I like this little place. The bread they use for the sandwiches is really good. I got a special A. I do think it would be better to buy the bigger balls of mozzarella though and slice it. The flavor comes out better than in using the ciliegine mozz. Meatballs and marinara sauce were good. Mini cannoli was fine. Really nice owners. I thought about that bread all week and had to return. The chicken parm sandwich is really good. The tiramisu tastes like a nice cream cake but is light on the coffee flavor, fyi. I have also tried the #12 sub, the chicken alfredo, the brownie, the bread, and the salad. Salad is fresh and I love the homemade ranch and balsamic dressings. I came here once not too long ago and have not stopped thinking about it since, so I keep coming back.

This is house special pizza.

When I travel I always try the pizza because I'm Pizza freak. Mario's is a little place on the end of a strip mall Ambiance is cozy. The two people on staff are friendly and accommodating. Now Mario's Pizza.. first the crust. Tough. Sauce was sparing but that's okay because flavor was lacking.. on the positive the amount of toppings was plentiful and the sausage was good. Spoke to some locals they said if you order from Mario's you have to eat it there. If I go back I won't order pizza. It was $20 for a small I think pricey especially because I threw almost all of it away. Extremely disappointed. Here's a photo of what I did not eat.

Great sandwiches and speciality pizza with kind and friendly service! Not a lot of room to dine-in, but can eat outside or take it to go!

Solid carryout option in Union Pier. Big menu, open late. Chicken tenders were great. Pizza was good.

Someone else had the ravioli and they were delicious as well. They had a special that night of a seared Branzino fish with an Olive topping with fresh asparagus that was phenomenal. The table also shared the cheesecake and the tiramisu for dessert. Drink of the night and not to be missed was an Espresso martini!! 10/10 highly recommended

I made a 6:30pm reservation and noted the occasion, and the staff sweetly sat us right by the window with a stunning view of Lake Michigan. I started the night with an Aperol Spritz. While their menu doesn't explicitly label items as gluten-free, I had called ahead and knew they could accommodate me. The appetizer options were a bit limited, so we shared the Brussels to start, followed by the corn and tomato risotto for my main, which was delicious. Our server was relatively new but incredibly attentive, even making sure to double-check with the kitchen that everything was safely GF. They offer multiple gluten-free options for mains and desserts, including GF pasta. We shared the ricotta cheesecake, and our server also brought out a complimentary chocolate mousse with orange slices and a birthday candle. Don't let the unlabeled menu scare you off--the staff is wonderful, the food is great, and you can't beat the lakeside view!

One thing to note; there's only one unisex bathroom on the first floor, which wasn't quite enough for the number of guests that day. There is another restroom upstairs, but it may not be ideal for those with mobility concerns. The wait staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions since it was our first time dining here. The owner also made a point to visit every table, which added a warm, personal touch. The food truly stood out; comforting Italian dishes that reminded us of meals we enjoyed in Italy. Portions were just right, with a great balance of pasta and ingredients. The stuffed eggplant was a highlight; perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The Pizza Bianco was another favorite, generously topped with artichoke hearts. A few minor notes: the calamari was slightly overcooked, and while the Shrimp Scampi with Capellini Aglio Olio was flavorful and well-seasoned, the pasta was a bit on the dry side for my preference. Some of the shrimp were slightly overcooked as well, but it didn't take away from the overall taste as it was still very enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. We'd definitely recommend this spot and look forward to coming back the next time we're in the area.

Went for dinner on 2/13 thinking we would not have the rush for Valentines Day. That plan was good…read more We made a reservation but when we arrived the bar had open seats so we sat there. I ordered the White Fish dish and my wife had Tortellini with vodka sauce with added sausage crumbles. Both dishes were incredible and I'd strongly recommend. Now for the downside and the reason for only rating 4 stars. Prior to dinner we split a Zsa Zsa Salad. The menu describes this as having poached shrimp, asparagus bits, bacon, avocado, tomato with a Balsamic Vinaigrette. For some reason the shrimp decided to leave the plate before we got it. Without the shrimp, the salad was boring and pretty much flavorless. We would have liked it better had they used Romaine rather then the foliage we all used to discard before serving. We asked the Bartender about the missing shrimp and she put in an order for a side of shrimp. The side arrived after we had pretty much finished with the salad. Not complaining because we ate the shrimp as it was the best part. The surprise came when we received the bill which contained the $19.00 charge for the salad as well as a $10.00 charge for the side of shrimp. I pointed that out and it was promptly removed. In summary, I'd suggest a hard pass on this menu item. Not to leave this review on a sour note, we love Cafe Farina and as previously mentioned the entrees were both fantastic. As a side note, we tried their privately labeled Farina Valpolicella Red. Moderately priced and well worth it's $56.00 price. We will order that again.

Flawed reservation policy. They take a credit card to hold the reservation because, god forbid,…read more you have to cancel, they will charge your credit card $20 per person. This is not a joke. If they are that busy it should not be a problem to seat their table. I am sure they have many walkins waiting at the bar. This is just a money grab disguised as something innocuous. So lame
