I was surprised at how she was able to keep them engaged. She showed us all around Rome, took amazing pictures, took us to a coffee shop and got the kids gelato. He was personable, clear in his explanations, and attentive to our needs throughout the tour. What made it especially memorable was how he connected with our kids--getting them excited about gelato was a fun touch that they still talk about! The golf cart was a lifesaver, making it easy to visit several sites that would have been impossible to reach with a 5-year-old and 2-year-old in tow. We even opted for the cart to pick us up from the hotel so it was seamless from beginning to end. The car seat for our youngest was clutch. Actually the ride was so soothing that our 2 year old fell asleep for part of the trip. Chris also introduced us to the Roman Orange Garden, a peaceful spot we'd never have found on our own. While many sites in Rome are walkable, this tour gave us the freedom to explore comfortably as a family, and we truly appreciated the balance of convenience and insight. If you are someone who love to do all the research ahead of time, then maybe this tour is too surface level for you. I would recommend a more targeted tour for the Coliseum or Vatican City. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend LivTours--and especially Chris--for families looking for an stress-free way to experience Rome.

I…read moreunderstand there can be language differences, but as someone who speaks both Italian and English, even I couldn't understand the hybrid way the guide spoke - he left the whole group not understanding a single word. The explanations were monotone, the emphasis was on the wrong syllables and oddly, every word that should start with a vowel started with an H. Helephant. Hantelope. Height-Height. Also far too much time was spent on his binder of web photos. I'm not sure what company this guide was contracted through (as I'm fairly certain The Roman Guy uses third parties now, which is different from the first time I used them a few years ago), but TRG needs to review the fluency of their guides. This was my third tour of the Colosseum over the past few years and it was a complete waste of money. It was supposed to be only an hour and after 90 minutes of not comprehending a word we finally left. Since the official Colosseum site makes it not easy to secure tickets directly, I'm just viewing the whole experience as an overpriced entry ticket. Many people in our group just took their earpieces off after a certain point. Regarding the actual tour booking and the days leading up to it, I received a message a few weeks prior stating that the tour could not happen at the scheduled time due to operational issues, and would I be open to coming later in the day? They asked me to choose an option (which there was no second option presented but I presumed it was a refund) so I told them I would just take the refund as we had a flight to catch during the revised time. They wrote me back immediately and said that "they were just checking on if I could take the new time but the scheduled time is still fine". Very confusing, is it cancelled for operational reasons or not? The whole thing was just odd and I won't be booking again.

One would think this would be quite a challenge with these destinations being far apart, especially with the needs of an aging parent. Casa Mia Tours took this challenge head on. Gina, Eleanora and Carolyn gave so much of their time to consult with us about every detail: must see's, train itineraries and tickets, personal van transfer services, restaurants recommendations and reservations, personal tour guides, wine and food tours/tastings, ferry schedules, best spots for desserts and espresso, best walking and shopping neighborhoods, and so much more. Casa Mia Tours created a detailed itinerary for each day of our trip- from where we might want to eat to the schedule of our trains rides and van pick up to our tours for the day. Once we got to Italy, Casa Mia was available to lend a hand in any way to help make our experience as enjoyable as possible. They even helped with an unexpected trip to the ER with our mom! The personalized service from Casa Mia Tours is top notch, 5 stars, the best! Our family memories of this once-in-a-lifetime trip will be with us all forever. Thank you, Casa Mia Tours (Carolyn, Eleanora and Gina) for making this dream trip a reality for all of us, especially our mom. "

They are a one stop shop for everything including food itineraries, cooking classes, food tours and experiences. The thing I love most about this company is that they take time to listen to what you're looking for and cater to exactly what you want. I have taken 2 food tours with Gina and she is extremely knowledgeable and was able to take us to some of the best places for coffee, sweets, cheese, wine, snacks and pizza in Rome. She also booked us dinner reservations at places that are authentic and difficult to reserve. You will never find yourself at a tourist trap as long as you consult with Casa Mia. We also booked a private transfer from the Naples train station to our hotel in Sorrento with them and their driver was on time, easy to locate and extremely friendly. I took a private cooking class in Sorrento with Marcella in her home and it was the best lesson I have ever taken. I learned how to make delicious food and after the lesson, my family joined us to eat the meal we prepared in one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen in my life. We took a private tour of the Amalfi coast and our driver took us to so many beautiful cities. He made us lunch reservations at a restaurant with the most stunning views of Amalfi that served food created with ingredients grown in their private organic garden located below the restaurant. At each stop, he provided us with recommendations of where to visit in each town. Casa Mia also provided us with recommendations of places to buy food souvenirs, find artisanal gelato, tasty street food and pizzerias in each city we have visited. Do not plan a trip to Italy without consulting with these experts. They will help make sure you have the best time in the most beautiful country in the world. If you are not planning a trip to Italy in the near future, I also highly recommend their online cooking classes. I took many of them during the lockdown in 2020 and learned how to make delicious meals for my family.

We were picked up in a clean huge Mercedes passenger van. Domenico was pleasant to talk to but I had a sense he was more of a reserved person. He did answer questions and make suggestions though when asked. This was charged at a flat rate. Our second scheduled day Rolando was able to make it. This was a day in Rome where we wanted him to essentially chauffeur us through various religious sites. We gave him a list and depending on time he figured out the best way to see what we could. He would literally drop us off in front of any site and wait for us. This was pretty helpful as some of the churches were a bit far from where we were staying in Rome and we would have been zigzagging on public transportation in sweltering June heat. The comfortable air conditioned MBZ minivan was so much easier. Rolando suggested an awesome lunch at La Carbonara (see review). This day was charged at an hourly rate. Our third day was a last minute addition. He had a cancellation so we decided to have Rolando bring us to the Umbria region where there were medieval towns. This included stopping at Assisi, Civita, and Orvieto. These were magnificent to visit. Again Rolando suggested an awesome place to eat in Assisi. This was charged at a flat rate. Rolando takes pride in his vehicles keeping them clean. He stocks them with water for you and the vehicle is WIFI equipped. Rolando is very personable. He gave unsolicited information about places we were passing by so we had not just a driver but a tour guide. I totally recommend him!
