Let's go back in time to around 2016 when my wife informed me she was pregnant! Ok cool! Now we were relatively new to Staten Island and so she needed to find a new obgyn. So I was like ok cool. Then she comes home and is like a found a great obgyn and he's supposed to be one of the best. At first I was all like come on go find a woman obgyn there's plenty of them but she can be a tough woman and this was important so I was like ok.... Then I met Dr Benson and instantly fell in love with him (platonically speaking) he is the most patient, friendly, reassuring, knowledgeable and professional doctor I've ever met. He dealt with both my wife and myself and we can both be a lot to deal with but he handled everything like a pro. For me, it was like hanging out with a big cousin who I enjoyed spending time with but also felt like nothing bad could happen when they are around. 9 months later my kid was born , everything was perfect , and I didn't even feel 1 ounce of pain...(lol) Fast forward a few years down the road , and we decided to have another offspring , I legit said call the doctors office and make sure Dr Benson is still working there. Not to say I wouldn't have had another kid if he wasn't but it definitely helped me to know Dr Benson was still around and would go through the process with us again. I legit felt like nothing could go wrong with him being there and if by some odd occurrence something would have he would have handled it. We also had to do one appointment with the two other physicians at the office who were also extremely nice and I think we might have done a couple more appointments with them but not too sure but overall they were very pleasant as well. The desk staff was cool. I was respectful to them and they were respectful back. Never had an issue and all encounters were cordial and pleasant. Parking is easy, never had a problem. Maybe if it's busy you have to go all the way to the back of the parking lot but I always got a spot. There's a small cafe that sells sandwiches and coffees which is pretty good and convenient and it's on the first floor left side of the building.

I had blood tests done which took weeks to have them read and a second time to see if my cholesterol went down so she can then proceed with HRT. This once again took another 3 weeks to tell me it did. I didn't even speak to her an assistant called. So here I am months later trying to get Dr. Giovinazzo to respond to my numerous calls to follow up with HRT. Any woman who is going through menopause knows it's hell clearly this Dr. does not care about her patients , why take new patients if you have no time? Stay clear of her she is unsympathetic and to busy for her patients.

I recently had a issue with a cancelation of my appointment after waiting for 5 months. When I got upset about them wanting me to wait until August for another appointment, I received a call from the office manager. Although she did try to accommodate me, all she did was belittle me and try to make me feel subhuman. To add insult to injury, today, I received a letter from his office stating that I was "inappropriate" with his office staff. I asked the doctor to call me to discuss his manager's attitude toward me, before he sent the letter. I still have not heard from him. Do not waste your time with this guy. It's not worth your time and aggravation to deal with people who treat you like crap.

At first I did not have a great impression of this place since I called around 10 times over a course of a few days to talk to someone to make an appointment. I kept getting the same response which was to call them at a later time since they are super busy. I even emailed them and they never responded. Despite how hard it was to communicate with them I have to say that the experience I had with them made me forget about how bad I thought it was in the first place. As someone that is very nervous about every doctor visit, I was extremely impressed by how comfortable I felt throughout the whole process. Nurse Amanda Nelson answered all of my questions and walked me through the whole process. Even the staff members at the front desk and the lady that took down all my health information and blood test was super friendly and welcoming. After this visit, I called majority of my friends and told them that this is the place they should go to to get their annual checkup. I will not be going anywhere else!

Let me tell you, this doctor not only has disgusting bedside manners, but my experience with her…read moreand another physician she referred me to was an absolute nightmare. Back in 2024, I was 28 years old, married, and pregnant with my first child. During my appointment, she asked whether the pregnancy was planned. I told her, "We weren't planning or preventing it." Her response was: "Well, that's what happens when you have unprotected sex." Excuse me? I was a 28-year-old married woman sitting in a doctor's office, not a 12-year-old who needed to be lectured about how pregnancy happens. The comment was completely unnecessary, inappropriate, and incredibly condescending. What happened afterward was even more disturbing. I had no reason at the age of 28 to be seeing a high-risk specialist, yet she began having me see another physician she referred me to. Between the two practices, I was being seen frequently and having repeated ultrasounds. Despite all of that monitoring, neither physician identified my cervical insufficiency. I ultimately lost my daughter at 20 weeks. That is something I will never forgive them for. When you put your trust in medical professionals during a pregnancy, you expect them to take your care seriously, listen to you, recognize warning signs, and provide competent medical care. Instead, I was left with the devastating realization that a condition that should have been considered and evaluated was missed despite frequent appointments and ultrasounds. I cannot speak to anyone else's experience, but I can speak to mine: I left this experience feeling that my care was treated more like a business transaction than the care of an actual human being and her baby. I would never recommend this doctor based on what happened to me. Losing my daughter is something I will carry for the rest of my life, and I will never forget the doctors who were responsible for overseeing that pregnancy. Also, she looks nothing like her photo. I went in thinking I was picking a middle aged Muslim woman who would be able to offer me the best of care, but boy, was I wrong ! They also love having multiple people in the room with you. I don't recall being asked if I was okay with being put on display in front of these students every time. So humiliating.

They made great recommendations for me when we passed 40 weeks, then 41 weeks, with still no sign of the baby coming. During labor, which was surprising and fast, Jo stayed calm and grounded as she unwrapped the cord around the baby's neck and gave her immediate care she needed to take her first breaths. It might have been a terrifying situation for others, but Jo handled it with unreal expertise. I also had a difficult first few weeks postpartum, and I was deeply held and supported by both Jo and Jenna. I am so grateful that I chose Nettle. I truly believe that my birth experience would have been much worse had I worked with any provider besides Nettle.

We are forever grateful for Jo and Jenna's thoughtful and enthusiastic care and support. Every visit, phone call, text, etc was always particular and intimate to our own story while being backed by informed, professional advice and conversation. From billing support to postpartum visits in their new gorgeous office, Nettle made this process easy in a medical landscape that can often be so opaque and overwhelming. As a sporadic doula, I'm lucky enough to have been present at several births and they offer a level of care that I didn't know existed. We were fortunate to have an incredible home birth in our barely one bedroom apartment and throughout felt supported but empowered, nurtured but independent. From the first meeting we knew it was the only way, and they were there for us every step. Both pre and post natal care (not to mention labor and birth support) were approached with attentiveness, warmth, and joyful tenderness. I've carried their philosophy with me into parenthood and find myself asking WW(Jo/Jenna)D for decisions beyond the health of our baby girl and myself. Their sage advice and general outlook on all things birthing and beyond offer a lovely bedrock for this new phase. Briefly, we cannot recommend them highly enough. We love you Jo and Jenna and the whole Nettle crew!

Conditions were not explained well to me because the doctors were in such a rush to get me out of the office. They also sent me for a procedure in Brooklyn to a sketchy clinic, where it wasn't even clear if the doctors taking care of me on Staten Island were there. I didn't end up getting the procedure that day because the location made me so wary (Which I am so grateful for, because when you look up the Brooklyn location's yelp, and the yelp for the actual name of that clinic - Brooklyn Abortion Clinic- it has all 1 star reviews). Even worse, I ended up going to another doctor for a second opinion, who told me that I didn't even need to get that procedure done. And then, almost 2 months later, I received an incorrect bill with copays I already paid, along with charges for the 2 minute phone calls I had for my results. When I asked their billing department why they charge for result calls and don't inform patients, she said "Well if its abnormal results and the doctor takes the time out of their day to talk to you, then yeah, its a charge." So if you're sick, they charge you for it without even telling you. It feels like this office is just trying to get extra money from vulnerable women who have no choice but to pay.
