The restaurant had a cozy feel with cute holiday décor, and although we waited a bit to be seated, the service was worth it--everything arrived exactly as we ordered. The food was delicious across the board, and the biggest surprise was the German pretzel. We were not expecting it to be that huge, and it ended up being one of the highlights. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but for a once-in-a-while dinner, it felt justified. The quality really matched what we paid for. We tried the filet, lobster ravioli, Caesar salad, German pretzel, stuffed mushrooms, and the Diablo pasta, and everything was well-prepared and full of flavor. Amazing food! We had Fiddlehead cater an event and the food was incredible! I personally had the Sausage and Peppers, along with the Chicken Carbonara Pasta, and The Fiddlehead Salad. OMG! So delicious! There was also Chicken Alfredo, Bourbon Glazed Pork Chops, Mostacholi, and Mediterranean and Caprese Salads. The bread was delicious and so was the Peach Cobbler dessert! This is a local favorite. Super wonderful staff and bartenders. The martini list is fantastic- good seasonal drinks. Oh- and how can I forget the food! So many options. They clearly list vegetarian and gluten free options of which there are plenty so its good to go to with a bunch of food-specific friends. They are a detail oriented place- drinks and plates are paid attention to - everything looks especially appetizing. Keep in mind- they do not accept reservations. We had dinner here while on vacation. The servers were incredibly friendly. They had the biggest hot pretzel we have ever seen. The green beans were the best I've ever had! I never get very excited about vegetables but I wished I had just a plate of them. The chicken was also very good. We loved it so much we went back a second night. Very cute place in Michigan City with a pretty varied menu including some vegetarian options as well. The chicken carbonara was a little salty but very good. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! Perfectly cooked shrimp with a spicy sauce covered in coleslaw with tomatoes. The Fiddlehead salad looked delicious as well with lots of toppings. The salads are large enough to share, so come hungry and bring friends! They also have a great selection of house cocktails that are creative and well crafted. For a place with such good press the food was surprisingly bad. My wife's lobster roll had too much mayo, and the mayo was also too strongly flavored, so the lobster was lost. That does happen to bad lobster rolls, but I was even more surprised by what had happened to my lamb skewers. They were covered with an unpleasant, over salted glop; but where I could taste the ground lamb patty underneath, it didn't taste good. I picked out a few tomatoes and cucumbers and otherwise put it aside after a few bites. The service was friendly and the fried pickers were good but I can't imagine going back. read more

Tried to get a table to enjoy a Sunday lunch here. The gentleman told our party of five it would be a five minute wait for a table. We happily waited. After ten minutes of waiting in the lobby, they offered us a menu to browse the items but still no table. Three parties of people had left the building and passed us on the way out, but were assured that our table was being cleaned. After another few minutes, a new party of two walked in and was instantly seated. Seating a smaller party is easier but it's certainly confusing how our table had been in an "almost ready" state when a new party came in and was seated before us. Several minutes later of perusing a menu, our party collectively decided to leave. The same gentleman came by and condescendingly told us "the table is being cleaned right now". I'm sure it definitely is being cleaned. I bet it's the most cleaned table in the joint. Don't know if we were profiled or simply unwanted but I can gladly say I didn't spend a dime here and you shouldn't either. read more

"Thirty minute wait" for a table for five, but there were not five people at any table, only two tables with four and maybe another empty table for four empty. The logic escapes me. The hostess said she wasn't permitted to seat somebody at the end of the table. That escapes me too. I asked to speak to somebody else who might be in charge. She said he wasn't there.
