Determined not to put any new holes in my wall while also wanting cool looking shelves, I came across the 3M Command display shelves online. A bunch of different stores carried them but Rona had them at the best price point and they were even cheaper than on Amazon! I was able to find which Rona had them in stock which led me here. However, unlike the Canadian Tire stores, I wasn't able to find out which aisle the product was in. Rona has pretty good signage with hanging banners that tell you what the general category of items is and then specifics for each of the aisles. We headed over to the shelving aisle. We couldn't find anything after a quick walkthrough so I asked an employee where to find the item. He was able to lookup the item quickly on his handheld scanner and told us exactly where to go. The staff don't bother picking up their phones. Their loss. I tried 3 times to call and request confirmation of stock of 3 BBQs for our communal condo terrace and a large corporation sent their customers to voicemail. Note: I did call during working hours, no excuses! We will spend our money at Home Depot where their staff know how to pick up the phone! read more

I was gifted a washer and dryer set (from mom and dad for Christmas) from Rona. XPO was the delivery company contracted to deliver and install my washer and dryer. Their contractor(s) neglected to connect the washer hose to the drain thereby flooding my home with over 147L of water from the 5.2 ft.³ washing machine. Then they had the nerve to blame me for it by saying I asked them not to connect the hose to the drain!! WHY ON EARTH WOULD I HAVE DONE THAT?!? Neither Rona nor XPO have taken any responsibilities for the damages. I had to go through my home insurance and now I will be filing a lawsuit against both companies. This was a brand new house. Myself and my children just moved in in May. I am devastated. I spent 3 days crying. My house still has not been repaired. THEY SINGLEHANDEDLY RUINED MY CHRISTMAS. We lost our tv, tv stand, Wii console, bedding, Christmas gifts and more. The W/D was located on the second floor, the water went through the floor, into the drywall and ceiling and damaged the first floor also. I am profoundly traumatized by what has happened. I'm crying again as I write this. After over a dozen emails to both companies and getting no response or assistance, I have filed a lawsuit. I'm disgusted by the lack of empathy from both these companies. Shame on you all!! read more

Worst location ever! And this fella makes the Rona name suffer even worse (as if the closing of several Rona locations is a sign of its future). O'Neil is the name. Smug attitude on him, he refused to price match an item that was matched by 2 other Rona locations. The "real" store manager was called upon and after explaining that to him, he asked why this guy didn't do it for me. And he just walked away. Real classy guy lol. read more

RATING FOR GARDEN CENTRE: It's October and they still have a decent selection of indoor plants. Most other places (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart) have very limited stock on hand but Rona has a decent amount to choose from: house plants, ornamentals, tropical plants, orchids, etc. You have to be a savvy shopper and look for the bargains though because some are overpriced. Today huge palms were on sale for $8.99! They also have a clearance section where you can score some big deals. read more

First off, let me preface this by saying that this review is after 3 visits and 4 calls to this location in the last month, so it's as accurate as can be in my opinion: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Each time I have come here, I have to look for and/or wait for someone to help me at the actual service desk of each department (Paint, Windows/doors, etc). Average wait time is 8 minutes before someone arrives with the 'You are disturbing me because I'm SO busy' face and attitude. The amazing thing is that there are a good amount of people walking around in smocks drinking Tims coffee, talking to one another and acting like they don't see you! "But Naomi!" you say, "These people work here!" Indeed they do! If by 'work', you mean scatter like cock roaches when you turn the lights on, because this is exactly what they do when they see customers! Don't believe me? Go in and look for yourself; or try actually calling the store to talk to someone at the desk. You will have to wait up to 8min while being transferred back and forth from the holding music, before someone actually picks up to help you. In which case you might be doubly screwed because they will probably tell you that they have an item, only for you to drive 30min from downtown Toronto for them to tell you, "Actually, we don't have it. Not sure who you talked to, but sorry. Did you get a name??" No, I did not think I needed to ask for the name of the person who told me they had said product after checking the product number that I gave them 30 minutes ago. The really sad thing is that this is a Canadian company that I would rather support than their American competition; but there are charities that I feel deserve my donations, and they are much easier to deal with. Went to look at a custom made bathroom vanity. It was 6;25pm and was told to come back the next day at 9:30am as the person who can help me was gone for the day. Turns out Carmen was still there with a customer so I waited. She saw me, asked if I'm waiting and told me her shift ends in 2mins so can't help me, but offered to phone me the next day. She then realized she is off so I'd have to come back. I asked if there was anyone else who can help. She got flustered, responded, "if you could find someone else....I shouldn't be telling you all this..." I asked to see a manager who confirmed the only person who could give me a quote for a custom vanity was Carmen and NO ONE ELSE!!!! I left....went next door to Lowes where Shameer was more than happy to help me and I purchased my vanity at Lowes. read more

I'm surprised to read the bad press that this particular Rona has received, for sure what I have read would send me to Lowes also, however, today I called to verify that the stock listed of a particular item was actually on the shelf before I drove 25 minutes to the store. I spoke to a young man named Matt who listened to my request, then actually went to the shelf and verified the items were really there. He asked for my name and number and said he would check and call me back. Surprise surprise....... after about1/2 an hour, Matt called me back to let me know that he had put the items aside in a bag with my name and number on it, he left the bag at the millwork counter ready for me to pick up. Its unfortunate that some employees in many companies don't take customer service to heart and realize it is the customer who spends their money at the store that actually gives the employees a place to work. Thanks Matt........... Rona Manager, who ever you are, I suggest that you give Matt the job of training the other staff in what customer service is all about! Treating customers like they are important. instead of treating the customer like the employees of Rona are doing them a favour in helping them. read more

This Canadian hardware store chain is hard to beat. Their prices and product selection is suits my needs. This location has ample parking and usually full stock. Be prepared to wander the store for inspiration for your next home renovation project. read more
