I used to live two blocks from them and always love the small hometown feeling. I brought my pug, Chloe, in on Thursday 4/23 at 4pm. I've used their $80 grooming service three times prior with no issues. This visit was a completely different experience. I was told the service would take about 50 minutes. When I arrived, the groomer was still not finished, and I waited an additional ~20 minutes. The groomer (I believe his name was Drew) explained that he had cut one of Chloe's nails too short, which caused it to bleed for an extended period. I was obviously concerned, but still paid and left a tip and left. Since that visit, Chloe has developed multiple bumps across her body that appear to be a reaction to the products used. She has been extremely itchy, reluctant to walk, and has had a decreased appetite. This has been ongoing for several days. I reached out to the business to address this, especially as some of the bumps began to look worse. Despite explaining the situation, they declined to take any responsibility. I was also told they rotate between different grooming products depending on the groomer, which was concerning given that Chloe had no issues during her previous visits. I explained that I may need to take her to the vet due to the severity of her symptoms and that I didn't feel comfortable covering both the grooming cost and potential vet expenses given the outcome. Their response was that they would not provide a refund and the only thing offered was to return the $10 tip. Based on the other negative reviews, it appears that the owner is hard to work with and also lacks accountability. If you look at the attached screenshots, i still decided to disengage when she mentioned she was expecting. Regardless, she should have delegated her business to someone else while she is going through something extremely important while instead coming off as dismissive and lacking empathy. I'm very disappointed with how this was handled. Additionally, it took multiple days to confirm my appointment, and I had to follow up the day before to ensure it was still scheduled. While I was at the store, an unleashed husky puppy ran up to greet me. Shortly after, a woman grabbed the puppy very aggressively by the scruff, causing it to cry out. Following this, the man she was with proceeded to choke the puppy and yell at it. When I confronted them and stated that their actions were wrong and that the authorities should be called, the man began yelling at me. I picked up the necessary sleeping, food, & toy supplies to welcome Pepper home. She contracted tapeworms & had fleas, & I took her to the Redondo Beach location to have her dewormed & gave her a flea bath; I had to take her back for a 2nd bath because she still had fleas. I've been coming here for about 2 decades. Prices are moderate - high, depending on the brand, & food & litter package size for kitten & cats. I can't comment on the other animal offerings. We also purchased a fish tank for the feeder fish win at a carnival, as well as necessities for a lizard. We have Western Fence Lizards in our complex as well as my former temporary office during the pandemic, where we catch & release. My cousin & his veterinarian wife were capturing the mother cats & their babies to spay/neuter them before the feral colony really got out of hand, & asked me if I was interested in adopting any. After a 1/2 year absence due to the passing of Pepper, we're back because we adopted a 5-week old feral Lynx Point Siamese that we named Snow. This l'il stinker is soooooo adorable & intelligent. By the time she turned 3 months, she can sit, shake, & high 5 on command with treats that we got from Petco. There's currently a buy 1, get 1 50% off; some of her favs are: Tiki Cat Soft & Chewy Tuna Cat Treats (currently 70¢ in-store only), Bonkers Catnip, Chick 'N' Cheddar & Seafood & Eat It Cat Treats, & PureBites Minnow Freeze Dried Cat Treats. I don't use the minnow treats for training because she'll go into a frenzy & attack/eat my fingers; the fish is like a drug & makes her crazy. LOL I only use it as a reward or after she learns a new skill. I tried their collars & she doesn't like the bell or the material. They're also breakaway & this girl will run whenever she gets a chance. Snow seems like she wants to be walked, so I'm looking for something sturdy next that will keep her safe & not escape. Haven't seen anything in-store that will work so I'm planning to look online. The staff here are friendly & helpful when you need something. Just be mindful of their promotions because they don't always ring up correctly; my most recent buy 1 get 1 50% off the Tiki cat treats didn't include the discount as well as the initial purchase of buy 1 get 1 free when I first adopted Snow & rushed to buy kitten food & treats. The store is clean & well-stocked most of the times (sometimes inventory run low or out of stock due to promo). I also like the long hours when we have to pick-up emergency supplies like food or litter, probably should sign-up for auto-ship to fix this issue. Petco IS "where the pets go" & you should go because it's where they can live their best lives. And remember to adopt!! =)

My dog is 15 years old and still has plenty of spirit, but his hearing and vision aren't what they used to be. I always worry about him feeling scared or overwhelmed when I leave him somewhere new. From the moment I picked him up, I could tell he was in great hands. He looked absolutely adorable--clean, perfectly groomed, and somehow even cuter than usual. But what really stood out to me was the extra care the staff took with him because of his age. When I arrived, they explained that they took their time with him and used a special crate dryer instead of rushing the process, specifically to keep him comfortable and safe. As a pet parent, that level of thoughtfulness means everything. It's clear they understand that senior dogs have different needs and are willing to go the extra mile to accommodate them. Finding a groomer you trust can be stressful, especially when your dog is older, but I left feeling so grateful that I found this place. The kindness and attention they showed my little guy did not go unnoticed. We'll definitely be back.
