A heavenly getaway! My wife and I have been here about a dozen times over the years and we always look forward to returning. The cabins are quiet and cozy but I prefer the rooms on the first floor of the lodge where the windows face the sunrise each morning. Each room has Amish style furnishings and is always clean and comfortable. Dinner at the inn is a great experience. They specialize in beef, pork, chicken and seafood while also having wonderfully prepared vegetables. I've never left a vegetable on my plate. Soups and desserts are on a heavenly level. Tonight's chocolate cheesecake was to die for! Their wine and cocktail list is also excellent with very good wine prices. Breakfast each morning is a taste of farm goodness. House made sausage, a variety of egg dishes, and/or pancakes are a welcome start to each day. This weekend we stayed mostly in the room due to the pandemic but there are sights to see in the area. Miller's Furniture and bakery has excellent sandwiches for a picnic lunch and lots of beautiful Amish furniture. There are hiking trails on the property and many more in the area. Check out the Edge of Appalachia Preserve System which has several trails a short drive from the inn. West Union is also a cute town with an old fashioned soda shop at Blake Pharmacy. It's a getaway, a great escape, and a reminder of the good things in life. read more

As a birthday weekend celebration, I surprised my gf with a week end get away to Murphin Ridge. I have been here before, about eight years ago to attend a friends Christmas party and have limited but fond memories about it. Limited because it was only for one night. Fond because the breakfast was good, although I'm sure I blocked out some of the memories because I was with my future ex wife. Anyway, we rented a cabin that was tricked out with a jacuzzi and fireplace- super clean. The only problem is that the cabins name was "the Donald". The funny part is that it was the last cabin available online. In my head I imagined it had a picture of the "crazy in chief" over the bed. When I joked with the check in lady about that during the registration, she got a little "spicy" with me about it. She mentioned something about not being wild about Obama. It was pretty obvious I was sleeping in Make America Greatland. The accommodations are great, food fantastic and would have gotten 5 stars, however the registration chick and I have been giving each other the stink eye for most of the weekend. I'm probably being too sensitive, however that didn't stop me from wearing my Little Prince T shirt and ordering "freedom fries" for breakfast. They served quiche for breakfast, so I feel like they met me halfway there. read more

Located just over an hour east of Cincinnati, Murphin Ridge Inn will totally recharge your mind and body. Our visit started late in January on a Friday evening and went until Sunday afternoon. From the moment we arrived nothing less than smiles and the phrase " Is there anyting else I can do for you?" seemed to be the mantra of the Murphin Ridge staff. Talk about magnificant meals, you will not find anything better ! We stayed in one of the cabins and my wife very much enjoyed the whirlpool. Our two day stay at Murphin Ridge Inn was wonderful! We stayed in the Amish House for our anniversary in Room 22. When we checked in we found out we were the only ones staying in the house! What an amazing surprise! We actually had access to the entire house if we wanted, but we still stuck with our original room. Room 22 has a huge jacuzzi tub and huge 2 person shower! I was surprised at how cold the air was when we arrived (just how we like it!) Usually I sleep with a fan at night at home and was worried, but it was so cool and the room was so comfortable (and clean!) that husband and I slept like a baby. We ate two dinners and two breakfast at the Murphin Ridge Restaurant. The food was always amazing and so fresh! The weather ended up being gorgeous and we were able to eat all meals outside in their beautiful patio area. The first night we had the sirloin stake that was AMAZING! It was cool watching the chef grill out right on the patio! I didn't even need steak sauce (which says a lot coming from me, because I typically put condiments on everything!) The second night it was pizza night and they made us a pizza in their brick oven that was also on the patio! It was neat seeing our food being made both nights. Staff was absolutely wonderful, polite, and very knowledgeable. The staff did little things that made our stay special. For example, Majorie knew it was our anniversary and she reserved our table we fell in love with for our second dinner. And she remembered how I liked to make my ice tea and make sure I had extra Splenda without asking. It's truly the little things that make all the difference! We hope to come back every year! Some tips for first time people (staying in the Amish House): 1. There is WiFi! We are big tv watchers. There is actually a tv that has USB ports in the common area. I would suggest bringing your google chrome/Apple TV or whatever you use so you can stream from your tv to phone if you prefer! 2. There is a fridge that can be shared. We did not know this and brought a cooler with ice. Not needed. There is actually a full kitchen if you want to make a meal. There is also a coffee pot! 3. There is a golf cart that you can borrow (maybe rent? May be free?) But you can use that to get to and from the main area which is a little over a mile away. 4. The pool is open 24 hours! Great for a night time swim (which is a mile away and is 4 ft deep). 5. There are a handful of board games at the Amish house, but I suggest to bring your own. So many great spaces to play them (inside or outside!) 6. Finally, bring s'mores! There is a great fire pit right out back of the Amish House! read more

So, let's begin with the Restaurant: The interesting offerings of food at the restaurant has always kept us eager to check out what they'll have next season. We visit about once a year to celebrate our marriage and will eat in the restaurant when we stay. This past year they offered a special summer-barbecue. Murphin Ridge has new owners since we last visited, with this new option I was a little hesitant. The owner said "you don't like it, you don't have to pay." Well, we bit. BBQ was great. Pie for dessert was great. Breakfast has never been the same offerings twice. Always get the "sunrise" for your juice. I have two small points of improvement: the bread is usually a little stale in my taste. It's local, and from a great bakery, but I think it could be a little fresher. Second: the coffee. They need to change roasters IMO. There are so many great roasters in the Cincinnati area now that it's a shame the roast isn't amazing. Lodging: We have stayed in both a wooded cabin and what I believe is called a 'king cabin.' I would suggest staying in one of these for a quiet time of rest. The amenities are all thought of: cookies in the afternoon, small fridge and ice bin, a coffee maker (though, as you can tell from my restaurant review, there's some improvement in the coffee area, if you ask me. David Chapdelaine, coffee-snob.) Staying in the cabins basically left us solitary for the weekend so we could rest in quiet, read, enjoy a kid-less vacation weekend. There are walking trails, and if you're in the cabins, you can take advantage of these very easily. Also, there are opportunities for antiquing around, but he options are not super affordable. It is fun to look around at old stuff sometimes, though! Also, plenty of access to Amish-owned businesses nearby. Just ask the front desk or your server: they're super helpful. Pool, yep. Never used it, but looks nice. Shuffleboard, yep. I'll take you out! You need a vacation. And you really don't want to drive super far, do you? Head on out to Murphin Ridge, Cincinnati. read more

We booked one of the cabins for a long weekend and were very pleased with it--spacious yet intimate. I liked that it allowed us to "unplug" for the weekend (no wifi in the cabins and no TVs--but both are available in the main guest house common room if you must have them) and offered plenty of opportunities to relax and recharge. The jetted tub with 2-sided fireplace was a favorite as were the walking trails on the property. Breakfast the first morning wasn't as special as I would have hoped (scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage), but I loved it on our second morning--the Foggy Bottom pancakes are the absolute best. We also ate dinner in the restaurant there for two nights and were delighted with almost everything--it's pricey, but you get a lot for the money (multiple courses and very high quality). We saw some of the local sights: hiking at Davis Memorial Nature Preserve, a visit to Miller's Amish shops and Serpent Mound. It was perfect for a long weekend escape! read more

Love this B&B! This was our second get away at Murphin Ridge and we are already booked for another trip in the fall. The grounds are beautiful, the food is locally sourced (much from murphin's own garden) and a nice mix of gourmet and comfort food. Paula and Jerry (owners) are extremely personable and the staff are all about making things to order. It was refreshing to see a large number of the staff are the same as our last trip more than a year ago. I think that says a lot about a place, especially when they are top notch, like Josh (chef), Levi and Kara (wait staff and so much more)... All of whom drive 40+ minutes to get to work from their homes in the Cincinati area. We love the cabins!!! And have never stayed in the guest house, but I'm sure it is wonderful too. read more

Murphin Ridge is a relaxing inn that is both romantic and gives city dwellers the experience of country life. It is a close "get away" from Columbus and Cincinnati.
