adjustment. I was super skeptical, but I trusted Dr. Kashiwada. AND, it is all worth it. I no longer have those headache, I don't grind my teeth, nor does my jaw lock or pop. I never realized that all it took was to adjust my teeth. I never knew that this was a thing. If my teeth should have any movement or I should ever have any slight issue with my teeth, Dr. is just a phone call away, he'll see me, check my teeth, and help with adjustment. I am so happy with this investment! I think it's also worthy to note that needless to say, I am petrified of needles. With cavities and other dental work, we all know that getting a shot to numb the area to be worked on is never any fun. For me, I double down and have a panic attack. When having to get shots in Dr. Kashiwada's care, I have never felt relaxed and at easy. My first visit Dr. and the ladies took their time with me and were so patient with me. Now, I am so comfortable in their office that I literally fall asleep when I get settled into my chair. (Sometimes I even get a blanket). I actually look forward to going to the dentist because I have some me time to relax.- LOL Now I would also like to comment that my 4 keiki also go to Dr. Kashiwada. And they all love going to their dentist. My 3rd keiki is like me, petrified of needles too. Now he goes in and is a little apprehensive but they take such great care of him that he is at easy. I love that we are not treated like cattle- hustling us in and out- just trying to make that buck. Dr. Kashiwada actually genuinely cares about us and who we are as an individual and family. He, Barb, and Doreen talk with us with care and are interested in us. They are part of our ohana. They even text to check in on us after any one of our dentist visits. I am SO thankful for Yelp and for all of these reviews that led me to finding Dr Kashiwada's office! They're lengthy but honestly these reviews tell it exactly how it is. I've had an issue with my jaw popping TERRIBLY for years now. I've always just shrugged it off, ignored it, and learned to live with it. The popping was so bad that it would pop whenever I would open AND close my mouth- it was the worst when I would eat. My friends would always freak out and look at me crazy because it was so loud, they could actually hear it pop across the table. I always brought it up to my regular dentist but all they really advised me to do is use a night guard or see an ortho (which I did a couple years ago, and they recommended I get a splint). It wasn't until my jaw started locking, causing me pain to eat and open my mouth that I started to do my research and take more initiative in getting this issue fixed. My first appointment was a lot but I kind of had an idea of what to expect based on the reviews. Dr Kashiwada brought out some articles basically explaining TMJ and how everything in our body is connected. I could really tell he knew what he was talking about. It was very informative and felt like I was in a health/anatomy class and let me tell you, science was never my strong point in school lol but I was so fascinated by it all. One of the things that I really appreciate is that Dr takes the time to make sure I understand what he's talking about, and if I don't, he uses real world situations/analogies to help explain it in a way that I'll get it! Before seeing Dr, there were many things I didn't know before. I never knew that my bite affected SO MANY OTHER THINGS regarding my health. I didn't realize that my bite was so uneven, and I didn't know that I had little to no cartilage in my jaw bone (we found out through an xray) which is what's causing the horrible popping. I never realized how much I clench my jaw throughout the day and how tense my shoulders were. Also, I'm known to all of my friends and family as the slowest eater ever. Dr explained to me that was also due to my bite. I had a harder time breaking down food and digesting which causes my acid reflux. I was so shocked when he told me that- I used to have really bad stomach problems (still do occasionally) and I even got an endoscopy done for it. All the oncologist told me was that I had a lot of acid buildup but Dr Kashiwada was the one who told me the reason why! He explained how I was feeling and the things I was doing before I even told him myself. I've learned sooo much from him. I was super nervous for my first treatment and have a tendency to always second guess myself, but Dr took the time to answer any questions that I had and went over everything with me again until I felt comfortable. During my first treatment, he worked on the left side of my mouth first. Before working on the right, he wanted me to see the difference between the left and right side of my body. He had me touch my shoulders and gave me a mirror to look at the difference in my face. The results were EYE-OPENING. It's true, my shoulder really did feel like jelly and my face looked so much more relaxed and glowing! I was mind blown- I couldn't believe that all happened just from working on my teeth. My dad even took me out to eat after to "test" my bite and commented that I "could keep up with him" haha. Anyways, I've been going to the office almost every Saturday now for the past 2 months and I genuinely look forward to my appointments! I know I'm a fairly new patient but Doreen, Barbara, and Dr all make it feel like I've been coming here for years! From the beginning they have just been so welcoming, accommodating, and personable, that they make it so easy to talk to them & I always feel comfortable there. They bring out the talkative side of little introverted me. They also give me follow up calls a couple days after every appointment to check up on me and I truly appreciate that. THEY REALLY CARE! And again, I am so thankful that I came across them. Yes it's pricey, but honestly so worth it. It felt weird adjusting to my bite after each appointment because I wasn't used to it, but my bite feels more even & stronger now, I'm eating a lot better, there's been a SIGNIFICANT decrease with my jaw popping, my shoulders feel a lot lighter and I have more movement in my neck and arms. I feel like a better person all-around. If there's anything that I have to put my money into and invest in right now, I'm so glad it was for this procedure because I know it'll help me out in the long run. I went for my second appointment to follow up and informed Dr. Kashiwada that my bite feels great and that I am not experiencing the headaches and shoulder tightness anymore. Prior to seeing Dr. Kashiwada my Primary Care Provider (PCP) told me to take Tylenol and Motrin every 4-6 hours as needed. I was taking the medication for weeks before deciding to visit Dr. Kashiwada in regards to teeth adjustments. Amazingly, I felt relief soon after my first adjustment. The Tylenol and Motrin provides temporary relief but it did not solve the problem. I would highly recommend anyone who is having prolong headaches along with shoulder aches and tightness to give Dr. Kashiwada a call for an appointment. read more

The best dentist I have ever been to by far! The caring and friendly staff make you feel appreciated and remember the little conversations you have. They tell you more about your mouth than you will ever know from other dentists. They give you the prices of everything before they start the procedure so you aren't wondering the whole time "great, how much is this gonna cost me?" I've been going to Dr. Kashiwada's for years & I absolutely love this office!! Everyone is so friendly & personable. A few years ago Dr. Kashiwada did some adjustments to my bite. I was having tension headaches more and more frequently (almost daily) & also started noticing some jaw pain. I blamed it on the stress of nursing school & my upcoming board exam, but Dr. Kashiwada could tell my teeth weren't fitting together just right & recommended a bite adjustment. The process does take multiple appointments, depending on how much work needs to be done, but the appointments are pretty quick & painless. After just a few sessions, the jaw pain was gone and the tension headaches started to subside. Years later and still no jaw pain. I get an occasional headache, but NOTHING like before the adjustments (I have a pretty stressful job, so tension headaches are unavoidable). They're located in the building with the Wyland painting on the side near the airport. Very convenient & easy to find. Parking is validated & free as well. read more

The front office and hygienist staff are very friendly and always remembered my name and little things about me that made it feel like a personalized experience. However, Dr. Kashiwada was very pushy and insistent that I needed a $5000 procedure to smooth down the biting surfaces of my teeth. Insurance doesn't cover this procedure, and my research showed that it is not an accepted dental practice. What dentist would want to grind away perfectly good natural tooth material? Like another reviewer, he made fun of my night guard and refused to make me a new one that better fit my teeth. The night guard may not cure my grinding but it's better than nothing. I had an unpleasant experience getting a cavity filled and I got tired of the constant hard sells on the expensive procedure, so I sought out another dentist. I wish the doctor would be as kind and understanding of his patients as his staff are. read more

Unfortunately we are leaving the island and I will have to find another dentist... But one thing is for sure - I will never find a better dentist office anywhere. Since my last review, the only thing that has changed is my growing affection for Dr. Kashiwada and his staff. They are still amazing and have grown into extended family. They repaired a crappy filling (done by another dentist) with the upmost care. I even whitened my teeth and can say with confidence that my teeth are looking the best they have ever. They treated my daughters (10 & 12) who were extremely scared of the dentist but made it a safe and comfortable environment for them. They actually enjoy the dentist now :) I'm sad that were leaving and once again I'm anxious with trying to find a dentist. No other dentist office will replace this amazing crew. As you can see I never write reviews, however Dr. Kashiwada provides an exceptional service no one else is providing so I had to share my experience with anyone looking for the root cause of severe headache/neck ache/ shoulder pain relief. I have suffered with this shoulder & neck pain for many years and have tried many modalities: chiropractic, massage, PT, acupuncture, yoga, mindfulness etc (and wasted a lot of money) with maybe an hour or at most a day of relief. I was on the verge of starting on a stronger pain reliever: gabapentin (So many scary side effects) when I came upon Dr. Kashiwada and his protocol. I live in California so had to make arrangements to see him. But what better place to be? I enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful island as we intermittently met for treatment. Dr. Kashiwada was very patient in answering all my questions and had lots of material to go over concerning the treatment. He is very knowlegeable and personable with a no nonsense approach. He also was very accommodating with scheduling appointments within the time limitations that I had. All this was really the icing on the cake though, because the treatment, which was completely painless left me with NO neck/shoulder pain for the first time in I can't remember how long! I was really in shock and disbelief when I left the office after the first treatment, waiting for the pain to return... one hour... then two hours passed... then a day and 2 days... we did more treatments...and I left the islands 2 weeks later virtually pain free for the first time in YEARS!! Fast forward 5 weeks later I returned for more treatments and voila! Totally pain free again! I do need to say however the pain level at this 5 week interval was pretty negligible compared to when I first started treatment. The 'heaviness' I was experiencing of the neck and shoulder were lifted! Hands down this is one of the best financial investments I have ever made for my health and wellness. If you have chronic neck/ shoulder/ headache pain that medical doctors are only masking the pain with medications or therapies that only last a day or two you need to do yourself a favor and call Dr. Kashiwada. I look forward to the day when Dr. Kashiwada and I will consider me a graduate of his protocol! I am so happy with the results of this treatment! His entire team is warm, welcoming, considerate and outstanding at their job! The dentistry practices in the office are world class and he's truly the best choice for a dentist on Oahu. Have you ever gone to a dentist's office and smiled as soon as you step in the door? Now that's absurd you say? Well, it happens every time I go to Dr. Kashiwada's office. As soon as I walk into the waiting room I'm greeted by a chorus of voices welcoming me. Can't do anything but smile! Always reminds me of the TV show CHEERS ... Hey Norm! Now about the work they do ... I have a long history of dental issues. Root canals on most of my molars, cracked teeth, always something. I hated going to the dentist because I knew there would be major work needed guaranteed. A couple years ago I stumbled upon Dr. Kashiwada. He talked to me about my "bite". In all my 58 years of life no one has ever talked to me about my bite. (You know how your teeth are in the shape of a "U"? Well mine were in the shape of a "V".) He explained to me and showed me how my teeth were pounding on each other every time they came together, this was the reason for the cracked teeth, root canals etc. a big AH-HA moment there. He sent me to an orthodontist for a consultation. I was told that the only "possible" fix to my bite was to endure painful surgery with an approx. cost of $30k at a minimum. I'm honestly so thankful that my aunt recommended me to uncle Ron's office. Not only is he an amazing person, but an even greater dental hygienist with such an amazing staff with Aunty Barb and Aunty Doreen. They're a couple of the sweetest people I know, and I'm not just saying this... Experience it for yourself, you definitely won't be disappointed... But Today marks my third session for my TMJ, and my teeth and body already feel so amazing. Dr Ron was very informative about TMJ. He showed me all the articles, read reviews, showed me photos of what may happen, and much more. He even mentioned that insurance doesn't cover the cost, and I was honestly so worried because I wanted to make sure nothing would happen to my teeth and that I didn't need to get jaw replacement surgery. So, I started saving up... but unfortunately one day, sooner than I imagined, I woke up only to have chipped the crown of my tooth. I honestly started freaking out because the thought of the holes in my teeth and the damage that may be caused, I contacted Aunty Barb of what Happened and before you know it, not even two hours later, uncle Ron gives me a call and checks up on me to see what happened. They scheduled me in for an emergency appointment. But honestly, who does that, calls to check up on you to see how you're doing, does whatever they can to help you out, so that out of pocket procedures can be made, without hurting your finances... But anyways, before starting my first procedure, dr Ron had me feel the tension in my muscles and the tightness that it had, it was bad... I always complained and most times woke up with body aches/ tension or headaches... but after my first procedure was done, I instantly could feel the difference. My body seemed so much more relaxed and my bite felt more aligned. My bite felt so unified, that every time I tapped my teeth together, it seemed more in tune and louder... it's been about a week and a half since my first procedure, and my body feels great. I haven't woken up with a headache, and my body, around the areas of my shoulder blades feels so much better, sleeping on my sides doesn't cause a problem anymore. I know for many, including my self, the procedure may be costly due to the fact that it is out of pocket, but it is so worth it. The feeling you have, knowing that your body won't have so much tension and the migraines and headaches won't be a problem when waking up, has honestly been the best thing. I've been dealing with chronic headaches for years and thought it was caused by muscle tightness due to my posture. During one of my visits I had mentioned to Dr. Kashiwada about my headaches. He questioned how often was I getting these headaches, how long do they last, and do I wake up with a headache. After our discussion, he diagnosed me with TMJ and explained how it's causing muscle tension leading to my headaches. Dr. Kashiwada recommended an occlusion procedure that will help alleviate my headaches. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover this procedure but I was willing to try anything. My family and I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Ronald Kashiwada and his team (Barbara and Doreen) for over thirteen years. He was recommended to me by my Auntie Lourdes (God rest her soul) as a reputable, friendly, and highly experienced dentist. She was absolutely correct in her recommendation and we have not regretted that decision one bit over the years. When my family and I first arrived on island in 2005, my wife set up appointments for our initial examinations. Upon arrival for our first ever appointment, we immediately felt that we were part of the Ohana and that feeling has never waned. We were greeted by name, and to this day Barbara and Doreen still greet us by name and ask about how things are going in our lives. They do it with absolute sincerity and it's evident they truly care. That type of relationship, especially in a business, is hard to find today. He and his team conduct thorough checkups, identify any potential dental problems, and provide thoughtful recommendations. Care of the patient is first and foremost. Once the type of procedure is determined, Dr. Kashiwada and his team ensure you know what exactly is to take place and answer any questions. He even uses visual aids to reinforce his recommendation. Knowing what to expect, especially dental work, provides peace of mind. He leaves the decision making to the patient and fully supports whatever decision is made. If the decision is to proceed with the recommendation, he approaches it with absolute vigor and determination. The service we have received over the years has been phenomenal. Dr. Kashiwada has help correct some of the shortcomings we had with our past dental work. One major bit of work Dr. Kashiwada performed were dental adjustments to my wife's teeth. My wife was experiencing clicking jaws, headaches, sore teeth, and some partial cracking of teeth. She discussed her symptoms with Dr. Kashiwada. After the discussion and examination he made the recommendation for adjustments (TMJ). We consulted with him about the procedure and cost, which wasn't cheap, and decided to proceed. It was a godsend for my wife. She feels and is doing much better. The problems have disappeared, so the financial expense was well worth it. If you're having similar symptoms/problems as previously mentioned you might want to consider adjustments. Do your homework, talk to your dentist, and then go see Dr. Kashiwada. Let him be the dentist to do the adjustments. This isn't a paid endorsement at all, but more a testimonial. Another corrective bit of dental work Dr. Kashiwada performed was the replacement of my crowns on my front teeth. For years, my wife detested the work the military dentist did when replacing my front crowns. The existing crowns were discolored, bigger than the surrounding teeth, and protruded forward making me look a little bucked toothed. After many years, my wife decided to take things into her own hands and discussed the possibilities of replacing the crowns with Dr. Kashiwada. Having been my dentist for over a decade by now, Dr. Kashiwada knew my feelings about my front teeth and approached me about replacing my crowns. He was respectful and yet relentless in his approach for the replacement. After hearing him out and giving it some thought I relented. I decided to proceed with the replacements. Ever the perfectionist, Dr. Kashiwada wanted to make my new crowns look and feel like real teeth. He also wanted to make them symmetrical so I had a normal curvature of my teeth. No easy task. So, with the challenge he knew was present, he set out to make my teeth look better. Over two months, he and his team painstakingly performed the dental work to transform my teeth. The process, which involved a lot of work and multiple sittings, was surprisingly painless. They ensure you are comfortable and will continue to feel that way until the completion of the procedure. I felt little to no pain or discomfort during the entire procedure. At times, I was in the chair for over four hours. I have to say that it was all worth it. Dr. Kashiwada and his team did an exceptional job. I received three new crowns. They look and feel extraordinary and even resemble real teeth. Something my previous crowns were lacking. My family and friends have recognized my dental work and made positive comments on my teeth. Wow what can I say, I've been seeing Dr. K, Aunty Barb and Aunty Doreen since I was 2 years old! No joke, I saw my file the other day when I went in for my 6 month check up. They have done nothing but take the utmost best care of my family since way back when. They are more than a dentist group to us, they're our family and treated us like part of theirs too. Recently (maybe about a year ago), Dr. K noticed that my migraines were getting crazy (I've always been a suffer of them, but this was like every other day I was taking Excedrin or something else to try to dull the pain). He raised his eyebrows at me, and questioned me on how many migraines I've had in a month, how intense, do I wake up them with etc, then sat back and say "It's your teeth. Have I ever talked to you about TMJ? I should have connected the dots I just did these adjustments to your mom". At first you think "what the heck, no ways that's what that got to do with ANYTHING?!" and "DAMN that's frickin expensive! maybe I can live without it for a while." Well my mom, just having gone through the same thing said "what are you dumb! he's known you for almost 30 years! if he says its wrong FIX IT! He fixed mine and I can tell you it made a big difference, I don't go to the chiropractor once a week for my headaches. The experience to me was different than my moms. I don't have any cavities, and I haven't ever had any major dental work done, so the slight grinding and the smoothing gave me anxiety and I worked myself up over it. But overall, it wasn't so bad. Now that I've finished that part of it all, I can say that a few things are totally different for me: 1. My jaw used to pop and crack during every meal, and sometimes even when I was just talking. And when I say pop and crack, I mean PAINFULLY, like cracking a knuckle on your finger unintentionally. Not anymore! 2. My migraines (for the most part, except for those I was expecting for different reason) really decreased. I didn't wake up with them quite as often. Now that I know what the feeling is, I can also identify when I get a headache because I was grinding my teeth due to stress, and try to take some additional precautions to try to help me conscientiously not grind my teeth. 3. I have this herniated disk in my neck (a previous injury completely unrelated), that would cause my back and my neck kind of seize up and make it painful for my to put my arm down or turn my head left to right, the tension in my neck from the base of my head caused by the TMJ was actually making it worse, but now that I don't have that pain from TMJ, its must more manageable, and just back to the regular issue instead of a compounded issue. I had no idea that the grinding and clenching that I was doing was making my neck pain from that injury WORSE! If it wasn't for him explaining how it was making a difference I never would have known that going to the dentist would help this situation in my NECK and SHOULDER! In all honesty, after being with them for almost 30 years, I can honestly say I trust them wholeheartedly. They will only recommend things to you that they TRULY think you need. And make sure you are taken care. I mean, why else would a family of 4 who have actually moved around in different neighborhoods into different houses and had to change insurance plans with every job ever stick with Dr K and team for this long if we didn't believe and trust in them. read more

Ive been looking for a dentist thats not so intimidating, and scary. Dr. Kashiwada is by far intimidating or scary. He and his staff is wonderful! They go above and beyond to help me with my financial and treatments, make sure im well taken care of. I have alot going with my mouth but they make it easier to come in. I've been with Dr. Ronald Kashiwada and Ms. Doreen since I was in the 4th or 5th grade at St. Elizabeth School till now along with Ms. Barbara, she came into this, (I call them my exstended FAMILY), just when I started Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School. Even with Ms. Debbie and Ms Arlene. As long as I can remember, Dr. Kashiwada was always there for me and my family. (My Dad, My Mom, My son and Me out of my Siblings that is still going). Till this day, Dr. Kashiwada and his Staff has GENEROUSLY helped me with my Teeth throughout my years with them. What I mean by that, is that, even though knowing I don't have Dental Coverage for the time being, they would let me pay my bill in increments until I paid it off. That is a load off on me, but, I know on the Business side, Dr. Kashiwada and his Staff loses money that way. I Wished them everytime I go in for my appointments that the LORD above continues to BLESS them. I even pray that I hit the World's Biggest Money Jackpot so I could give them enough money where their set for LIFE! This may seem RIDICULOUS!, but, it's TRUE. Dr. Kashiwada and his Staff ALWAYS, ALWAYS, make sure that you are Comfortable and that you know what to expect before they start. They give you information and advice about your teeth situation, they definitely, give you options to decide from, before and after they do the examination. Dr. Kashiwada ALWAYS, while showing you your teeth situation to you, he would explain what would and could happen if you don't get your teeth done as soon as possible. He also, Confides with his Fellow Colleagues on their opinions on a Patients situation that he thinks might need, (This or That) to make sure that it's the right thing to do. I rather have Dr. Kashiwada get his opinions, from his Fellow Doctors and his Staff before working on his Patients then get it wrong and get a Law Suit against him. At one time left to see another Dentist and I REGRET it! At one point, I wish I hadn't left at all. But, I'm back at the Office once again and I'll NEVER leave, until they Retire. So, people! This is how density should be done. For decades, my family had been seen by another dentist, and we didn't know what we were missing by not going to Dr. Kashiwada for our dental needs. My child had large cavities that had somehow gone undetected by the prior dentist. When they were found, the prior dentist didn't want to do the fillings and insisted that I needed to take my 6 year old to a pediatric specialist for crowns and root canals because the fillings were so large (again not really sure how these were missed before...). Anyway, Dr. Ronald and his team to the rescue. They managed to see us in 2 days (fitting us in during their lunch hour and also staying later). The cavities were large, but Dr. Kashiwada is outstanding at his dental craft. Not only did he fill the cavities, he (and his team, Doreen and Barb) have converted my daughter to a dentist office lover. They make dental work approachable to kids; explaining what is happening on a level kids understand. My child legitimately had a blast during her cavity fillings (I didn't know that was even possible). I had no idea how poor of a dental experience I had had in my childhood and adulthood, but my children will have an outstanding dental experience thanks to Dr. Kashiwada and his office. I met with my dentist, Dr. Kashiwada to check on removing all the metals from my mouth and replace with porcelain. After all these years of his complimenting on my healthy gums, I wasn't ready for the recommendations he made for procedure(s) to abate the damages to my teeth and jaw bones from a Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, TMJ. Long story short, I got my first TMJ adjustment by his drilling down obstructive parts of my molars to make my teeth fit top to bottom. Without these adjustments, no sense putting porcelain, as they would get worn down and chipped or cracked like my current situation. I had no clue this was going on in my mouth. He made me chop my teeth together to listen to the sound, so I could compare before with after. He showed me the red and black tapes and the marks on my teeth. By the time I left, my choppers all met together to play a lovely chopping concerto, whereas before it came mainly from my right side. Just like he said, I'd finish eating a lot faster. Yuuuup the Veitnamese roll loaded with julienned carrots, herbs and sprouts, wrapped in Chinese cabbage, down the hatch. Mo easy now to chew. And the clicking sound of my jaw hinge is subsiding, but still not entirely gone. Lucky for me I didn't have any headaches all these years from me grinding my teeth at night while asleep (I guess) and the unaligned jaw. But the chipped, almost cracked teeth whew! Close call, not to mention the loss of cartilage in-between the jaw and skull... It'll take more adjustments until the jaw and skull are totally aligned. I'm almost there. The first procedure was an incredible experience. Don't wait till it's too late. Some people wait till they can barely open their mouth. You gotta check Dr. K out! After that's all taken care of, he'll put the porcelain on. read more

I've been going to Dr. Kashiwada's office for as long as I can remember and I've never left there upset with my visit. But one thing I have been most happy with is after noticing I've been waking up almost daily with headaches and jaw pain Dr. Kashiwada noticed my bite needed to be adjusted. It did take a few appointments but totally worth it! It's been at least a few years since the adjustments and I still haven't had any morning headaches or jaw pain like I used to. I had a very bad experience at this office. The dentist was very salesman like and spent 45 minutes trying to sell me a $3000 service for TMJ which he said probably wouldn't even help me. I went in to discuss with him my receding gums which is caused by Bruxism which he told me "wasn't that bad because I don't even need surgery yet". I was hoping to avoid surgery and he didn't seem to understand or have empathy that I was interested in prevention. He also seemed dumbfounded that my issue was caused by bruxism, which I was surprised by because every dentist I spoke to says it is. He thought it was silly that I was concerned about my gums and even laughed at me for worrying. He and the hygienist also laughed at me for using a cheap mouth guard at night because that apparently makes bruxism worse. I cried during the entire appointment. I was there for an exam as well and at the end of the appointment they asked for my payment and I asked if I had any cavities. They said they would call me. I said I wanted to know now and they said they couldn't read the xrays because they were still wet. I've never heard that before. The dentist never called me to discuss my xrays. I called another dentist to request my xrays and they said they couldn't send because I still owed $25. I called them to pay and they don't take credit cards. A month and a half later and I am just receiving care for my cavities from another dentist. In my opinion this dentist is making a killing off these TMJ jaw treatments and should be able to run a better operation than this!! Update: I just found out that when they sent my xrays they didn't share any observations about my exam! Just the X-rays so my new dentist can't tell me if I have any cavities unless I gonna I in for another exam. This is really frustrating. What's the point of an exam if you don't find out what the diagnosis is? read more

I strongly recommend Dr. Kashiwada if you're looking for a dentist. I've been coming here since I was a child and continued to stay with them as an adult. There is a family like bond at this dentistry that gives you a sense of trust and comfort. The staff is very friendly, caring, and kind. I recently got my teeth aligned because I have a history of TMJ. I was grinding/clenching in my sleep and it was cracking my teeth. I've gotten headaches, muscle tension, and soreness in my jaw area because my bite was not lined up correctly. I decided to do the procedure to save my teeth from future damage, which will eventually lead to more crowns or even worst, false teeth. I was hesitant at first because insurance doesn't cover the cost, but it was one of the best decisions I made and it was totally worth it. After the first visit, I felt so relaxed and loose in the shoulders. The procedure is pain free and it took about 5 visits to align my teeth corretly. My bite feels amazing and my headaches have gone away. I was surprised how fast it worked. Dr. Kashiwada is very knowledgeable and excellent at his craft. I really urge you to consult with him if you are looking for a dentist or have a history of TMJ (grinding, clenching, headaches, back pain, etc). I have been seeing Dr. Kashiwada now for the past 5 years. I wish I could post before and after pictures of my teeth because my transformation has been unbelievable. I am a heavy grinder and clencher, so over the years (I'm 42 yo) I have grinded my teeth down, past the enamel, and down to half the normal size in height of my back teeth, to the point where I was grinding down my front teeth. Dr. Kashiwada developed a personal plan of care for me which included increasing the height of my teeth, then applying crowns over them. He prioritized the plan of care and always took the time to explain everything to me step by step, making sure that I felt comfortable and that I understood why he was doing what he needed to do. The results are outstanding! I now feel more confident when I laugh out loud and crack up with my mouth wide open because prior to the procedures, I would hold back when I laughed and was always self conscious about my back teeth. I would highly recommend him to any of my family and friends. In addition, Dr. Kashiwada, and his team (Barbara and Doreen) are like extended family to me. Over the years, I have established a trust and an increase of comfort and warmth with them that I have never had with any of my doctors or dentists in my past.
