Would give less than 1 star if I could. Came into town for a long weekend. Ordered 45 min ahead to pick up a Pizza on our way to our rental. The first time I called, I was asked to hold and then as I began to order was hung up on. I called back and was asked to hold again, even after explaining I had already been hung up on. After holding again I placed my order. I showed up at the given time only to be told "we can't find your ticket". Moral of the story, there are far better pizza options within a 10 minute drive that deserve your business rather than Roma's. Check out Patellie's or Dog Friendly Villa Nova. Villa Nova even got us in to dine after a power outage - and should win your business based on looks/environment alone. read more

My fiancé and I are visiting from out of town and decided to try this place for dinner one night! We called to place a delivery at 9:40pm and we're placed on hold for 7 minutes, at which point we were rudely told that they are not taking any more orders. We were placed "on hold", to which we heard multiple orders being taken over the phone! Before even being asked what we'd like to order, I was told that they were out of dough and cheese and were closing for the night. Surely enough, we did not want pizza and were rudely hung up on. We came to this small but comfortable pizza parlor after a day of touring southwest Michigan. It is situated just east of New Buffalo, MI on the corner of US 12 and the Red Arrow Highway. The inside has a nice bar, tables, and booths all named after local towns in the region. It is bigger than it looks from the outside. Service was quick and our waitress knew the menu from top to bottom. They have several beer specials, and there is always one draft beer special for $1 mug of beer all day, every day. After enjoying nice sized salads, we ordered the Works Pizza. It came out piled with mushrooms, onions, Green peppers, sausage, and pepperoni. Our son also had a huge chicken Stromboli and couldn't finish it. It had chicken, tomato sauce, provolone cheese, and onions. There was nothing pretentious about this place. It was just a great local pizza joint...we will be back! read more

My girlfriend and I ate in at Roma pizza in New Buffalo. We ordered a medium size pizza with Italian sausage green pepper and onion. Both of us were very surprised that the pizza was very bland. You could barely taste what little bit of Italian sausage was on the pizza, and there was hardly any green pepper. We were very disappointed as we had gone to Roma pizza during the summer and had a very good pizza with the same ingredients. This time we were shocked that the pizza was so bland and tasteless. More than likely we won't be returning. We would rather pay more for a pizza that was full of Italian sausage and green pepper then to pay less and get something tasteless. Sorry. read more

We stopped by half an hour before closing, which I understand is a challenge for many places. Most of the tables were dirty and had plates on them. We sat for about 15 minutes before anyone came over to talk to us and take our drink orders, and that includes two trips to the bar to remind them that we were there. The pasta looked fantastic, but we were in the mood for pizza so we split a 12" pie. It was absolutely delicious, and the #1 reason why we will probably come back to Roma the next time we're in town. We tried it with ham and pineapple, Hawaiian style, with extra sauce. I wish I would have asked for a side of sauce as well, for the crust of the pizza was thick and fluffy (albeit a bit dry) and I could have treated it like breadsticks. We sat on the patio but found that due to it being in a wooded area and the patio being open for 6 inches near the ground that there were swarms of mosquitoes out there. We retreated inside with our pizza after getting a handful of bites each. I'd like to return to Roma during more normal business hours (and with some bug spray) to hopefully have a better experience with the service. Also, I really want to try their pasta. read more

My visit here today is a prime example of how it's not just the food that creates "the dining experience". Back story: I ate here last Sept. or Oct. and it was NOT GOOD! The air conditioning wasn't working, it took an hour to get my pizza, and when I did get it they had put the wrong ingredients on it! I was told a tale of woe about how all the staff had just quit, the air conditioning had just broken-down and the manager and 2 other employees were doing the best they could. I'm just so soft-hearted that I skipped writing what would have been a bad review. Fast forward to July, 28, 2017... I walk in and sit in the dining room, order a medium pizza with PEPPERONI and MUSHROOMS. My waitress (not SERVER!) brings me a Coke and I wait patiently. The dining room at Roma Pizza Restaurant is one large L-shaped space. Close to the middle is a juke box. A juke box is a cynical way for the owners to make a few extra dollars each month without regard to the atmosphere their customers must suffer. As the juke box blared some hip-hop-rap-crap selected by a 12 year old kid, I really found myself becoming irritated by the noise I had to endure because some little, brat, kids' white-trash parents kept giving him dollars to keep the noise going! The other 15 people in the dining room had to suffer this auditory insult also, but the owners of Roma Pizza Restaurant made a few extra dollars. Rather than having some dinner appropriate background music playing to create a nice environment, the juke box blares away with whatever garbage is invariably played by some kid, the drunkest idiot in the group or the biggest moron in the group who thinks she's SO COOL for choosing the music everyone else must endure. The dining room was HOT! The air conditioning was either not working properly or set to miserly high levels, it felt like it was close to 80 degrees in the restaurant. Also adding to the atmosphere were 2 tables full of low-rent FIP's pretending they were on the French Riviera. Loud, obnoxious, physically un-attractive roobs; and their kids kept feeding the juke box. It's now been over 30 minutes since I ordered my pizza. The waitress apologized and said it should be out soon. At about 55 minutes after I walked in to Roma Pizza Restaurant my pizza arrived. The pepperoni's were UN-COOKED! Pasty, cold and un-appealing they looked like they had been tossed on my pizza as an after-thought, like they forgot to put them on when my pizza was first made and they "fixed" the problem afterwards! I said to the waitress "I've been waiting almost a full hour and the pizza isn't even made right???!" She said "I'm sorry, do you want us to make you ANOTHER PIZZA?" NO, I don't have another hour of my life to waste or the patience to sit here and wait for another pizza in this Greyhound Bus Terminal atmosphere! She took the pizza back to cook it some more. In the meantime some guy came out of the kitchen with a pissed-off look on his face and told me Roma Pizza Restaurant always puts the pepperoni's on AFTER the pizza comes out of the oven, so it doesn't look so greasy... #1-There is still the SAME AMOUNT of grease in an un-cooked pepperoni as there is in a baked one! It's just that UNCOOKED pepperoni grease is COLD, CONGEALED AND STICKS TO YOUR TEETH LIKE MEAT-PASTE! Whereas BAKED pepperoni TASTES GOOD, ALMOST LIKE BACON ! #2- Every pizza joint on the planet cooks their pepperoni's on the pizza- THAT'S NORMAL!!! #3- If your restaurant has some jackass-weird way of preparing a pizza then your waitress should tell the customers this so they have the chance to say "NO, I of course want my pepperoni's COOKED!" I got my pizza back and the pepperoni's were soft, but not cooked, the juke box was blaring away and I was really hot under the collar, because of the poor/to non-existent air-conditioning and the whole messy situation. I ate 2 slices, boxed-up the rest, paid the $21.48 bill and left- wishing I had gone somewhere else. It's more than just the food that makes the dining experience. read more

Really good pizza, well made crust. Any pizzeria that has giardinera on the topping menu is serious. Haven't tried the other Italian dishes, because the pizza is so good. Recommend going with the thinner crust, the regular crust seemed a bit doughy in comparison. But then again, if you're in the mood for a little more crust, go with the "Chicago style", not a deep dish, but a very tasty thicker crust. Couple of beers on draft, full bar. The pizza is the thing, though. Funny thing I noticed, because of their location near the I84 exit, that people will just come in to use the bathroom. Worst service. No communication from server or apology for it being late. Waited 70 minutes and still no pizza so decided to pay for my wine and leave. They didn't want to give me a discount finally agreed to 20% for really stale tasting pizza no one liked. Ugh. I shouldn't have paid..I WISH I'd walked out but my family was hungry. We tossed the bad pizza and went somewhere else. So many extraordinary restaurants in the area are short staffed and communicate with their tables. This place had 2-4 tables and people seated after us left before us. We never received our food until they boxed it up after we were about to walk out. As a waitress I would at least apologize, update the table or have management offer to comp the food. If you have one server make sure she represents the face of your restaurant well -even if she's backed up. Should have listened to our local family about how bad the service and management is- but really wanted to give a local spot a shot. So disappointed. read more

Our order took close to an hour to complete. They weren't that busy. If the food was stellar, I wouldn't mind the wait so much. The food is good, but not great. We got a regular pizza with pepperoni and some of their cheese bread. We had enough for a snack the next morning. Just so everyone knows, this place puts pepperoni on AFTER they cook your pizza, and they don't cook the pepperoni AT ALL. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and when I got home and opened it I realized they didn't cook the pepperoni. Unfortunately they were closed by the time I realized, so i just chalked it up as a mistake and decided to call the next day. The owner tells me that they never cook the pepperoni, that it was NOT a mistake. He then told me that next time " i can request the pepperoni gets cooked." Start off by saying food was okay but the kitchen service was bad. We had a group of 5 for dine in service. The waitress was great but food came out one dish at a time. One had dinner done before one even got a salad and we ended up taking two peoples food to go because everyone else was done eating before they got their food. Sadly giving Roma's of New Buffalo two stars. The only reason I gave them over a one star grade is because the pizza is pretty good. My wife and I went in for a bite to eat on a Friday afternoon, they were not busy and only had one waitress who did a decent job covering her few tables. The first off putting thing is that the ENTIRE STAFF was working in their grubby street clothes, no head coverings, no gloves. Disgusting. I ordered a combo sandwich and she got the fettuccini Alfredo. 45 minutes later we get our food. Hers came with a salad that literally consisted of a pile of hand-torn iceberg lettuce, three croutons, a slice of tomato, and a pepperoncini. Seriously? The Alfredo portion was literally the size of her fist and they charged TWELVE DOLLARS for this! I will NEVER be dining in here again and urge everyone to do the same for your own sanity. read more
