My favorite place to buy European fresh bread rolls in New Britain. Service is fast and friendly. As someone who grew up in Europe, I enjoy the vibes and always reminds me of home. Great deli meats and delicious bakery items.

11.24.24 This is one of those gems that most people in the area know about and frequent. This place is a goldmine. They seem to be busy every time I have been here. Their wait time for either bakery items or prepared foods or even the coffee has never been an issue. The employees are professionals. They know what to do and they get it done. No fuss no muss. The communication has been a slight issue a couple times but it doesn't bother me at all. Some of their English isn't their first language but with a little patience that goes a long way you can get it done and get what you are asking for. They're all very helpful with explaining when you ask. They do tell you what's in or what type some of their prepared food is if you're unsure. But again, you just have to ask and be patient. They're doing their best and they're doing fine, very fine by me. For those who aren't aware, the primary food and goods here is Polish food which i enjoy. I'm sure there's plenty of other similar types that they carry but for those, in unaware of. The prepared foods are delicious. I love their pierogis. They have a handful of different types from time to time. I love their potato & cheese pierogis. They're very tasty. Some of the soups I've tried are also so rich & hearty. So good ;-) The store is packed with an abundance of products that you just can't readily find anywhere. So I guess this place is also a sorry of specialty store of sorts. The prices to me are reasonable for what you get. Those pickled cucumbers are amazing. Oh yeah, another favorite pierogi is the one with farmers cheese. A slight sweet taste to its but not sugary candy like sweet. Just a hint of sweetness to it. It's hard to explain, but for those who are aware and know what I'm talking about you know how delicious and yummy those are. Some people even sprinkle a lil sugar on top of that type of pierogi. But don't forget the butter too before the sugar. The pierogis are a true delight for breakfast or dinner. Really anytime is a great time for a pierogi. They have their own private parking lot on the side of the store. They carry plenty of products that you're sure to find something that you will like and enjoy. Don't forget about those fresh baked donuts. The Paczki really are truly amazing. They have an assortment of ingredients and flavors of what they're filled with. There are a few different ways to say this donut word Paczki. It depends on what area you're from. One of the ways you say it which is my favorite Is PUNCHKEE. I love their punchkee, aha paczki. Lemon is a favorite of mine and theirs is nothing short of truly amazing and delightful. Try it and you'll be back for more like me. When you walk in, you notice that the store has some type of scent or aroma that transforms you to a magical world of pure delight. Stop by and enjoy, you'll see and smell what I'm talking about.

New Britain and Little Poland gem. If you are looking for that special ingredient to make an authentic Polish meal, you will find it here. Smoked meats, an old fashioned butcher counter, a bakery that has everything, dry goods, and prepared food like grandma used to make for take out. The only downside is it's crowded and hard to get around, and some products ingredients are only shown in Polish.

This bakery is unbelievable big and has anything you are looking for or want and more. Its located in the little Poland section of New Britain. I got to stop in before the closing time. And all I can say is wow. I wanted to try their real homemade cheese pierogis w the onions and the cheese is alittle heavier then the usual but very good. I think they were alittle pricey but then again everything was in there. The workers were very nice but alot were polish and hard to understand. Everything is fresh and you go in and want it all as it's so overwhelming as it's so big. I'm glad I finally got a chance to visit it to see for myself.

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because you can get some of the items cheaper at other polish grocery stores, but do not let that stop you from going here! The selection of food, the quality, the ambiance, the customer service.. Everything about this place is great. It is a wonderful store, very clean, and charming but not in a quaint way. This place has everything. It has 3 or 4 meat counters, a hot bar, and 2 cheese cases & that's not even mentioning the desserts.. Oh, the desserts... There is something like 6 cases of sweets & bakery items, not including breads. As if this wasn't enough, there is a luncheon area where you can order food, have something to drink, and relax. It is very comfortable.. This store is MOST ENJOYABLE to spend time in.

I finally made it to Roly Poly bakery after having it on my radar for quite some time. It's a traditional Polish market in the heart of Little Poland in New Britain. I was so overwhelmed by all of the options inside! They have a full hot bar stuffed with all of the things you would expect to find like: stuffed cabbage, a variety of pierogies, and potato pancakes. But it doesn't stop there! They have lasagna, different types of potatoes, gnocchi, meatballs, and various stews and soups just to name a few things. Their deli counter is stacked with a selection of various meats and cheeses. They have a bunch of options for fresh bread, and a beautiful dessert counter stocked with cakes, different flavors of pązci, and tons of other treats! I tried the blueberry, mushroom/sauerkraut, and potato/cheese pierogi. You can tell that they're fresh made. My favorite was the blueberry. It comes with a side of sweet cream, but honestly they didn't even need it. I was happy just eating them as is! I also got some pączi to try. They had a small box with mini pązci, and they were just okay. I also sampled the raspberry pązci and it was delicious! The woman working at the bakery counter was so patient with me even though they were very busy. I'd recommend taking a trip here before reaching for store bought frozen pierogi the next time you have a craving!

My first time there was a great experience between the breads, the pastries, the meats and the ambience of straight out of feeling like an old market in Poland. The people are so quick to answer a question. Very helpful Desserts brought home are awesome. The cookies as well as the cheesecake as well as the Ryebread, will be back for more

So happy I came. Being a NB resident, this is my first in this cute polish market. I have attempted to come and always came at the wrong times. You definitely will find everything you need here. From Canned goods to a few frozen selections, to Hot food items , Bakery , cafe , cheese , milk ect . They don't have fresh veggies or fruits . The variety of fresh cakes , donuts look delicious. A lot of the items in the store are in Polish but I did find that most of them Have the translation in English or Atleast the ingredients. Their stubbed cabbages ( Golabki) are delicious!! Along with fresh cold cuts. If you like polish food, check Roly Poly and the other polish markets near by and support.

Stopped by with a friend after we grabbed lunch one day and WOW. Huge selection of polish goods. Lots of different types of Polish bread, chocolate, meat, beverages, etc. Was instantly drawn to the bakery portion of the shop. Beautiful display and clean inside. I ended up getting the bird's milk cake and the bialia lilia cake (aka meter long cake). Huge slice of cake for the price. Got some blueberry ale which was delicious as well. Might be difficult to navigate for those who only speak English but many of the products have a tag with the translation on them. Siblings loved the chocolates we got for them. Great place that feels like a slice of Poland in CT

Roly-poly is a Polish specialty store in the Little Poland section of New Britain. Once inside the store you'll actually feel like your in Poland, and it's so much more than a bakery. They have a wonderful deli section. I love their smoke Kabasa that they have hanging up, strung together in two links. Their bakery cakes, and pastries are to die for,and everything is made in the house. Let's not forget their delicious Polish breads. They carry all kinds of Polish grocery items that you can't find in grocery stores. You can also purchase from there great selection of premade Polish foods ready to eat. Grab a carriage because you will not leave there empty-handed.

I've driven past Roly Poly for over 10 years. Every time, I said, "Not today". Well, today was the day, and I have to admit - my prior drive-by's were a terrible decision. Roly Poly is a treasure! I've assumed all this time that Roly Poly was a smaller place with a bakery case full of desserts and baked goods, and a deli case with prepared foods, meats and cheeses. Erroneous! It's a small grocery store with a focus on Polish specialty foods. After you enter, a coffee shop and deli that will make the sandwich of your choice sits to the front left. To the front right, they seemed to have Polish beer, etc., although I didn't enter that area. The middle sections of the store were filled with coolers and room temperature aisles of prepackaged groceries - with a focus on Polish goods. I meant to buy some good rye bread from one of these aisles, but I quickly became overwhelmed and forgot. I didn't have a lot of time, but toward the middle and back of the store, there are three different areas that interested me. First, there was a prepared food area with things like warm chicken and pork cutlets, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, potato salad, sauerkraut salad, entrees, cucumber dill salad and a lot of dishes I didn't recognize. I asked a lot of questions and they humored me. For dinner tonight, I baked pork cutlets (after cutting into smaller sections) and mashed potatoes from Roly Poly for 20 minutes at 375 and then squirted the cutlets with fresh lemon juice. Both the pork and potatoes were were good. The sauerkraut was decent, but a touch mushy even before reheating. The potato salad and cucumber dill salad were fairly good. There also was a large area of baked goods and desserts, with a different sensibility than I'm used to. They had giant Danish. Strips of large desserts that they cut for you. Pastries. Cookies. All sorts of things. Service was very friendly and accommodating of my slow curiosity. I've sampled a couple of things so far that didn't speak to me, but the display case was gorgeous. There was another area of meats and sausages, etc. I wasn't looking for such things today, but I'm already planning a Polish BBQ in my mind. Roly Poly is basically a Wonderland if you like exploring different food cultures - and I do. In terms of the breadth of specialty products you could buy, it reminded me of how I feel when I'm browsing the aisles at the A Dong Asian Grocery in the Shield Street Plaza. Five enthusiastic Stars to Roly Poly for being the best Polish Specialty Grocery (and one of the best ethnic food markets) I've ever visited. I can't wait to explore again. In the service of being objective, I have to note that if I ordered the Roly Poly prepared foods and desserts I've tried so far in a restaurant, I'd have to score the food 3.5 Stars. But that's probably true of most grocery-style stores.

You expect, like the other establishments in the plaza, to find a small cafe style restaurant. When you walk in, you are surprised with fun decor and spacious dining area. Everyone who has gone with me says the same thing "I would never expect it to look like this based on the outside." As for food, they have the Best Reuben sandwich in Rocky Hill. Fries are crispy and price on point. Every meal I've had there has been great! The only downside is table service during lunch is very slow. So make sure you have a full hour to burn if you go for lunch.

Secondly, the latte, cocktail & mocktail options are amazing, along with the many many options of food. I've heard that food from restaurants with large menus are mediocre...this DOES NOT apply here. My party of 2 tried breakfast & lunch options. Both were fresh & so flavorful, especially that homemade syrup I had with the French Egg Holes & Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (3). The home fries came out & were seasoned to perfection. Also, not 1 hard potato to be found. The over medium egg in my thick french toast was actually medium! And they gave me the wholes that were cut from the center of the bread. The pancakes were so fluffy & the icing delish. Tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll. We also ordered 2 different mimosas. The cranberry & the classic. Both were made crispy cold, with quality juices & came garnished. The Salted Cinnamon Mocha Latte, was velvet. It wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't watery or overly bold. I was surprised about how tall the cup was...I drank all of it. It wasn't served scorching hot, so I could sip right away. The Greek Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup was lovely. Typically, soup is watery & looks like it was the last bits, but this had chunky meat, the broth had flavor with hints of lemon. You could see the herbs. This didn't scream, I'm from a can at all. The service was also nice & the waitresses didn't mind that we couldn't make our decisions right away. She & her counterpart offered suggestions & were very kind with checking on us. At the end of the meal, we couldn't help but order some take home from the lunch menu for later. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
