Loved it here! Came yesterday for some safe, socially-distanced outdoor LDW activities and was not disappointed. Parking is pretty limited, but luckily found a spot in the dirt off to the side. We're dogless but if you have a dog, definitely come here! Tons of walking and hiking trails, with clear markings for which ones allow off-leash. I'd say we hiked about an hour, mostly downhill to the beautiful river where we posted up on a tree in the nice sandy shore area for a quick midday picnic lunch. Getting back UP the hill was tough, but great exercise. Make sure to stop at the many creepy/cool mill ruins scattered throughout the forest. They make for some awesome photos. Overall, a very clean, peaceful, and quiet hike with very few people run-ins and far enough from the highway to make you feel extra far away from the city. Traffic on 76 to get there on a Saturday afternoon kinda sucked, but I'd say well worth it.

Came here to get some fresh air and exploring with our kids and dog - and everyone enjoyed it, especially Jersey (dog). There are paths that go down to the river and you can let your dog off leash (it's ok, the signs encourage it). There is also a large fenced in dog park. There were bathrooms on site near the dog park and parking area, but they were closed for winter. We didn't make it all the way down to explore the trail along the river, but we'll be back!

This park is just beautiful providing sites of nature including trees, meadows and a river while providing a great spot to hike. While this location is somewhat hard to find, you won't miss the large sign. Inside the park, you are greeted by a small parking lot and a few grassy meadows. To the left of the parking lot is a very spacious dog park filled with wood-chips and a couple trees. While the trails are the main attraction here, there are many other things to do. They have a swimming pool, many historical sites including old mills and a farm that has sheep. However, if you are here you must visit the trails. They have multiple trails based on different categories. However, most of them are based upon dogs being on or off leash. The trails can get pretty steep, so you have to be in good shape to do them. The best part of the trail is seeing the large abandoned mills and the beautiful creek. The largest mill was actually turned into a record studio and was covered with graffiti, including the famous "mouse." It is now abandoned. I always love going down to the creek as well and skipping some stones. Along your will see fellow hikers and many cute dogs. I have brought my dog in the past, but she is on the older side now. The only reason this park loses a sign is due to the bad signage and lack of trail signage. I will definitely be returning!

I'm definitely happy that I remembered the name of this park. Because I considered my parks list to be kind of empty without it. This spot has definitely provided me with some of the most beautiful scenes of nature that I have ever experienced, and it's a hiking enthusiasts dream. once you pull into the parking lot you'll instantly be in awe of the wide open green field. there's plenty of stones and green spots to sit down for reading and picnics. but it's also the perfect spot for a game of Frisbee. You might find yourself being tempted to stay on that hill all day. But don't because the best things about this park lie within the trail in the woods. Aside from being an ideal spot to shoot a horror scene depending on what time, the trail provides you with a good spot to find some ruins. there are at least 2 shells of old buildings claimed by nature. but don't stop there because the end of the trail leads to a breathtaking creek.

My fiancé and I have ventured with our two dogs to many a park west of the Philly city line and this was by far our favorite! We are always trying to find great new hiking spots for the dogs and this one hit the spot. As others have said, it was a bit hard to find, but what a gem! This place is rich in history, has both on- and off-leash trails, open fields, a pool, and a fenced-in dog park. While the off-leash trails made us a bit hesitant with our leashed, yet well-behaved dogs, I have to say that every single dog and owner we met yesterday were very friendly! Also as was discussed in other reviews, the trails did get a bit steep on one side of the mountain going down to the creek, but we took the alternative trail back up and it wasn't as bad. One of the negatives was the signage - trails weren't signed well at all, and there was a red colored trail not even denoted on the map, but in general, it was very easy to keep track of where you were and how to get back. The trails are large and cleared. The atmosphere is very serene. The creek area is beautiful, had some small rapids, and has many open areas along it for dogs to take a cool down dip and owners to wade. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a calm atmosphere of decent trails, open fields, other dogs, and water! We will be back!

This is such a lovey spot, my pup and I absolutely love it!! The off leash trails are such a cool thing that we haven't been able to find anywhere else, and all pups and humans are very responsible and respectful, very thankful for this spot!

Rolling Hill Park, is a perfect example of how Yelp works for me. This is one of the places ive come to, based solely on a review on Yelp ( McThrill's to be exact). Ive had his initial review bookmarked for quite awhile, and deemed today to be the perfect day to try it out. Its not an easy place to find. Set way back, amongst the winding roads of Gladwyne, I wasnt sure what was private mansions and what was the park until I saw the sign (and this from a former Lower Merion cop!). Once there and parked, I realized how spot on McThrills description is. It was gorgeous and we immediately felt that we had made a good choice in trying it out. There was a map plaque in the parking lot. I wish there were maps that you could take , like many state parks have, but alas, we were on our own. I had the idea of taking a picture of the map with my digital camera and this was helpful but not ideal. To add to the confusion, im 98% sure that the blue trail and yellow trail were mixed up on the map. Its not a huge problem because the area is not so large as to get really lost. At no point did I have to resort to eating anyone in my party. We could hear the creek and see the ruins so it wasnt to hard to keep our bearings. It was cool to see the large broken structures still standing proudly amongst the wildlife. This weekend, we had made a point to watch the entire Star Wars cannon, so of course we brought our lightsabers, and of course this was not Rolling Hill Park, but a secluded section of the planet Endor. The damn Empire reduced these buildings to ruins!!! My kids love the creek, and this one (I believe its Mill creek) was no disappointment. My daughter was soaked in no time, splashing ,my son, who hates getting wet. My only complaint besides the possible map issue, is that they offer public restrooms at the entrance....which stay locked. We witnessed a staff member, unlock one, use it, and lock it back up again. Not that they are required to provide a restroom but whats with the tease? The evil Empire was eventually defeated and it was time to go home. The size of the park was perfect for a day trip with kids or dogs (we saw many, RHP is very dog friendly). We were able to see all that we wanted to within a 2-3 hr time frame. Once again, thanks to Yelp and thanks to McThrill, for pointing out yet another free diversion for my kids and my cheap ass.

100% my favorite park in the area! Great place for dogs, or if you love to see them. Every time we go here we meet some super nice people in passing. I would say that the trail system is a little confusing, but it's basically a big circle. Great when it's hot out to walk and stay cool, easy to walk, and cool vibes of the old buildings mixed in. Will continue to come back for sure!

I am miserable to report that, for the Wissahickon, you can probably just show up somewhere near the park, find an entrance, and have an absolutely beautiful ambling experience no matter what. This is a sprawling park with many different trails that are clearly marked, many of which veer off of the main "Forbidden Drive" that anchors you to the creek. My dog and I traversed for about 4 miles along this path and the yellow trail, looping back to where I parked on Green Lane. There was SO much that we missed so I am looking forward to heading back soon and trying a different trail. We arrived at around 10am on a beautiful Saturday morning, later than I had hoped due to traffic, but the park was not overcrowded and I found parking with ease. This is a park for every season and I can't believe it took me seven months of Philly living to get up here. If you're an overplanner like me, I DO recommend a look at the website which does a great job discussing parking and realistic trail descriptions. Looking forward to many a park day with my dog and exploring more elements of this fantastic park.
