What a nice surprise! We were on our way to Chicago and found this place not very far from the train station. Not familiar with this town at all and it didn't look like there was much in the area. But they have a gem of a restaurant here. I had the quesadillas and my wife had a shrimp salad. We also ordered the fry basket and they have different sauces you can get with it. Everything was really good. It was kinda tough to pick my meal because they had a lot of interesting choices on the menu. And the service was great! Very attentive and genuine. This is a nice place. If we're ever taking the train to Chicago again and need to grab a quick meal, we're coming here.

We came in blindly without even looking at the menu and were pleasantly surprised from the start. The restaurant had a cozy feel with cute holiday décor, and although we waited a bit to be seated, the service was worth it--everything arrived exactly as we ordered. The food was delicious across the board, and the biggest surprise was the German pretzel. We were not expecting it to be that huge, and it ended up being one of the highlights. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but for a once-in-a-while dinner, it felt justified. The quality really matched what we paid for. We tried the filet, lobster ravioli, Caesar salad, German pretzel, stuffed mushrooms, and the Diablo pasta, and everything was well-prepared and full of flavor. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish, and we'd absolutely come back.

This restaurant was one of the best on our trip. The food was perfect and our service was great also. Wow, this place was seriously amazing, it was definitely a highlight of our vacation. Everything we ordered tasted absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you're ever in the area. We'll definitely be back next time we visit!

We had dinner here while on vacation. The servers were incredibly friendly. They had the biggest hot pretzel we have ever seen. The green beans were the best I've ever had! I never get very excited about vegetables but I wished I had just a plate of them. The chicken was also very good. We loved it so much we went back a second night. Definitely give them a try!

We went to Fiddlehead on a recent roadtrip. The service, food and ambiance was exceptional. Near the Lake Michigan beach. Highly recommended.

Very cute place in Michigan City with a pretty varied menu including some vegetarian options as well. The chicken carbonara was a little salty but very good. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! Perfectly cooked shrimp with a spicy sauce covered in coleslaw with tomatoes. The Fiddlehead salad looked delicious as well with lots of toppings. The salads are large enough to share, so come hungry and bring friends! They also have a great selection of house cocktails that are creative and well crafted. The service was helpful and pleasant too. Nice place I'll come back to when I'm up that way.

Love the variety of the menu and so many gluten free options. Tried the pirogues this time. Plus the amazing pulled pork sandwich with delicious sweet potato tots. Delicious

Fiddlehead is our favorite! Delicious food, generous portions, attentive service, and beautiful indoor/outdoor spaces. Some menu items sell out fast, so arrive early. Always leave happy and full! Food: 5/5.

I went with the spaghetti bolognese and it reminded me of something homemade. The meat sauce was hearty and not overly salty like some places. The pasta was al dente and the portion was generous. I liked that they served it with garlic bread, which was actually pretty good. Staff was attentive and the food came out fairly quickly. It's a chill spot, good for casual dinners. I'll be back to try the lasagna.

I had the fettuccine alfredo and it was creamy without feeling too heavy. The pasta was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of bite. I could tell the sauce was made fresh and had a nice garlicky undertone that really worked. The portion was generous and I even had leftovers for the next day. Our server was super friendly and checked in often without being overbearing. The restaurant had a cozy vibe with warm lighting and soft music in the background. Definitely a great spot for a casual dinner with good pasta.

Really great food, but the waitress had 3 additional roles: Bus-boy, bartender and hostess. Perhaps the owner could come in and help?

I ordered the White Fish dish and my wife had Tortellini with vodka sauce with added sausage crumbles. Both dishes were incredible and I'd strongly recommend. Now for the downside and the reason for only rating 4 stars. Prior to dinner we split a Zsa Zsa Salad. The menu describes this as having poached shrimp, asparagus bits, bacon, avocado, tomato with a Balsamic Vinaigrette. For some reason the shrimp decided to leave the plate before we got it. Without the shrimp, the salad was boring and pretty much flavorless. We would have liked it better had they used Romaine rather then the foliage we all used to discard before serving. We asked the Bartender about the missing shrimp and she put in an order for a side of shrimp. The side arrived after we had pretty much finished with the salad. Not complaining because we ate the shrimp as it was the best part. The surprise came when we received the bill which contained the $19.00 charge for the salad as well as a $10.00 charge for the side of shrimp. I pointed that out and it was promptly removed. In summary, I'd suggest a hard pass on this menu item. Not to leave this review on a sour note, we love Cafe Farina and as previously mentioned the entrees were both fantastic. As a side note, we tried their privately labeled Farina Valpolicella Red. Moderately priced and well worth it's $56.00 price. We will order that again.

Just a full serving of stanky attitude with a side of complete indifference -- and I didn't even order that. They've got 444 on the door. Angel numbers. Protection energy. We ordered the Elote Pizza, and overall it was really good. It had a nice wood-fired crust that was probably the highlight of the meal. The only downside was that it came with a garlic aioli that was very heavy...there was so much on the pizza that it overpowered some of the other flavors. I think it would have been even better with a lighter hand. For drinks, I had one of their sour beers and my husband ordered an IPA. Both were good, but neither really stood out as anything particularly memorable. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and took good care of us. The layout of the brewery was a little unexpected. We walked into the main entrance, then the host brought us back outside and over to a separate building where the bar is located. It was a little confusing at first, but it ended up being a neat setup. The restaurant was clean, with a spacious dining room and a nice-looking patio. The only thing that kept this from being a higher rating was the value. It felt a little expensive for what we ordered, and while everything was solid, nothing really wowed us. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in, especially as a place to escape the heat for a while. If you're in the area and looking for a casual meal and a local beer, it's worth checking out...I just wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again.

Our group started with the pierogi appetizer, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly fried with a crispy exterior and topped with sour cream, bacon, and onions. Super flavorful and hit the spot! For dinner, I ordered the Chicken & Bacon Jam Sandwich with sweet potato fries. While the chicken itself was tender, the bacon jam was much sweeter than I expected and ended up overpowering the sandwich. I was hoping for more of a savory flavor. The bottom bun also soaked up quite a bit of oil, making it pretty soggy and messy to eat. The sweet potato fries weren't quite my style either because they were heavily coated in sugar and tasted more sweet than savory. Unfortunately, neither is something I'd order again, even though both sounded great on the menu. We visited during a busy Saturday dinner rush, so our food took a while to arrive, but our server was friendly, attentive, and acknowledged the delay, which I always appreciate and understand! We sat outside on the patio, which was a fun place to spend the evening. The only thing I noticed was that there wasn't any music playing outdoors like there was inside, and I think that would have added a little more energy to the space. Overall, I don't want to knock this place too much because I genuinely think it's a great spot for Michigan City. Between the local beer selection, large menu, welcoming atmosphere, and outdoor seating, it's definitely worth a visit! I'd happily come back and try some different menu items next time!
