I was a 28-year-old married woman sitting in a doctor's office, not a 12-year-old who needed to be lectured about how pregnancy happens. The comment was completely unnecessary, inappropriate, and incredibly condescending. What happened afterward was even more disturbing. I had no reason at the age of 28 to be seeing a high-risk specialist, yet she began having me see another physician she referred me to. Between the two practices, I was being seen frequently and having repeated ultrasounds. Despite all of that monitoring, neither physician identified my cervical insufficiency. I ultimately lost my daughter at 20 weeks. That is something I will never forgive them for. When you put your trust in medical professionals during a pregnancy, you expect them to take your care seriously, listen to you, recognize warning signs, and provide competent medical care. Instead, I was left with the devastating realization that a condition that should have been considered and evaluated was missed despite frequent appointments and ultrasounds. I cannot speak to anyone else's experience, but I can speak to mine: I left this experience feeling that my care was treated more like a business transaction than the care of an actual human being and her baby. I would never recommend this doctor based on what happened to me. Losing my daughter is something I will carry for the rest of my life, and I will never forget the doctors who were responsible for overseeing that pregnancy. Also, she looks nothing like her photo. I went in thinking I was picking a middle aged Muslim woman who would be able to offer me the best of care, but boy, was I wrong ! They also love having multiple people in the room with you. I didn't end up getting the procedure that day because the location made me so wary (Which I am so grateful for, because when you look up the Brooklyn location's yelp, and the yelp for the actual name of that clinic - Brooklyn Abortion Clinic- it has all 1 star reviews). Even worse, I ended up going to another doctor for a second opinion, who told me that I didn't even need to get that procedure done. And then, almost 2 months later, I received an incorrect bill with copays I already paid, along with charges for the 2 minute phone calls I had for my results. When I asked their billing department why they charge for result calls and don't inform patients, she said "Well if its abnormal results and the doctor takes the time out of their day to talk to you, then yeah, its a charge." So if you're sick, they charge you for it without even telling you. It feels like this office is just trying to get extra money from vulnerable women who have no choice but to pay.
