In a world where the name "Rogers" is synonymous with absolute rage, this discrete Rogers Plus store in the FCP Concourse stood out like a beacon shining through a land of shitty service. BLASPHEMY, you say, ROGERS IS THE WORST. Sure. Usually. But not here. Here, the folks offer a level of care and going above and beyond for the customer that is rarely seen these days.
The thing with Rogers is, I've been with them for as long as I can remember. It's almost like they're playing a game of how high they can raise your blood pressure and see how far they can take you before you threaten to leave them. Almost like a manipulative girlfriend/boyfriend. So when my shitty phone broke down after months of issues that existed since I got it 6 months ago, I was livid to hear the words "not covered under warranty" because of a crack on the back camera part.
Sometimes, you meet some genuinely nice folks who want to provide great service. Like Jesse. Jesse's the manager of Rogers Plus and for a month, he helped me through this emotional roller coaster during which my phone was sent in for repairs. All through it, he kept in touch, he was patient with my constant check ups, and more than anything, HE HELPED ME FIGHT FOR JUSTICE! Email after email, he somehow chipped away at the cold, stone heart that is the Samsung repair team and convinced them that the crack on my phone isn't indicative of user damage that can fry a motherboard (yeah, seriously Samsung???).
I was THIS close to leaving. Honestly, I was already shopping for new phones and providers. And then Jesse performed a miracle. Forget turning water into wine. He somehow got the repair guys to fix the motherboard, fix all of my original issues, and fix my cracked camera COMPLETELY UNDER WARRANTY. My phone is better than ever. I owe my first born child to that man (no, not really, but I will praise him endlessly).
I guess it turns out there are actually some pretty cool people working in one of the most hated companies in Canada. Literally the best possible outcome in a crappy situation. So despite my rage, I will continue to stay in this abusive relationship with our corporate telecom overlord. But only for people like Jesse and team. Seriously. Give those guys a raise, damn it!!
