Special birthday event with whing golf…read more Every year I arrange for a special birthday activity with my friends and this time I choose "Whing Golf" at the River Forest Country Club. I had never golfed before, in my entire life, and I came with 10 friends of mine, the majority of which had never golfed either. We were explained how to play and, after a few holes, our teams really started getting a hang of it and everybody loved it! The course is beautiful, the location very easy to reach and my friends were so happy to do something new. We all had fun and everybody is considering coming back again to play Whing Golf. At the end of the afternoon, we went to their Restaurant Lily's and we had a nice dinner in the veranda, where the food was good and the menu not banal at all. We split some appetizers, family style and we accommodated vegetarian and not vegetarian friends. Drinks menu is also very good, with a wide selection of liquors. I am so happy I found the River Forest Country Club: every year I raise the bar for my birthday, and this was absolutely another step up in my birthday experience!

I was living in California and every time I'd get back to the east coast, she'd suggest going here. Unfortunately, we never got to experience a visit here together after she suddenly passed from an aggressive cancer. It became my goal to come here and visit with her on my mind. Years later, I moved back to the east coast and booked a random weekend just for fun. I'm married now with kids so we made the drive here to experience all that the Omni had to offer. I've stayed at other Omni resorts and I wavered on what this place would land on ratings wise. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel with a lot of history that I loved learning about. My kids absolutely loved the indoor pool. It is as gorgeous as the photos look. It's a nice spot, especially when it's a chilly Pennsylvania day like when we visited. With that said, there isn't a ton to do here with kids. It was the perfect amount of time for us, but met other families who were struggling to keep their own kids occupied. There are some really nice trails around the property, which are perfect. And you can also check out some free toys and games from one of the shops inside. That said, if you don't have great weather, options can be limited. We didn't get a chance to visit the spa, but the space looks amazing from what I saw online. The rooms were spacious and well set up for a family. We ate at a few of the restaurants on site. Service was mostly on point though the tavern was really off. Our server was perfectly friendly but pretty much messed up the entire order. I would go back but not sure I'd be eager to rush back anytime soon. We did enjoy the experience but I think a few bumps could be worked out such as helping with our luggage upon arrival. We were able to valet but couldn't find anyone to help us with the bags and the rolling carts don't easily go over the front door to get inside. Between me and my partner, we were able to make it work. But it's those small details that make a property really stand out.

Afterward, we had lunch at the Frontier Tavern, and everything was fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. Every member of the staff we interacted with went above and beyond to make our visit special. From the spa to lunch, the entire experience was memorable and truly exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, and we can't wait to come back again.

My neighbor gave me a driver, and my son and I went to Birdsfoot on a recommendation from another friend. We started out with talking to a couple golfers in the parking lot. They were pleasant people, told us where the driving range is and whatnot. We then went inside the clubhouse and got the tokens for the ball machine. Very pleasant staff, cold drinks in the cooler behind the counter, and the prices of the balls were cheaper than I expected. We got to the driving range, and it was awesome. We hit 4.5 big buckets between the two of us, and had a truly great time. We will be going back for sure.

The hotel was like I remembered. The restaurant and bar are different than my last visit. Sadly, I can't report on those because they close at 8pm. Even on Friday & Saturday nights. Wisp needs to change that for weary travelers who want a beverage after a long drive. They did do an excellent job handling our group and catering our lunch. The group dinner was given good marks by my colleagues. I want to return to play the two golf courses and ride the alpine coaster.

We pivoted and rode the lift to the top. It was a beautiful ride, we saw some animals and lots of interesting plants. Once at the top we hiked around a bit and watched some people do the white water rafting. It wound up being an ok time for my family and I despite the coaster being down.

The workers did not stop nor try to let you hit while mowing no more than 15 feet away from you. It was very bothersome. And another reason one star got knocked off was the course was very very spongy and it was not rainy leading up to the day we golf. It seemed to retain water like crazy. However the sand traps were placed and awesome locations, one green is even entirely enclosed by a Sandtrap. I did like the course and I will play it again and I hope it is not so wet and they're not doing maintenance. Overall I would go and give it a shot if you are thinking about it. Gave this place another shot after staying away for over a year. Big mistake. Every single mat in…read morethe bay was completely destroyed -- massive deep ditches and gouges right where you plant your feet. Not one flat surface in the whole damn place. This is the cheapest, most basic maintenance imaginable and they still can't be bothered to replace a mat once in a while. Brought my $650 driver expecting to actually hit some balls and they hand you these tiny little rubber tees that are barely an inch tall. It's actual absurdity. You're charging people real money and you can't even get the ONE THING right that costs pennies? To whoever the cheapskate executives are now running this circus after the big sale: stop pinching pennies on the stuff that actually matters. You're not "optimizing margins," you're just running the place like dog shit and driving every real golfer away. Never coming back. Save your money and go to an actual driving range.
