I found my Italian caterer! The staff, chefs and cooks at Romano Cucina are exceptional. From the moment I ordered to pick up, I was impressed by their attention to detail, kindness and superb service. Wow! And THE FOOD! My party was a hit because of them! All my guests kept complementing the food and everyone went back for seconds! I'm so glad I found them and will be hitting them up to cater many more parties moving forward!

One of my favorite local spots for italian. Cozy vibes. Delicious food. Good cocktails. Fair prices. Haven't been here in a while but went last night and food tastes as good as i can remember. Pasta your way is a big portion with a meatball and sausage - always get the ricotta cheese. So delicious! Love how you get a salad with your meal as well. Will be back soon!!

I've finally found my favorite local Italian restaurant! After months of being on the hunt for delicious and affordable Italian food, I finally discovered Romana Cucina, an adorable restaurant in Sunset Beach. We visited on a weekday night for dinner and it was packed with locals. We were greeted by a friendly server who let us know that they offer half priced martinis on Thursdays! We happily ordered an espresso martini while we waited for a table. After being seated, we were served complimentary bread and olive oil. For food, we ordered the pasta Tombrello, which came with a spicy and flavorful bianco sauce. It paired nicely with the tender ground beef and Al dente pasta. We also tried the aglio olio pasta, which was light and flavorful. We also enjoyed the complimentary side salads that came with our entrees. It was perfectly tossed in a delicious olive oil and served with cheese on top. There's absolutely nothing I don't like about this restaurant. I can't wait to come back!

Romano Cucina is located by the Sunset Beach. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Their outdoor seating area has heat lamps to keep you warm. The service was great. Their Rosa pasta sauce is delicious!! One of my new favorites. It's a nice creamy tomato sauce. You can choose your protein and pasta. They have different appetizers, salads, pasta, pizza, lasagna, and even sandwiches. They have a wide variety of different drinks as well. The perfect little dinner spot after a day at the beach.

After our visit, we wanted to pick a nice place to eat dinner, and because my kiddo said she wanted pesto, I went to faithful Yelp to look for a new Italian spot to check out. I will admit that I was a bit hesitant to try Buon Gusto out at first, not being from or too familiar with the area, and then there was the wait, but I am so glad we held our spot in line for a table. We were sat in the line of view of those who are waiting to be seated. I thought this would make me uncomfortable at first, but I hardly noticed them. Our server John was super friendly and attentive, very personable. One of the owners that we talked to also was social with us when I asked him about his restaurant and the influence for the menu items. I did not get his name, but he let me know he has Greek and Italian roots, which makes sense seeing that there are a lot of Greek/Mediterranean items on the menu as well. I believe he said his Italian ancestry is from Sicily, which was nostalgic for me because Sicily was one of my favorite weekend trips back when I spent a summer in Italy. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Penne Marco Polo which came with a delicious cream sauce and served with shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms and artichokes mixed in. It was one of the best pastas I have ever had! My mom ordered the chicken piccata - it was good, but she did have a complaint. Her plate arrived drowned in the wine sauce. I do not think it was supposed to be that wet. My daughter ordered the kids fettuccini, and our server was able to modify it so that it would come with pesto instead of the alfredo or pomodoro sauce. My mom and I each enjoyed a glass of the sauvignon blanc with our meal; thank you for the wine rec, John! I would definitely return if meeting friends in the area.

Every server is a dream, tonight John served us and went above and beyond with service. Bread came out, (delicious and full of garlic) but our little ones aren't huge on garlic. We sat down and were greeted with a plate of inviting warm bread that was so warm and soft paired with choice of 2 dipping sauces, a marinara and another green pesto-like I don't know but had a nice flavor. We ordered glasses of Riesling and Muscato but the latter was much sweeter which I preferred to the more dry Riesling. Service and food was great. The fusili Quattro formagi, or Italian sausage in a cream four cheese light sauce with pasta was better, as the short rib had a saltier flavor. We started with a Caesar salad and he got the spinach, with their house made dressing that was so very good. Very filling we had to take home. Dessert we got their creme brûlée which was perfect. This Italian restaurant was a great find. The decor simple but perfect for this coastal restaurant. It's all shades of blue and white and aqua, with photos of coastal Italy. There is a bar with some wine and beer, but I'm not sure if I noticed any other alcohol. A great special that they have on tuesdays, wednesdays, and Thursdays. For $50 for a couple, you get your choice of appetizer, two entrees, and gelato for dessert. For appetizer, there were two choices: mixed salad or fried zucchini and mozzarella with spicy tomato sauce. We chose the mixed salad, and it was perfectly dressed and very good. There were several options for entrees. I choose the caccio e pepe, and hubby choose Salmon Piccata with potatoes and vegetables. Both were delicious! We finished the meal with two scoops each of gelato. There were several flavors to choose from, but we are a little boring--I got chocolate and strawberry, hubby got chocolate and vanilla. I think our server may have been the daughter of the chef, as I heard them talking and laughing together in Italian. She was great, attentive and very sweet. I am sure we will be back. No need to dress up, it's Huntington Beach a City still trying to find it's goofy footing. The decor reminds me of Rudy's in Fort Lee, New Jersey where home made food is made for made men. Retired worn down muscle hold's court in the worn down Bar. The real boss, however, was the Server who ran the joint from the dining room accessible only through a secret door. The point being that both Capone's and Rudy's have an O. G. feel (although Rudy's is the real deal). Louie Prima croons and scats at Capone's over the clatter of plates and and chatter of dates. Here, there are no secrets. Open Bar, open Kitchen, and Staff with open arms. The Bar: Full to the top. Pop a top or enjoy Martini Thursday (any day). The Staff: Characters with class. Enthusiastic, everyone was on board, and no one was bored. Nicole spent more time looking after me than my sainted Mum. Don't see it on the menu? Ask Nicole. "We can definitely do that, 100%", she'll respond. The entire team were in motion like a human Pachinko Machine. How refreshing to have a squadron of well trained Staff who actually enjoy what they're doing while they're doing it. Who goes there? Locals, SoCals, happy diners and no whiners as the food is worth getting up off the couch for. Me? I felt like I had discovered this place which ultimately was much more meaningful than anything Columbus stumbled across. Capone's offers a huge ambitious menu with all the classics and some modern riffs all through an Italian lens. Ain't nuthin' here you won't like plus the next day you'll enjoy what you couldn't finish even though you wanted too. The Foccacia was fresh baked and still warm. Nicole supplied a healthy pour of quality Olive Oil and a serious splash of rich Aged Balsamic Vinegar to dunk, dip, mop and sop. I watched the next table order the Garlic Bread served with Bagna Cauda (an excellent Olive Tapenade). This also included Garlic Confit which were still hot from roasting and yet remained squishy and caramelized. I had to have it while the table on the other side of me told Nicole, "We want what he's having". The food here made me happy and happy to think about returning soon so I can work my way through the entire heroic menu. "How bout the Special?" asked Nicole. These were Fried Artichoke Hearts the size of Double Cut Pork Chops. The carefully trimmed Artichoke Hearts were deep fried. The breading was crunchy and clung to the huge Artichokes like a rented Tuxedo. A creamy Garlic Sauce was more than welcome and almost not necessary as the Artichokes were pleasantly artichokey on their own. They reminded me of Piperno's hidden in the Jewish Quarter of Rome. But that's another review. Next out was a a bath tub of Frutti di Mar. On the menu it read like a pile of Pasta with a whole lotta shellfish over it. Shrimp, Squid Tubes, Manila Clams, Mussels all buried under a slightly spicy Marinara Sauce. But, be advised it presents like Cioppino. It was definitely a Soup ladled over Linguini lurking beneath the surface. "Nicole, this is Cioppino" I said. "No Honey, our Cioppino comes with a raft of Garlic Bread pieces". Okay. I like Soup. The Linguini was perfectly cooked and still screaming hot when the bowl hit the table. The Shellfish was plentiful and tender. No rubbery anything. This was hardy and substantial (but it was Cioppino, damnit, it was). Something you want on a cold blustery Winter's night. Well, it's Winter in South America and Australia so I simply dug in with gusto and a Soup Spoon. The Tomatoey broth was delicious. The Eggplant Parmesan was the size of a Catcher's Mitt and topped with a comforter of melted Mozzarel and a thick Marinara Sauce all over a mound of Spaghetti and then surrounded by a row of Meat Balls mainly because Nicole said, "I included some Meat Balls. You're gonna love'em". Nicole, girl, you got soul. Al Capone's safe had nothin' but Capone's Italian Cucina has got it all. Don't make me send Luca Brasi to have a sit down wit yas. Just go there now, do what you're told and order up. This is not just business, it's personal.

The place was packed and we waited about 20 minutes for a table of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids). As the waitress took our order, she proceeded to ask each one of us soup/salad whether it came with our dish or not. Pay attention otherwise you may unknowingly be ordering a soup/salad thinking it is included with your meal to later find out it is not. The garlic bread which is complimentary was delicious and the calamari appetizer we ordered was good, better than most places, but those were unfortunately the highlights of the dinner for me personally. My brother-in-law had to send back his silverware and appetizer plate that was set out for him were really dirty. Mine were questionable but I just went with it. I ordered the Linguine Frutti Di Mare at the recommendation of the waitress. Once it arrived it had an extremely watery sauce and looked more like a Cioppino (seafood stew} then any type of pasta entree dish with a sauce. The flavors were okay at best, but I was shocked at how watery the sauce was. I even asked the waitress if it was supposed to be so watery to which she had no response. I don't know if they are watering down all the sauces to stretch ingredients or if they don't drain the water from the pasta before they mix them - either way it was way too watery. My 5-year-old son had spaghetti with marinara sauce that was extremely watery as well and he refused to eat it after a couple of bites. My son always eats spaghetti with red sauce everywhere we go so we were shocked to see that he wasn't going to. We asked the waitress if we could get something else since he didn't like it to which she stated she would have to check with management. She came back and said unfortunately we could not nor would they remove it from the bill, but she did say she could get us some Alfredo sauce that we could mix in to the spaghetti and red sauce pasta. My 8-year-old ordered Fettuccini Alfredo which had good flavors but was extremely watery as well. It was more of a scampi sauce (water/butter sauce} then anything remotely close to a creamy alfredo sauce. My wife and brother-in-law who also ordered pasta dishes agreed their sauces were extremely watery as well. Lastly, when the bill came, we were shocked to see a $6 fee for tiny little dish of Alfredo Sauce that the waitress went out of her way and offered to bring my 5-year-old son so he would eat his dish. She should have at least let us know there was a charge for it if it wasn't going to be free. I do not plan on going back and would much rather eat at Renato's in Westminster.
