They took the batch of typical X-rays and the next thing the dentist came in and suggested the removal of a tooth next to a dental implant. This is the first dentist I know that has ever suggested not saving a tooth. I contacted my old dentist from another state who took a look at my X-rays they had on file from just a couple months ago and he didn't see the logic. Furthermore, he advised that removing a tooth next to an implant actually causes more harm than good. Added to the insult, the dentist suggested the complete replacement of a perfectly good crown on the implant...a procedure which is NOT covered by insurance vs a "repair" which is covered. I guess some dentists see a couple of implants and think they can get more $$. I have had a lot of dental work done due to an accident so I know probably more about dentists than I care to admit. So, my best advice is to shop around...not all dentists are created equal. Even though dental insurance is pretty crappy, most dentists understand and work with insurance companies. Save your money and shop around and don't ever go to a dentist that suggest replacing perfectly good dental work just to get an extra dollar.

My husband is a friend of Dr. Felder's and we were chatting one day at a ball game. My husband had told the doctor what my dentist had suggested. Dr. Felder suggested that I come by his office for a free consultation. I was still wary, but I made the appointment. Dr. Felder confirmed the diagnosis and offered to perform the root canal right then. I agreed. He had very gentle hands, finished the procedure in an hour, and did it to perfection. No high spots. Fortunately, he referred me to Dr. Bell. From the moment I walked into the office, there was a feeling of serenity and hospitality. I was seen very close to my appointment time and the assistant did a very thorough intake, including several imaging studies. Dr. Bell explained everything in detail and answered all my questions. This man is absolutely brilliant and it was obvious from the moment he began describing the procedure and the options. Dr. Bell did a few painless injections of local anesthetics and then the procedure itself was completely pain free. After hearing such horror stories of how painful a root canal procedure could be, I was apprehensive. But it was totally unwarranted; I felt absolutely nothing during the procedure. The entire evolution was very efficient and professional and I was completely at ease. I was stunned at how uneventful and painless the entire procedure turned out to be. My point in writing this: don't delay an indicated root canal because of dental phobia. The longer you wait, the more likely the dental issue will progress. This is the place to go; they will take exceptional care of you if my experience was any indication of the incredibly professional and efficient practice at the Pensacola Center for Endodontics.
