I ordered the pioneer popper and spam and crab musubi both I enjoyed. The pioneer popper however was missing something without the dipping sauce it was flavorless. Maybe adding a pinch of salt or some type of seafood seasoning into the cream cheese filling ?

Lunch time

Spur the moment lunch in Pioneer Square. While the concept of the sushi burrito is not new to me I have not indulged in them prior to this given the number of folks frequenting this food truck versus the others seem like a good bet that there was some good food to be had. The food is an instant, but they really execute well and it wasworth the small amount of Wait time. I went for the always sunny sushi burrito and it was well worth the $15 price tag. This one's a keeper !

On a trip to Starbuck's, I spotted this gem. I ordered a great salmon skin salad. That was so crispy and delicious. The dressing was the perfect compliment. I also ordered the Northern Lights Sushi Burrito. It had fresh salmon and shrimp tempura on it. Super good! Very fresh. The perfect bite of some of my fave sushi ingredients. The best 21 bucks I've spent in some time. Grab you something! SYOY!

Soft Shell Crab

Soft shell crab was excellent!!! Breading was perfect and it was great quality crab. So good we got another one. Five stars! For the price, the Always Sunny is a deal! The ginger guacamole sauce was super delish. Five stars! The spam musubi had perfectly fried spam with a tasty sauce. I think it's a work in progress since they are getting a musubi maker since it had an amorphous shape. Love that it's made to order though. Four stars! The manager was very attentive and gave us the best service. He alone should get five stars!

I was in the area and wanted a quick bite, so I decided to check out this sushi burrito spot. I was super excited as sushi burritos were only something I've heard of, so I couldn't imagine what it would be like. This spot is a convenient food truck at Pioneer square, next to a couple others! They have quite a few options, with diverse fillings and even vegan options~ My friends and I each ordered a sushi burrito and the service was very quick. Overall, they were very good and filling. You definitely get a good quantity of fish and fresh avocado (or whatever other topping you get), so it balances out with the rice very well. Great stop for a quick bite when you're in the area!

Portlandia poke bowl

I stopped by the Pioneer Square cart and got the Hey Macarena as a poke bowl. It was a little heavy on the rice ration and a little light on the sashimi for a poke bowl. It was good though in regards to flavor and freshness, if you over looked all the rice. I will have to stop back and try this as a burrito and see if that fixes the rice ration issues.

Always Sunny

It you're in the Pioneer Courthouse Square area, definitely check out this food truck! I ordered on Yelp from my nearby hotel room and then walked 2 minutes to pick up my Always Sunny sushi burrito. The proportion of fish to other ingredients was just right, and the fish tasted very fresh. They also included soy sauce, napkins, etc. in the bag.

If you are struck in miserable downtown Oregon treat yourself nice with a no nonsense Sushi Burrito. I promise you won't regret it.

They have a tasty selection of rolls & it was a fun twist to the usual sushi presentation. It's a good option for on the go eating too. Service was quick & friendly.

Shrimp Tempura Side, Salmon Skin Crispy Chips, Northern Lights

Server was super nice and even made some recommendations. I ended up going with the Northern Lights, Shrimp tempura, and Salmon crisps. All were delicious. I did wish there was a little less rice in the burrito, but overall great. At the time we ordered, we only had to wait about 10 minutes.

If you're not downtown, they also have a smaller location on the east side! To start I got the takoyaki, or fried octopus balls. It was crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, with a tender and chewy piece of octopus, topped with a sweet sauce and fish flakes. Yum!! For my main, I wanted to try one of their broth-less udons and chose one of the specials, the Mentaiko kama-tama Udon--house-made flat udon noodles tossed in and onion oil, bonito, and soy dashi sauce. The noodles are topped with Men-taiko (spicy Tarako caviar), soft egg, tobiko, tempura puffs, green onions, and nori. I also added ikura (as recommended). I've never had flat udon noodles or broth-less udon but I'm forever changed. The minimal broth allows the toppings to be the stars of the show, and here was no exception. The flavors were complex, but balanced, and the variety of textures kept me coming back for another bite. The soy dashi sauce was full of umami and a subtle spicy kick, the fish eggs added pops of saltiness, and the tempura puffs and green onions added some crunch and offset the richness from the other toppings. The house-made noodles also made a huge difference, they were chewy but tender, and soaked up the soy dashi perfectly. I could not recommend Shigezo Izakaya enough!

Menu is filled with rolls, appetizers, and ramens. We tried two ramens and they're some of the best we've had in town! Noodles were well-cooked, both the thin and thick ones. Generous meat portion and it's cooked well. The broths were piping hot and flavorful too. We also tried the Fried Squid Legs and Tsukune. Again, both were delicious and made fresh. Nothing to complain here, we'll definitely be back.

Having just coming back from Japan, me and my wife were craving the experience. So far our favorites have been the sashimi salad, lava salmon, citrus YTJ roll. These are a must order every time. The fresh sashimi salad with their citrus dressing is super refreshing. There's a healthy amount of fish in it too for only $9!! The skewers are authentically prepared. Japanese skewers are on the smaller size but the prices reflect that too. The chicken skewers are less than $3 each which is really nice in this economy. The wagyu skewers are really good too but $8.50 each. My favorite part is you can try so many different options for so cheap. Highly recommend.

Maybe the idea is to help with any language barrier -- the server spoke fluent English, while often the sushi chefs do not -- but we found him way too attentive. We sat at the bar so we could interact with the sushi chefs. We did talk with a chef, but his advice wasn't very specific. So...despite plenty of suggestions from the server, and some advice from the chef, and a long time perusing and discussing the extensive menu, we still weren't sure what to order. We finally went with a combo and were disappointed to see it served in a boat! That just seemed like a gimmicky, touristy thing, we would have preferred a plate. The fish actually was very good, and so were the salads. A shrimp nigiri was the only misstep, as the shrimp was overcooked. I guess I would return to this place -- hopefully on that server's day off! And make sure my order is not coming on a little boat. And skip the shrimp.
