I don't understand the positive reviews for Dr. Leslie because my experience with him around July 2025 was extremely concerning and has caused ongoing dental problems. I've had extensive dental work throughout my life and normally get treatment in Korea, but I needed emergency care after a chipped tooth caused a filling to fall out. The procedure on one tooth took around 3 hours, and there seemed to be repeated complications throughout. Afterward, I experienced SEVERE pain and sensitivity unlike anything I had ever experienced from a filling or crown. The pain continued for months, and I recently learned the tooth developed an infection, due to the restoration not sealed and fitted properly. I was also uncomfortable with the hygiene practices during the appointment. At one point, he touched multiple surfaces and opened drawers with the same gloves he was using for my procedure, and I had to ask him to change them. At that point he gave me major attitude, too. Super unprofessional. Last but not least, they were extremely pushy for payment before the procedure ever began. I had to pay in full the first time they took an impression of my tooth. Overall, the experience was below poor, and it resulted in long-term pain and complications for me. I'm really upset. read more

Came in for a Groupon cleaning in 2022 and they recommended that I replace my fillings from when I was a kid. They tried to schedule me but I couldn't afford it because I don't have insurance. Went to a different dentist 3 years later in 2025 to check it out and he said honestly they look good and it would be unnecessary to replace them. Always get a second opinion. They were friendly though and easy going. read more

My family and I have been coming to Dr AU's for over 17 years. Need I say more? Not once have we thought about finding another doctor of hygienist. Both Dr Au and their excellent hygienists are by far the best I have experienced in my life. The hygienists are extremely nice and courteous. Dr Au is excellent at what he does. This building is kind of hard to find, but it's located in Honolulu, just follow the gps. It's on the 5th floor and when you come out of the elevator you'll see where it's at. The staff here and friendly, the receptionist, dentists and dental assistants. I came here twice once for a in office teeth whitening/Invisalign consultation in which I got a teeth whitening session, imprints of my teeth, and a teeth whitening kit from a Groupon. The second time I got another Groupon for what I thought was teeth whitening again but it was just for the kit. I ended up just getting gel refills for the previous set that I had received from the first visit, which I was okay with, I wish it had said that on the Groupon, because it did not state that. Dr Au just replaced a composite filling & put a protective coating on a tooth that was wearing away below the gum line. Replacing the filling prevented a future crown. This was all done in 1 hour with minimal discomfort. Dr Au explains everything that he is doing, instilling confidence during the procedures. His work is beautiful & long lasting. I bought a LivingSocial deal for an Invisalign Exam, Teeth Whitening, X-Rays, & $500 to spend towards Invisalign, X-rays, and teeth whitening. Long story short, my teeth started to become crooked after wearing braces (from another business) for 4 years and the retainers given to me never fit properly so I decided I would purchase this deal and see if I could get them straight again. However, I was highly disappointed in the lack of customer service. The only time I was able to get through, a very rude woman answered my call. I was telling her about the deal I bought and she had a horrible attitude. It was extremely unprofessional. She refused to let me come in to fulfill my LivingSocial deal. I've tried calling again to make appointments many times and have never been called back. I even tried their online appointment booking feature. Nothing. I bought this deal in July of 2013 and have still yet to hear back from them after the multitude of times I've tried contacting them just to make an appointment. Very disappointing as this business seems to have some good reviews about Dr. Au but not so much so for the receptionist. She needs to learn some manners when talking to new clients. I love Dr. Au! His staff is great too. First dentist I've seen who did not want to do unnecessary dental work. Dr. Au actually tells you what your options are and lets you decide what you want to do or can afford. I've had so many dentists tell me that certain spots are "developing cavities" so we should just drill now, i.e. more money in their pockets. o_O Dr. Au is so nice, on my first visit -- a dental cleaning when I didn't have insurance -- he gave me a free x-ray so that we could better check-out a problem spot. read more

Came in on a Living Social deal for an exam, x-rays and Spa Whitening for $70. The office is nice and the staff are friendly. They also fully validate your parking, which is awesome! Dr. Au did a quick exam and shared a lot of information with me, more so than any other dentist I've been to. He was friendly, but seemed rushed. After my exam, he said he'd be back to check my x-rays, and although he popped in to look at them, he never wrapped up with me or checked on my progress after poking at my teeth. Maybe because I was there on deal and not a regular customer? The Spa Whitening treatment was entirely done by the assistant. I saw some results, but nothing major. For the price I paid, I'm satisfied, but I think it regularly goes for $150 and if I'd paid that, I would've been really disappointed. It's quick -- about 30 minutes of sitting in front of a UV light with gel on your teeth. I wish they'd give you SPF lip balm to put on before the procedure, though. All I could think about were my lips shriveling up in old age thanks to the direct UV hit. Overall, a decent experience, but I'll probably revisit my old dentist when it's time for my next check-up. I also don't think the visit is complete without a good CLEANING, so I would've paid a little more for the voucher if that had been included. read more

Dr. Au gave me my smile back! I had a terrible vaneer done on the mainland, it was my front tooth and it ended up bigger than my other teeth, would get caught on my lower lip - it looked so fake and it kept popping off! I was miserable. Dr. Au was so knowledgeable and suggested a crown. He explained the entire procedure and gave me a lot of his time to ask questions until I completely understood. They made the crown the day of my appointment - right there in their office. They have state of the art equipment. Holly his assistant was so caring and sweet the entire visit. Anyway, the initial cleaning was amazing, very thorough and precise. I will be back for that again. So, Dr. Au, came in and examined my teeth and notified me of a few issues - not too bad. He also informed me about Invisalign for my teeth. This is my second time here and I mean to tell u, he spent almost 45 min explaining to me what it can do for me, how it will help me and much more. He's always very rushed. It made me feel like I was holding him up or something. Bad experience with Invisalign. Would recommend Invisalign, but not definitely by this Dr. Newer receptionist (not his daughter) has a major attitude. She's not knowledgeable or helpful at all. Won't try to fit you in and punishes you if you have to miss an appointment. I have to leave the island with all my ugly Invisalign attachments still bonded to my teeth because she won't fit me in this week. I know I missed an appointment, but really??? I purchased a $1,000 credit towards Invisalign on Groupon and was a little skeptical since I forgot to read reviews on Dr. Au first. This was due to how anxious I've been to fix my teeth for years. Fortunately, I had a terrific experience despite how little time I had left in HI. Dr. Au addressed all of my concerns and his recommendations left me with more than I could've asked for. I'm now half way through my treatment as I took advantage of the Propel procedure ($800) which shortens treatment time. Because I left island about a month after he took my impressions, he worked very hard to expedite my case without sacrificing a great result. Also, since I wouldn't be on island at the end of my treatment, the cost of my retainers was taken off which brought my total to $4,800 for treatment and Propel. Dr. Au was very knowledgeable and informative, not to mention very nice and pleasant to talk to. I can't speak for other people's experiences, but I would definitely recommend this office to anyone considering getting Invisalign! read more

I don't even know why the people who gave this Dentist bad or mediocre reviews. I've had, if nothing short of a perfect dental experience. I like many have put off going to the dentist FOR YEARS!! My partner made the appointment for me since I kept putting off. I am so glad I went. My dental work is pretty much complete and feeling excellent. The staff is so great and accommodating. I NEVER have a problem getting an appointment. Dr. Au himself is great. I have never been to a dentist in my life that actually takes the time to explain what and why he's suggesting a procedure, what causes certain dental problems and is great at offering preventive care. I don't feel he's ever rushed or trying to get you off the chair to take the next person in. Anyone looking for a dentist should make an appointment with his office now. You won't regret it. This review is long past due. I too was drawn to his office from a livingsocial deal for invisalign. Dr. Au is very thorough about explaining every process. You will get a dental education from this dentist whether you like it or not! I love his staff (Sylvia, Lisa and Crystal) and with the numerous appointments required along the process, it was always a pleasant experience despite the obvious impending doom that is having to get dental work. Growing up, I always had a terrible dental experience which resulted in me going to the dentist only when I had a problem. Today I just got the most amazing technologically advanced dental procedure ever: the in-house crown. For those who aren't familiar with the ass pain of getting a crown, it's when you tooth is pretty much riddled with holes (mines was due to a huge metal filling that was old and leaking) which usually entails a lengthy process of getting drilled, molded and capped temporarily. That is a thing of the past. Dr. Au uses this slick 3D printer looking contraption and MADE me a freakin' tooth in 40 minutes. He had to prep the tooth hole which is an art form and make everything fit right which made the appointment 4 hours long. This is a vast improvement from the multiple appointments over several weeks for a typical crown. Also fun fact; Dr. Au is an accomplished magician which I think is totally awesome! I hope he never retires since I attribute my much nicer grill to his talents. read more
