The dining room was modern and the open kitchen was cool--you could see the cooks preparing the dishes from your table. We were seated at a table that wraps around the kitchen with a group of others. Although it was cool to see the cooks doing their thing, it's not the most intimate setting. For this experience, we ordered the 11 course premium tasting menu. It was not a bad price overall. The service was alright, we heard from our server whenever the courses came out and the pacing of the courses were rather abysmal. The food wasn't anything super special in my opinion but it wasn't bad for the price. There were no memorable flavors to me and I was lacking some unique courses. When I do tasting menus like this, I love to have some courses that I hadn't thought of ordering anywhere else. In addition, the menu was very fish heavy. I like fish, but would've loved more meat options too.

If you want expensive sushi then this is the place to eat! Highly popular and undoubtedly exceptional with the price to easily tag along for tapas style portions this place was lively, energetic, and pricey. A plus for me was it was open late in an area that shuts down relatively early. My King Crab rice pot was excellent, flavorful, and filling and the presentation was excellent. I sat at the sushi bar but it really seemed like a kitchen in the middle of the action and it was filled with action with the chefs calling out orders and sous chefs acknowledging them. The presentation of all meals was superb and that should be rated 5 stars . I was anxious to be fed after a long day and my standards were closing. My food was excellent but in my haste I didn't check prices. I'm not sure I was dressed correctly for this trendy spot but I walked in like a king and received good service.

Food = 5 Stars I sampled sushi and cooked entrees. Chu Toro was my favorite raw dish: the fish was cut in generous (but still beautiful) portions, perfectly marbled, and amazingly fresh. Of the cooked entrees, the rice bowl with truffles and mushrooms was the standout. Savory yet delicate, and served piping hot with final mixing of ingredients done tableside. Service = 4 Stars Being a single diner, I wanted to try to omakase and they wouldn't permit me to order it. And when you pay a premium for the ambiance... service really matters. I felt like I wasn't given the same level of attention as some of the parties around me at the bar (many of whom did order the omakase). If I were to visit again, I'd try to bring a friend and try the omakase, but as a frequent business traveler, and therefore frequent single diner, I would take my business elsewhere and try something else rather than be treated as 2nd class and not permitted to try the chef's selection omakase.

Food gets five stars. Service gets none, especially for the cost. Swanky Mayfair crowd, and lively though not too loud despite being full. Hostesses on the snooty side as well. Cooked dishes better than sushi. Definitely would return on someone's expense account. But not my own dime.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for our anniversary. We left feeling well taken care of :) Food - we got the premium tasting menu and it was delicious. The starter of yellow tail sashimi and truffle oil was super delicious. The truffle oil was subtle but very tasty. I ended up using some on my ginger that came with the sashimi platter and it was very different but so good. Another hit was the seafood dumplings. Very crispy on the skins and moist on the inside. They flavored it well so it tasted like it was pork/beef but the texture was of fish. The seafood was exceptionally good tonight as we went on to the Chilean sea bass over rice. The skin was extra crispy as they panfried it while they kept the inside well cooked. The dessert at the end was such a good way to end it. So many different fruits, 3 sherbets, a rocky road kind of ice cream and a short cake. Service was fair. The server was nice and they were attentive as well as on time for plate removal. The coat check in the front was a plus too!

We had the Tokujo premium tasting menu @rokamayfair Absolutely delicious, as usual the service the food the ambiance and the presentation was lovely The wagyu beef, the yellowtail, the lamb and the sashimi were simply amazing, the flavours are still playing in my mind I love the robata grill as you sit next to each other enjoy a lovely conversation and see the chefs working, the standards are high, last night I saw one of the chefs cooking wagyu beef which looked a bit like medium well done, it took him 2 secs to make a decision and cook a new one.. Roka Mayfair is classy Top 3 in my list of fav restaurants in London'

Absolutely Fantastic Restaurant! Incredibly quick and courteous service, perfect sized portions made with nutritious and healthy ingredients. You can really taste that the food has been well taken care of. We came for lunch and had a set menu. Where you could choose the main. I have never tried better fish in my life. Everything was delicious and vegetarian options were available. The meal culminated in a large platter of dessert, the highlight of which was the chocolate Buddha. Fresh fruit, delicious cocktails, creative dishes. Need I say more? Give them a call and book your table, I promise that you won't regret it!

Wow! The food at Roka is nothing over the top but amazingly fresh & tasty. Order from al carte so you get to try dishes to your taste and not offered on the tasting menu (works out cheaper too!). The ones we tried that got thumps up around the table were: deep fried Aubergine, tuna tartare w/caviar and rock shrimp & banana puffs for dessert. Definitely a place fit for Mayfair and exceptional service!

Having been back to london town for a short while again, this was one of the hot new sushi places that popped up that I hadn't tried. Set one of london's expensive areas- Mayfair- you already know it's going to be pricey. The real question is whether or not this place would stand up to its reputation. I usually hate to include service in my reviews, because in my books good food always trumps service. But this place was not up to standard. It was annoying that in this kind of 'up-scale' restaurant the waiters were bringing us food that we hadn't ordered, not once but several times. To add to that even though it was not crowded when I was there there was slow service. I had to mention it because it simply wasn't good enough for the kind of restaurant Roka is trying to compete with. Now for the important bit- the food. Overall their appetisers were good, but nothing special. Their miso soup was average. The actual sushi was fresh... Very very fresh. It was the freshness of all the ingredients that made it good. I can't really describe that feeling when you take that bite of sushi and the combination tastes is just right, there aren't a lot of place that can do that. This place is known for its "fireside Japanese cooking" and so we had to order so grilled dishes. The steak dish was good but the chicken - although good- was something I feel I could've cooked at home. Overall I think the commotion was over its location, nice interiors, and as you'll see in the photos - nice presentation. Overall this place might be just looks. I would give it a 3.5 because it was lacking in most of the departments except for the sushi.

The food was very good, the service was nice , the location was nice and quiet. It is classy and the food was satisfying to all ends. It was a nice because it was out first time trying Japanese food. We were surprised because even though we ordered a lot of food the price was decent.

While it may be a bit on the pricey side, the experience is undeniably worth every penny, especially if you're looking for a night of shared dishes, attentive service, and great atmosphere. the mood is perfect for an intimate dinner or a celebration with friends, as it was when i came here for my birthday! the guac was prepared on the table, and had a great freshness to it, but was not worth the money imo bc it tasted pretty ordinary to me. same for the antichuchos de pollo - they were so small and tasted like regular skewers to me - they had a nice smoky flavor, but nothing that couldn't be achieved at home easily. i liked the trio de maiz, which had many different types of maiz, and was presented beautifully! the dish was very fresh and almost nutty. also liked their take on patatas bravas, which was perfectly crispy and with a delicious creamy sauce. love love loved the tiradito de pez limon, which had the most melt in your mouth yellowtail crudo/sashimi. it was paired with an amazing slightly spicy green chili sauce, and overall flavors were phenomenal. the orange tobiko wasn't there though... the salmon was one of the best things i had that night - perfectly cooked and tender, melty and delicious! amazing flavor pairings, scrumptious overall! dessert was one of the highlights of the meal as well. the churros were citrusy and fried to perfection, and paired with a great sauce. my personal favorite was the passionfruit mango pavlova thing, which had such a bright tartness! everything was served on what looked like homemade pottery, so lovely! the price point seemed a little irrational for what we received, but everything was delicious, and the overall experience was amazing! highly recommend if you're feeling a bit posh or just want to treat yourself!
