What a darling cafe. Decorated with a variety of porcelin pieces on hutches and shelves, mirrors reflecting the light, oil paintings in many styles. Tables are covered in floral fabrics, soft pillows on the chairs, a small dish with single serve ketchup, malt vinegars and sugar. A fireplace helps keep to cold at bay in a room full of soft sofas and arm chairs.
We arrived before lunch and was givwn the breakfast/brunch menu. Before I ordered a pot of tea a small pitcher of milk was placed on the table. Tea is served in a small pot, enough for two cups. Coffee is served by the cup.
The porridge and fruit compote are served piping hot. Warm, thick and a bit salty it was a hearty dish to sustain on a cold day. The fruit compote is just sweet enough to perfectly balance. The Irish breakfast (requested without pudding) is a filling, protein filled, tasty meal.
Our waitress was the owners' daughter, very sweet and friendly. We asked a lot of questions about the building. If not for the old petrol pumps, you would never guess this cute building was once a gas station. It's so cozy it would make a great tiny home.
