Dr. Satok always takes great care when listening to and assessing my ailments. His calm demeanour reassures even during the most stressful of moments and his deep care for his patients is evident with every interaction. He has gone above and beyond for me more times than I can count, keeping on top of my progress during recovery periods, monitoring my therapy and adherence to prescribed activity. And when therapy is working, and progress is being made, his genuine and heartfelt happiness for my improving state of wellness is so welcome, especially in this day and age. The reason I am taking the time to write this is because of the nature of the negative reviews. The staff are perfectly pleasant enough, they are not over chatty and they are not dismissive. They are doing a great job, they aren't your friends they are managers of the doctors schedules and resources. Dr.Beattie is ALWAYS prompt in receiving me, I cannot believe how efficiently he runs. He knows exactly how much time we have and what we can get done, he doesn't leave you hanging if more needs to be done he suggests another appointment to thoroughly address your concerns. He is very direct, polite and realistic. For knowledgeably I give him a 10/10 because he doesn't pretend to know everything about everything. If he doesn't know the answer, he will look it up. If the condition needs a specialist, he will refer you. If you don't need a test you googled, he will explain why but run what needs to be run to assure you of his recommendation. Your doctor is not your friend, not your pal, not your savior and definitely not your yes man. The same way you expect them to be professional and helpful, you need to be reasonable and level headed.

The short summary is that he probably was a good doctor once upon a time but his not consistent…read moreprofessionalism, long wait times and occasionally missing important factors in diagnosis detract from him as a health care provider. He has missed critical diagnosis factors that even a layman can sense. Which can lead to greater maladies than required. He doesn't seem to consistently keep track of medications and possible interactions that seniors are on. He also can be grouchy and has the bedside manner that's more like that of someone who woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I'd give him a lower review but for other neighbors and relatives he seems to please them. He also has in years past had moments of being helpful or seemingly caring. So that has to be factored in somewhere somehow right? He seems to pride himself as a surgeon or somebody with more training and offerings than a typical generalist but at seems to miss simple things such as your script. I won't comment about the wait times because those have been discussed elsewhere in quantity and detail. I don't know what goes on in his mind but he doesn't seem to be really enjoying what he does, where he's at or a lot of the patients that he sees.

He has given clear explanations of diagnoses and possible treatments and procedures. I've never had the impression that he is simply "mailing it in" while his mind is on golf or cars. He has never seemed aloof or dismissive. His staff are friendly and helpful. I'll concede that maybe he is too serious and professional for some patients. I am troubled by the negative review, and wonder whether the reviewer is using a passive-aggressive approach to express anger by causing real reputational harm in this way. Seriously: You went to him for YEARS, and concluded that you were disappointed. Fine. You're entitle to your disappointment. But to slag him in this way? That seems over the top.

I ended up having a series of very serious heath problems and losing faith in doctors for several yrs...when i ended up need a family doctor not knowing where to turn I asked friends ....one girlfriend suggested a doc she had had since childhood (wow sounds great right?) Imagine when she told me it was Dr. Hopkins!! lol I was thrilled to find my favorite childhood doc after all those yrs..btw. I am 49 now. My mother was going through menopause, and he told her to just 'deal' with it, he's not accommodating at all and does all this under the guise of 'tough love'.. don't go to him if you want to be looked after and taken care of.
