Hard to rate an entire park this massive, but all things considered, after 5 years of traversing the trails here, this is an awesome park. Note that I live in U-City, so the fact that such a massive trail system exists in only a ~20 minute drive, depending on which part of the park I start in, is a blessing and keeps my sanity. Friends of Wissahickon does a great job maintaining trails and even expanding the system over the past few years. I don't think I've ever observed an unseemly part of the park. Definitely unseemly times of year like the snow thaw or the time between the trees dying and the snow falling, but otherwise, this park is beautiful all times of year. I've never had a hard time parking, never even had trouble with crowds even around the most popular trails (ex. Forbidden Drive). Even the bikers are friendly and patient here! Would strongly recommend not only visiting but coming back to keep exploring! I'm still finding new gems in this massive trail system.

Today I decided to switch things up and take a trip to Valley Green in Wissahickon Park, Philly…read more I've always heard about Devil's Pool but had never been, so when I saw the trailhead, I figured--why not check it out? What I've known about Devil's Pool is that it's been a popular hangout spot, especially for teens and young adults--swimming, drinking, smoking, etc. But I wasn't prepared for how disappointing the trail would be. At nearly every turn, there was trash--plastic bottles, wrappers, and even entire black garbage bags just left behind. The closer I got to Devil's Pool, the worse it got. There are clear signs asking visitors to take their trash with them, yet so many clearly don't. It's really disheartening to see such a beautiful natural space disrespected like that. Instead of feeling peaceful or connected to nature, it honestly felt a bit unsanitary and neglected. Wissahickon Park deserves better. If you visit, please respect the space and take out everything you bring in.

I've been able to check out some of the outdoor exercise equipment a handful of times in the…read moremorning, when it's not too crowded there. I've also brought the toddler over to play around a bit in the morning, and it's been a fun spot to check out. The playground has a small kid area, which I appreciate. The exercise equipment is in two separate spots in the park (that I'm aware of), which makes for a nice workout - run to the one by the baseball fields, do some exercise, then run back around to the one near the memorial and do some exercises and stretches there. It's closer to home than the longer route I usually run, so I like doing this shorter route with some additional workouts if I'm a little more crunched on time in the morning.

Because of Alcohol there comes a time where you might find yourself having to help a friend walk down two incredibly vast hills and the longest flight of suicide stairs that you ever witnessed, as he flails his $300 sunglasses and weaves tales that you can't even begin to grasp all the way. There also comes a time where because of it you magically see a regular bush materialize into a perfectly tan set of buns. and as you start to sober up a little bit you realize that you were caught in the act of staring at someone when they were in an awkward squatting position for over a minute. And when that happens you have to go back and tell your friends about no matter what nickname it earns you (I've earned nicknames for reasons far worse that I'll plead the fifth on.). And yet while all of the above are situations that can go horribly wrong, they manage to go horribly right. I'm nowhere near the lengthy wordsmith that Aaron is. But luckily since he summed up the whole adventure smashingly I don't need to be. He's dead on about it being a fine blend of Rittenhouse Square and Logan Circle (with a little bit of *ahem* Clark Park added in). And it's named for a statue that makes me wish that I had a giant cup of dipping mustard handy. And all of that, and the many adventures that it weaves is enough to make Pretzel Park pretty impressive.

Pastorious park is a place where there are quite a few events that are family friendly such as musical concerts during the summer. Additionally, they have other events like a lobster feast in September and you can also rent the grounds for your very special occasions. There are various places to park on the perimeter of the grounds and nearby city streets. It's not plentiful, but it's enough for midsize events of approximately 100-200 cars. Of course the neighborhood is very safe if you park your car in a residential area you can walk away feeling secure. As long as you are a respecting the homeowners and the neighborhood.

I love the dawn redwoods, which remind me of my time in Northern California. There are interesting sculptures to see. The formal gardens are lovely, with lots of gorgeous roses. I've not yet taken the railroad. Beyond the carefully curated gardens and arboretum are the wetlands along the Wissahickon. You can spend a lovely day in nature exploring the trails.

It's not unusual to see artists, classes, and families at Morris. Despite this, it never feels crowded. We love Morris so much that we joined their membership program a few years back; it's a membership that we keep active. The community programming is a nice add, and we've even picnicked here once. We appreciate the nods to the community (e.g., the scaled down Chestnut Hill West SEPTA stop), and the areas of Morris that speak to all members of the family. We'll definitely be back.

Manayunk is a great bike-friendly area with plenty of spots to lock up the bike, whereas going west is scenic and great for just biking around. On the way west, one thing to watch out for is the sewage treatment plant as you approach Norristown - it stinks, especially in the summer! Beyond that point, though, there are beautiful views of the river as you continue on toward Valley Forge. Also on the way there, you pass by Port Indian, a charming little community that I don't know much about. Then, you can bike into Valley Forge or keep going to explore more. One of my favorite places to bike in the Philly area!

Overall, my experience was very disappointing. Between the lack of communication from management, unreliable maintenance, poor property conditions, and the package theft, I was relieved to move out.

You meet so many friendly faces along the way . On the cynwyd side all the way at the end there's the Cynwyd train station Where you can stop in for a cup of coffee or bite to eat whatever hits your fancy. There's also a children's park there are several parking lots where you can enter into the trail. It's really peaceful, serene, well kept and maintained.

There is a gravel portion and a paved portion and I have biked and run on both. Pre pandemic they hosted yoga classes on the bridge. It is much improved now that the bridge doesn't lock at night.
