They really put in some great work here to make it a well-used, family friendly attraction. Yes, I am calling this an attraction as there are a multitude of things to do in here besides bowling. To the basics here, bowling. Bowling is easy to get going here. Walk in, tell them how many in your party, pay for the game, pick up your shoes and make your way to the lane they assigned to you. Electronic scoring, so no need to worry if you do not know how to figure bowling math. The lanes can be reserved either by the amount of games you plan to play or within a timeframe (like you want the lane for 2 hours). Bumper bowling is available with the railing going up and down if assigned to a person in your party. Balls are available if you aren't an avid bowler, and smaller weight balls, specifically for kids, are usually behind the counter. Our game had five people in our party. We paid for one round of bowling. But before we were able to get to the tenth frame, the lane shutdown. A simple trip to the counter to let them know we were done yet and they had us back up in no time. Each lane has a table behind it in the general area that is reserved to the lanes in front of it. So if you were to order food you can enjoy it here and continue your game. (Review for that restaurant on property forthcoming). Once done with the game, replace your ball, return your shoes, and then you can go about your day. However, there are other things to do here in you see it fit to do. Aside from the restaurant mentioned before, there is a separate section that looks like you can reserve for a private party, good for birthdays and what not. On top of that, they have a pretty decent arcade where you can win token for prizes. In the arcade area there is also laser tag. If you have a card for the arcade, you can swipe it for a game of laser tag. You would think that was enough for under one roof, but there is one more feature to this place. Escape rooms. They have two themed escape rooms that you can play. Not sure if they plan on switching them over anytime soon, but if you have played both of them, you've completed that for here.

Today we went to the library and met a therapy horse, played in a bouncy house, had our face painted, played hop scotch, colored pictures, and did banana split and Daniel Tiger crafts. There is something for everyone. We also enjoyed watching all of the entertainment and singers. And of course we had to get a banana split! There are many food trucks and different vendors selling homemade items too. All and all it's a great time!

Idlewild's Rollo Coaster may seem an anachronism in today's kinetic, adrenelane-charged, high tech world of gigacoasters and monster "woodies" like Cedar Point's Mean Streak and Great America's American Eagle, each park every year vying for the biggest, fastest, and baddest. Believe me, I'm the Roller Coaster Queen and I love coasters like that! No, the Rollo Coaster takes us back to a different time when the object was simply to have fun. This coaster may indeed seem tame by today's standards. But it's an ACE Classic. ACE is the American Coaster Enthusiasts, of which I'm a member www.aceonline.org But keep this in mind. Although the drops may not be that high, this ain't no kiddie coaster. The ride is surprisingly rough! It's a classic old woodie with all the shakes, rattles, rolls, dips, turns, etc. You're still vibrating a little when you exit the ride! The Rollo Coaster is a terrain coaster, meaning that it takes advantage of the ravine it's built in. Kennywood's three woodies are also examples of terrain coasters. It was built in 1938 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, which still makes roller coaster cars. As I understand it, when it was built the designers from PTC came out to the park and fit the coaster to the terrain. One of the other neat things about it is that it's built in a wooded area. Legend has it that some of the trees in the park were used to build the ride. So no, the Rollo Coaster can't compete with the likes of the Maverick, the Phantom's Revenge, The American Eagle, or the Magnum XL. It doesn't need too. This Zoo/Animal Park is a good place to entertain and educate kids. It's perhaps a little kitschy…read moreas it is a bit reminiscent of seventies vacation activities I experienced as a kid. But generally it is what it purports to be, and that's fine. There are a few "non-pettable" animals such as a tiger, camels, wolves, primates, brown bears, etc. In fact, one of our highlights was the sight of a baby camel still learning to walk. But about half the park is comprised of farm animals. Feeds can be purchased in the office and the portion given is plentiful. The carrots and dry feed were more than enough to last for our visit. This is a great chance for the kids to get outside for a while on a nice weather day. They can see, touch and feed quite a few animals including bovine, goats, llamas, sheep, rabbits and others. There is even a small play area for a change of pace. The admission prices are reasonable by today's standards ($18.50 adults, $16.50 seniors and $15.50 age 3 - 11, under 3 free). Im general, it's a nice day out for the kids.

It's a very open course - not a lot of rough, and not too many hazards. It's an excellent place for beginners to learn the game. I always had fun playing at Oakbrook. The cost to play is about half of what I paid at other courses, and I've enjoyed Oakbrook more than the others. The driving range is also inexpensive - about 75% what you'd pay elsewhere. It's a slight drive from Johnstown, but it's definitely worth it.

I think at times it is often overlooked but it has clean restrooms, plenty of picnic tables, camping site, a few hiking trails and pavilions. It is smaller than some of the other state parks. The lake is stocked with trout, but you can also catch perch and blue gill. No boats are allowed and all fishing must be done from the shoreline. It has been years since I was here last. Our family and friends used to swim in the ice cold spring water, but swimming is no longer allowed. The remnants of the old beach can be seen. Nice park for a family picnic and fishing.

The bathrooms were horrible. I am not referring to port-a-johns. I am referring to the brick and mortar female bathroom. In the ceiling is a hole with a bird's nest poking through. All the corners had extensive spider webs. Three stalls??? Perhaps they need to re-think that number. The ability to take a trolley ride was nice touch.

Seriously…read morethough, it's more helpful if you are a firm believer and supporter of 4-H clubs, agriculture and the farming community for starters. A trip to the county fair should not be overlooked and taken for granted. One can easily find themselves on activity overload in no time at all, so be sure to pace yourself. The fair is held for a full week if a one day visit is not enough. If you have never been to a county fair, here is a list of what one should expect: Lots of food vendors. Healthy eating is not an option but you should check each place for safe sanitary conditions and practices. You will see lots of animals. Mainly farm animals, though I did see 2 camels at the petting zoo exhibit. I enjoyed visiting the rabbit section and seeing the various horse breeds. Lots of exhibits. Mainly items that were submitted for judging. Photographs, homemade wine and beer, quilts, baked goods, floral arrangements, canned fruits and vegetables, quiltwork, crochet and needlework, and so much more. You will hear live music, watch a tractor pull, demolition derby or bottle rocket launch, attend a square dance social, observe milking parlor demonstrations, watch live bees at work, or just simply opt to find a nice spot to sit, and people-watch. You never know, you might just spot a few rednecks in the crowd!
