Visited Romy's booth at the Aurora street festival this summer. They had several options for food, but the crispy curry chicken roll was what intriqued my partner. The curry chicken roll was like a large spring roll, thin wrap exterior lightly fried with small bread crumbs. The inside was a mix of potatos, curry and chicken. It was delicious and the sauce they had for the roll only augmented the flavour. Sampling the chicken roll has made us want to try the restaurant if we are ever in the area. We were visiting Toronto for the Thanksgiving Holiday and we asked friends for a nice lunch recommendation and they recommended Romy's. This place is absolutely a gem. * Reservations: The restaurant is small so definitely make a reservation if you can. They are open only for lunch, they have take out during the day and since they are not open for dinner they have fresh prepared dishes that can be picked up for dinner with instructions on how to warm them and serve at home. * Ambiance: The restaurant is very clean and has an outstanding ambiance. * Service: The staff is extremely courteous and helpful in picking out the dishes and talking through their specials. The Chef even spent time with us. Him and his wife run the restaurant and they are a lovely couple; it is obvious they have poured their life and soul in this restaurant. * Food: The menu speaks for itself (see pic). I went there with my family and I swear I wanted to order a few dishes to try but settled on one for now. I can guarantee you that I will be back. Here is what we ordered: Appetizers - We ordered fries and the Casava Croquettes. They were absolutely to die for. For the table they brought in homemade plantain chips and casava chips. The sauce that came with the Casava Croquettes was very unique and super tasty. Mains - Peppercorn Steak Sandwich: I ordered this sandwich and I have to say it was the perfect size (not too big and not too small). The Swiss cheese was high quality and the beef was cut in bite sized chunks that complemented the sandwich perfectly. The chef had some crispy fried onions on the top which was a nice accent to the sandwich...each bite was incredible. I got the salad for my side which was tossed with a vinaigrette dressing and it was very tasty. - Halloumi Grilled Cheese: My wife ordered this with a side of salad and she thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich. - Penne with Cream Sauce (added Chicken): My 7 year old ordered this (added chicken) from the adult menu and there was only one bite left at the end. I tried the alfredo sauce and it was a PERFECT sauce - not too heavy or cheesy but very rich and tasty. - Grilled Striploin: My 14 year ordered this. The strip was not fatty and perfectly seasoned. The vegetables that came with it were crunchy and lightly seasoned (perfect amount of salt and taste) - cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, and carrots. I had to try them b/c they looked like they were cooked almost perfectly (not over done and had a great shine that they were just perfect). Desert - Apple Crumble: My kids ordered this and we tried it. It was very fresh and not overpoweringly sweet; it was great. Coffee - My wife and I ordered the cappuccino and the presentation was just outstanding I would HIGHLY recommend you try this restaurant; I know the next time we are in town we will be visiting Romy's again. A few things of note: 1) The price of the meal was totally affordable which was shocking given the quality of the meal, the ambiance, and the service. 2) This place is kid friendly; the kid's menu is attached. 3) The restaurant offers catering services for private parties. I can't believe I only just discovered Romy's! I wish I had known about this resto sooner. We ordered from their curb side menu for dinner today as they are not open for indoor dinning just yet and everything was delicious. The veggie frittered was the hubby's favourite while the empanadas was mine. It had just the right amount meat inside a crispy yet chewy dough. I particularly liked the green sauce that accompanied the empanadas, it really enhanced the flavour. As for the meat ravioli, each piece was almost the size of my palm! As soon as I opened the lid, I can smell the aroma of fresh basil and tomato sauce. It tasted even better. As for the eggplant parmigiana, I'm not a huge eggplant parmigiana fan but this dish was quite good. I particularly like the fresh seasonal veggies that came with the dish. I'm a fan of Romy's! You can certainly see and taste the quality and freshness of their food. Plus they won me over with free short bread cookies that were just to die for. The owner/chef was super friendly and they need our support during these hard times. Get take out for your next family meal! Support local. You won't regret ordering from Romy's. read more

I have ordered Take Out a number of times now from Romy's and all I can say is WOW!!! The Curbside pickup is seamless and easy, (especially during Covid-19) First time we ordered take out, we ordered the Chicken Skewers and Vegetable Fritters and they were perfection. The chicken was cooked beautifully, and they were able to work around allergies I had, and accommodated with great options (for example, I could not have tzatiki sauce, so they had put in freshly made hummus) The vegetables fritters were SO good, that I had to order them again recently with our next take out order. The tamarind sauce accompanies the fritters perfectly. They do not get soggy which could be a concern, but they still had a crisp to them. The most recent take out order we did, we had the Mixed Grill, Grilled Salmon and Vegetable Fritters with a side of rice. The Mixed Grill was TO DIE FOR!!!! The steak was like eating butter, it melted in your mouth, the chicken was so simply perfect, and the sausage had so much flavor. The Salmon was cooked to perfection and the Maple Pommery Sauce is delicious on literally ANYTHING! When we got home with our order, we noticed there was an added treat which was the most delectable brownies I think I have ever had. This is our second curbside order from Romys. The first time we have an amazing meal we realize it might be good luck - when it happens a second time we start to think they are doing things right. I had the cassava fries with guacamole dip to start - hot and crisp on the outside soft and warm on the inside and the dip has just the right amount of heat. My wife started with the arugula salad - nice and fresh with a pleasant balance of ingredients. My choice for the main was the grilled cornish hen. It was tender and moist and flavorfully seasoned. It was accompanied with delightful triangles of fried polenta and a generous and appealing medley of fresh sauteed vegetables - my idea of the perfect meal. My wife had the seafood linguine and was as delighted as the first time - nicely el dente, big juicy shrimp and scallops. The chef made the minor modification we requested (no clams or mussels) - good attention to detail. I like that we have a choice of sauces because my wife isnt a fan of cream sauce so the tomato wine suits her fine. And the brownie! Silky rich chocolate heaven. All this comes in foil containers - great to keep it hot and fresh (environmentally conscious too - recyclable). And it was all ready right on time. Thanks Romys! read more
