If you don't need to stay overnight, go on down the road. Unfortunately, this seems to be the least…read moreobjectionable place to stay in Hillsboro. It's been over a year since my last visit and nothing has changed. Corporate Days Inn obviously does NOT check in on their franchisees. This place gives them all a bad name. There are a few bright spots: the beds are comfortable and the water pressure is good. The refrigerator works. Thank God the A/C filter was recently changed. Unfortunately: the ice maker is still broken (it's been this way for at least 4-5 years). The hotel, including hallway and room has a musty, dirty, mildew smell that's impossible to get rid of. Bring your own Lysol to spray things down! The rooms are in desperate need of updating and maintenance. Our tub was cracked and I always thought there was a spider in there, but it was just the crack. Wonder how much water has seeped through, causing mold under there. The toilet paper holder is very broken. The pillows are about half the size of an actual pillow and lumpy. Housekeeping consists of straightening the blankets and replacing towels, of which they are very skimpy. You always need to ask for a couple more. Bed linens were not changed at all during my multi-night stay. The carpet is stained and smelly. The rooms are NOT vacuumed with any regularity. I never saw or heard a vacuum during my multi-night stay. They need replacing, but at least a shampoo and vacuum would help. The bathroom floor is disgusting with dirt and grime caked along the walls. The floors were filthy when I arrived and not cleaned at all during my stay. Don't get me started on the toilet. The sink counter was not touched during my stay. They provide a tiny bar of soap but no soap dish so it gets all soggy sitting on the counter. They don't replace it during housekeeping, so you'll need to ask for more. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired and get there before 9 a.m. because everything is put away including access to coffee. They have the wonderful waffle maker but the fake "butter spread" and cheap syrup are disappointing. Two flavors of Activia yogurt and 2 types of stale cereal. They turn off window needs cleaning and resealing. It's difficult to look outside because it is so dirty. They turn off keycard access very early in the morning and you have to have your key reset to get back into the room well before checkout time at 11 a.m. Cameras watch your every move in the halls, lobby, and outside. The owner and family live in the hotel.

The Wyndham name usually signifies a certain quality - this hotel should be visited by Wyndham because it is an embarrassment to the brand. The ice machine has been broken for at least 2 months.

Our two day stay at Murphin Ridge Inn was wonderful! We stayed in the Amish House for our…read moreanniversary in Room 22. When we checked in we found out we were the only ones staying in the house! What an amazing surprise! We actually had access to the entire house if we wanted, but we still stuck with our original room. Room 22 has a huge jacuzzi tub and huge 2 person shower! I was surprised at how cold the air was when we arrived (just how we like it!) Usually I sleep with a fan at night at home and was worried, but it was so cool and the room was so comfortable (and clean!) that husband and I slept like a baby. We ate two dinners and two breakfast at the Murphin Ridge Restaurant. The food was always amazing and so fresh! The weather ended up being gorgeous and we were able to eat all meals outside in their beautiful patio area. The first night we had the sirloin stake that was AMAZING! It was cool watching the chef grill out right on the patio! I didn't even need steak sauce (which says a lot coming from me, because I typically put condiments on everything!) The second night it was pizza night and they made us a pizza in their brick oven that was also on the patio! It was neat seeing our food being made both nights. Staff was absolutely wonderful, polite, and very knowledgeable. The staff did little things that made our stay special. For example, Majorie knew it was our anniversary and she reserved our table we fell in love with for our second dinner. And she remembered how I liked to make my ice tea and make sure I had extra Splenda without asking. It's truly the little things that make all the difference! We hope to come back every year! Some tips for first time people (staying in the Amish House): 1. There is WiFi! We are big tv watchers. There is actually a tv that has USB ports in the common area. I would suggest bringing your google chrome/Apple TV or whatever you use so you can stream from your tv to phone if you prefer! 2. There is a fridge that can be shared. We did not know this and brought a cooler with ice. Not needed. There is actually a full kitchen if you want to make a meal. There is also a coffee pot! 3. There is a golf cart that you can borrow (maybe rent? May be free?) But you can use that to get to and from the main area which is a little over a mile away. 4. The pool is open 24 hours! Great for a night time swim (which is a mile away and is 4 ft deep). 5. There are a handful of board games at the Amish house, but I suggest to bring your own. So many great spaces to play them (inside or outside!) 6. Finally, bring s'mores! There is a great fire pit right out back of the Amish House!

There are several easy hiking trails on the property that are well-maintained and offer beautiful views. The food in the restaurant was very good as well. Finally, I can't say enough good about the staff of the inn. Every single employee we encountered, from waitstaff to registration desk managers to housekeeping staff, were exceedingly friendly and professional.

The cabins are quiet and cozy but I prefer the rooms on the first floor of the lodge where the windows face the sunrise each morning. Each room has Amish style furnishings and is always clean and comfortable. Dinner at the inn is a great experience. They specialize in beef, pork, chicken and seafood while also having wonderfully prepared vegetables. I've never left a vegetable on my plate. Soups and desserts are on a heavenly level. Tonight's chocolate cheesecake was to die for! Their wine and cocktail list is also excellent with very good wine prices. Breakfast each morning is a taste of farm goodness. House made sausage, a variety of egg dishes, and/or pancakes are a welcome start to each day. This weekend we stayed mostly in the room due to the pandemic but there are sights to see in the area. Miller's Furniture and bakery has excellent sandwiches for a picnic lunch and lots of beautiful Amish furniture. There are hiking trails on the property and many more in the area. Check out the Edge of Appalachia Preserve System which has several trails a short drive from the inn. West Union is also a cute town with an old fashioned soda shop at Blake Pharmacy. It's a getaway, a great escape, and a reminder of the good things in life.

Great hotel option for those looking for comfort and excellent service; Holiday Inn Express is well…read moreworth it! Came here with my friend and her mother for a single night stay as part of a friend's wedding. I was surprised to see a Holiday Inn in this area since it isn't particularly populated, though I certainly appreciated it being here! The rooms are clean and well-appointed, and any amenity you might need is either already in the room or available at the front counter. I somehow managed to forget to bring an iPhone charger (arguably the most important thing you should bring on any trip) so I went up front to see if they had one on offer and, sure enough, they offered me one right away. I half-expected them to ask for my driver's license or at least room number before entrusting it to me, though they were super casual about it : "It's fine, you can bring it back whenever you're done with it!" Wow, that's a breath of fresh air! The complimentary breakfast here was very nice and had a variety of warm options (not just cold cereal or basic oatmeal like many hotels try to pass off as a meal), and I dutifully returned the charger to the front desk prior to departure, with them accepting it back as casually as they had issued it. Maybe that's more about the nature of people who live around here, though I appreciated it just the same! While I didn't use the pool on this occasion, it did look very appealing, as did the landscaping around the hotel. I was very pleased with my short visit here and would gladly do it again if offered the chance! Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Excellent rooms with everything you'll need to keep you comfortable. - Clean rooms, common areas, and parking lot. - Pleasant (and trusting) staff. - Great continental breakfast, actually worthy of that title. Cons: - None. You pay more for Holiday Inn than you would elsewhere and for good reason: they provide great value and ensure you're well-rested and in a good mood for whatever rigors tomorrow holds for you!

I have stayed in many really good and even great hotels throughout my time as a comedian and I must…read moresay that the Hampton Inn Washington Courthouse in Jeffersonville, OH is my all time favorite. Firstly, this is the best and friendliest staff I have ever known. The GM is hilarious and made time to make sure everything was right in my room and even brought me goodies to snack on even though I couldn't- I'm on keto, but they were very tempting snacks. Ok, so let me tell you about the room. Girl, the room had the most perfect bed I have ever slept on. If I could have figured out a way to smuggle this bed out I would have. I'm kinda like the Goldilocks of hotel beds and this one was just right. So right in fact that when I went to lay down for just 5 min before unpacking my gear it sucked me in and I slept for 2 hours ! That never happens! The tv was actually larger than my 50 inch at home and had great channels. This one hotel has messed up my entire theory of hotel cable. Maybe it's an anomaly, but in all the years I have been traveling for my career the equation has been the better the hotel is the shittier the cable. Well thanks for proving me wrong this time, Hampton Inn! The room itself was excellent. They gave me a handicap accessible room on the first floor and it was the first room when one walks in- as all handicapped rooms should be. Why most hotels put them so far down the hallways I'll never know. This one did it right. Getting a late checkout wasn't an issue, either. In fact they offered it to me. The best part of my stay had to be the giant picture of cows behind the front desk welcoming me into the hotel. Yes, cowss. I love cows and the cow picture just made me smile as I avoided the fresh, hot cookies. Corporate, leave that cow pic alone! Thank you so much, Hampton Inn! I will stay here next time I'm anywhere close.
