Ron may have done a good job selling our home but we never got that far. We had an appointment set about 2 weeks in advance, and Ron had emailed me to confirm. He then emailed me a few days before the appointment to reconfirm, which I did. On the day of, we were very busy and scheduled our whole day around this appointment. We got home just in time, and waited for Ron to show up. While I was waiting, I decided to check my email, and saw that Ron had emailed me 1.5 hours prior to reconfirm the appointment again, and to give him a call. I tried calling him, and got his VM, so I replied to his email saying we are home and waiting on him. He responded saying that he scheduled another meeting because I did not reconfirm on his last email. I asked him why he sent a last minute email instead of calling me, since we were already confirmed for the appointment. He responded by saying he is very busy. Thanks for wasting my time Ron. Do not use Ron Arriola if you need someone to be your advocate. He just wants a sale at the highest price even when representing a buyer, and wants you to use his contacts and friends for all the other business. When things go wrong the first thing he does is blame everyone around him and never steps up with a solution or an offer to help. He no longer lives near Long Beach and will do anything to not make that drive. That is the basics. If you want specifics, here is what he did to us: Ron drove us around one afternoon. He took us to a house his friend was listing first. We liked it but it was overpriced and did not meet all our needs. We saw a few other places but he had not reached out to any of the agents whose properties were not having a showing. The one property I wanted to se was not having an open house and I nearly had to beg him to call to see if we could see it. (First red flag) He instead took us back to his friend's house to let us see it again. (Second red flag). Then he tried to say it was getting too late to call the listing agent for the last house I really wanted to see. I begged. He called. They let us in. That is the house we put an offer in on. They countered with a rediculous counter offer (even the listing agent said it was off the reservation). Instead of helping us come up with a viable counter offer...he hemmed and hawed and played the "if you really want the house..." game. We didn't go for it, came up with our own counter offer...which was accepted (yes...his commission went down). Then after the inspection, there were items we really wanted fixed. When the listing agent said the sellers didn't want to, Ron said okay and then just sent us the papers to sign. When I read it and realized not all the items were on the list I asked him about it. Then he tells me the sellers don't want to fix those and that if I don't sign today we will be in breach. There were numerous other issues and little half truths and white lies along the way (including his friendship with the escrow officer). But the final straw was handing over the keys. Now granted the relationship had completely deteriorated...but here is how he handed the keys..."Ok...so the key to the garage is under the brick in the planter next to the side door (pic attached of a bush). Once you open the garage door under this yellow capped aerosol spray can in the garage. (pic of spray cans attached). The remainder of the keys are in the drawer to the right hand side of the kitchen sink." He sent me on a damned scavenger hunt to get in to the house I purchased which paid him a shit load of money in his commission. At least we got a good laugh about it after the fact. read more

I was a first time buyer who knew nothing about purchasing a home. I went looking at Open Houses but didn't find many agents interesting in talking ... until I met Ron.
