Just got 3 of my wisdom teeth removed from Philip Lin. And it was a great experience overall. Only bummer was my insurance didn't cover the panoramic X-ray so it was $180 for a photo of my teeth :/ this was because I had gotten different X-rays from my dentist the week before. Dr Lin was an extremely empathic and personable dentist who knows what he's doing. My teeth are a bit weird and I have a few baby teeth. So it's difficult to have a plan on what to do. Dr Lin gave me all the options he could, including one where I didn't get my teeth removed. (Which is a great sign he's not in it for the money). But in the end we decided it was best to remove 3 teeth. He prescribed antibiotics for the day before to prevent any preventable complications. Surgery day, they were amazing and made me feel very comfortable. Even gave me a blanket! And 3 different types of anestesia (bc I hate needles). I also requested to keep my teeth and they packaged it in a sterilized bag! I made sure to ice well the first day. And to be honest, I barely had any swelling on the 2nd and 3rd day. I also had very little to no pain. I was starting to eating solid crunchy foods by day 3. Dr Lin was a very gentle and skilled oral surgeon. Both my kids had wisdom teeth removed here and while the experiences were different, we are pleased with the service and cost. My son had his top teeth out and his recovery was super smooth. He did as asked and was eating normal food in 2 days. No swelling at all! My daughter had all 4 out and had a much rougher time. Super swelling going on and eventually we had to go back out of concern for infection. They flushed the sockets and gave another antibiotic. This helped get her on the road to recovery. Her time to normal food was a week and total healing almost 2 weeks. Just overall a harder recovery. but they were great about appointments and helping her to heal. Insurance paid above what the office said it would and I had the refund super quick in both cases. They called to let me know it was already refunded. Highly recommend this office. It's only fitting that I attended Dr. Chins practice on blue Friday. A went in for a consultation on Wednesday and got all four of my wisdom teeth pulled Friday. After a pleasant discussion on Jimmy Grahams homecoming, and whether he or not he was on the #FireBevell Train; the anesthesia quickly kicked in and time passed by quickly as I inhaled the pleasant fumes of laughing gas finding it quite fitting after that joke of a Sunday Night Cardinals game. After getting assisted out of office by a member of the fellow staff, I finally realized why Percy left games so frequently. The feeling of being assisted to the lockerroom felt amazing. Anywho after a quick nap back home and popping some oxycotin for the first time, I felt amazingly great. I whipped out my laptop and started to answer some emails and watched Paul Rudd play with some ants. Despite drolling blood constantly for the entire day, my energy levels seem great, and I felt productive. Productive enough to get on yelp sorta half delirious and high and write this review. Getting your wisdom teeth is like kicking a 53 yard field goal. Sure nobody really would want to do it, but when it's the only option you want the best kicker. And I for one am glad I had the best. I came here for a dental implant surgery and possible bone graft (but ended up not needing the bone graft). Dr. Chin and his staff are friendly and professional. I had to work closely with his staff to get an accurate estimate for my out-of-pocket costs. This was tricky because (a) I have secondary insurance, and (2) I potentially needed a bone graft if my bone wasn't wide enough for the implant, and we wouldn't know until I actually went under. Even with this varying factors, they were friendly and worked through the insurance issues with my insurance companies. I had never been under general anesthesia before, and staff and Dr. Chin made me very comfortable. The surgery was surprisingly quick and easy. Dr. Chin even called me around 10 that night to make sure I was doing ok. I was impressed by the personal contact, knowing that he has a full practice and a young family! I had my most expensive dental procedure done here in 9/2016. I choose Dr. Chin because the convenience of the location and reviews from others. Maybe I was spoiled by many other great dentists and Oral Surgeons in my life. Dr. Chin and his assistant were pretty rough during the whole procedure. The tools/instruments were very uncomfortable and painful at times on my lip. He even put a 1/4" cut on my lip. But nobody seem to notice it. He has gone and to his next client as soon as the activities were done within my mouth. Not even a word from him again. I only realized it's over when the assistant removed everything from my body and talked to me about after-care. Now I have a permanent scar on my lip and I see it every day whenever I apply lipstick/chapstick. Maybe I have to train myself to stop using a mirror up close so hopefully I can forget about this scar. read more

I as referred to Dr. Chin when my dentist found through an x-ray that my wisdom teeth were coming in. I'm so glad I scheduled an appointment months out, because the week I was supposed to get them out, they started to become visible and annoy me. Dr. Chin and everyone at the office were extremely kind and explained everything to me. I got to see the 3D scan of my skull and how the teeth would come in if allowed. They even gave me a blanket before I went under to keep me warm and comfortable. All four teeth came out whole and the entire procedure just went well. You can tell that Dr. Chin has been doing this a long time, especially since he only does wisdom teeth removals on Fridays. Dr. Chin even responded to me texting him with a concern post procedure, assuring me everything was normal. I highly recommend him for getting wisdom teeth out. Overall: Gentle and non-noticeable surgery I was referred to Roger Chin for the extraction of my impacted wisdom tooth. Their office is conveniently situated across from Factoria, Bellevue and is exceptionally easy to find with ample free parking. The office is neat and clean, with a waiting area holding 6-8 chairs and the receptionist was polite and friendly. My initial consultation was at 13:15, however I wasn't called in until 13:40. I had to have a panoramic x-ray, but the assistant made a mistake and had to repeat it - obviously these people don't care about excessive x-ray exposure (MINUS 1 star). I was shown a video about wisdom teeth and she tried to convince me to remove all of my wisdom teeth (MINUS 1 star). (Funniest thing is that I only had two wisdom teeth showing, with no signs of the other two). I eventually saw Roger Chin at 13:50 - he is a soft spoken, polite man who went over any concerns I had and briefly examined my mouth. When I went in for my surgery, everything was AMAZINGLY pleasant. I was prepped up and then given laughing gas, followed by some intravenous anesthesia - I asked to be put to a light drowsy sleep. I was sure that I didn't fall asleep, yet I don't remember them hacking away in my mouth - so I must have. Before I knew it, I noticed them taking all the wires off me etc and was told to go to the recovery room. Recovery room? I wasn't even sure they had done anything until I felt the swab in my mouth - haha!! Well, in that respect it was good! I didn't like the fact I had to still go to the pharmacy to pick up my pain killers though. I didn't speak to Roger Chin immediately after surgery, but he did call me at home at 20:30 to check that everything was ok. In summary, I would highly recommend this place if you're at all nauseous about any type of oral surgery. Roger Chin does a great job of making you feel as comfortable as possible and my recovery rate was exceptionally quick. However, it's unlikely that I would go back unless I was referred. read more

I recently got my four wisdom teeth extracted at Doctor Chin's. I was really worried about 2 bottom teeth that were partially in bone. Plus my teeth had fully grown its size after years of delay. I got sutures at each wound, and in the first 8-10 hours my mouth would keep gradually accumulating blood. However, I'm amazed that I did not get too much swelling and 24 hours after surgery I couldn't almost feel any pain. 48 hours later I could eat as normal. Suggestion to people who may read this: do strictly follow doctor's prescription (antibiotics and pain killer), and read carefully the brochure he gave you about after surgery care. That keeps you away from infection. One last thing, the cost is not low :( read more

I'm afraid of anything needle, for god sake I fainted everytime I got vaccine shots. I would never think of getting my wisdom teeth out unless I felt so miserable like I did a couple weeks ago. I was super nervous when I came in for the surgery to remove my 4 wisdom teeth - 2 of which was impacted. They gave me the laughing gas, I was so tense that it did nothing! My heart beat so fast when they ask me to squeeze the ball to find my vein for the IV. Then the doctor squeeze something cold on my vein and that's all I remember, I didn't even remember the IV coming in. Next thing I know, they ask me how I'm doing, I couldn't talk because there was stuff in my mouth and that's when I realized that the surgery was done already. I iced my cheeks the entire day after I get home, expecting that I will get chipmunk cheeks because both my bf and his sister warned me about that. But no chipmunk cheek whatsoever. I've heard that the more force they had to put in to remove my teeth, the more swollen it would be. So no chipmunk cheeks means Dr. Chin was very gentle. I also didn't have any jaw stiffness like people warned me. If I knew it was this easy, I would have taken my wisdom teeth out a long time ago. Thanks Dr. Chin! read more

I have few reference points to base my opinion of Dr. Chin since I have never had my wisdom teeth removed before... but all I can say so far is wow! I had minimal jaw pain, minor swelling (I did ice) and pretty minor pain. The worst part was waiting for the blood to clot on the first day. And not being able to eat real food. I didn't need to take any of the pain meds and was fully functional all day after the surgery (possibly also because I didn't take additional pain meds). The process for the surgery was really smooth. Came in, sat down, laughing gas, IV... next thing I knew I was in the resting room slightly delirious. Apparently I made a handful of texts to friends that I don't remember... fortunately nothing too incriminating (I would advise not having your cell phone with you immediately after surgery). So all-in-all a good time (or at least as good a time you can have going to surgery). I would highly recommend Dr. Chin... although I can't assume my experience will be the same as yours. I would go into it expecting the regular recovery time and experience. A definite five star experience when compared to the stories of friends and family who used different surgeons... read more

My surgery went really well yesterday. Dr. Roger Chin and his staff were so caring throughout the process. Today is my second day and I don't feel much pain at all. Dr. Chin called me at 10pm to check on me (great service) to see if I am dying or not hehe. I had my first tooth pulled out back home from a different surgeon (terrible experienced) and it hurt so bad and this why I hesitated to go to any oral surgeons. I first went to Dr. Chin in 2007 to have 2 wisdom teeth removed, 1 of which had fractured at the gumline. After it was over I was sorry that I didn't choose to have all 4 removed at once. It was totally painless, not like extraction stories I had heard of in the past. In February 2011 I had another old filling in a wisdom tooth on my left side fracture, so again Dr. Tuan Nguyen referred me to Dr. Chin. Again it was painless...I never even bothered to fill the prescription for pain relief. Everything about Dr. Chin's practice was excellent, from the moment you walk in the door until the time you leave. All the staff are friendly and professional, and both times Dr. Chin called me late on a Friday night to make sure that I was doing fine. This past summer my teenager had four wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Chin. He was nervous but Dr. Chin and his staff did a great job of calming his nerves. The procedure went fine and he was back to normal after 3-5 days, if I remember (swelling gets worse, I think about 3 days into recovery, which is normal). We also consulted Dr. Chin for a dental accident that my other son sustained. Too complex to go into, but Dr. Chin is knowledgeable and easy to work with. Furthermore, his staff goes the extra mile to work with the insurance companies. Out of the 5-6 other dentists we have had to see (2 prosthodontists, a periodontist, orthodontist, and two general dentists) his staff was by far the best at working with insurance. I ended up getting TWO dry sockets and had to go back every day for 5 days to get the packings changed or for other random things and I was treated so nicely each time. I was very worried about getting my wisdom teeth out as I have heard horror stories on this type of surgery, on top of the normal discomfort with the idea of surgery. I have to say that this was hands down the best experience that I could have imagined of this nature. Dr. Chin's office was very calm and comfortable with the idea and first scheduled me for a consultation, where they went in detail about the surgery, what it entails, and how my body was suited for it. When the actual surgery came, they brought me in, asked if I had any last minute questions, and helped arrange a ride. I was given an anesthetic and was asleep for what felt like a moment, and everything was done when I woke up. They sent me off with some helpful information booklets as to what to do after, and made the whole thing easy. I didn't feel a thing, and within the second day I was chewing normal food again (I got all 4 removed) which leads me to believe that he did a stellar job. I have had minimal soreness and discomfort, and am on day 6 chewing normally, I really didn't even need the pain pills. Overall, this went 5x better than my original "best case scenario". With minimal pain and an easy process I have to say that I would recommend Dr. Chin to anybody and if I was ever doing something like this again, he is who I would go to. *Side Note* They check your insurance for you while you are discussing the surgery with the doctor in the consultation and give you the information about your insurance before you leave. I had 2 implants placed by Dr. Chin. The whole procedure took about a 6 months but I'm very happy with the result. I had two teeth knocked out and they were broken off. Dr. Chin worked with my dentist so I could get the broken teeth removed and have temporary teeth right away. The implants were put in right when the teeth were taken out. So happy everything could be done at one time because I really don't like to go to the dentist. I really liked how Dr. Chin worked with my dentist to get things done :) read more

If you have Premera insurance, do NOT go to this office! Any work that you need done other than teeth and gums is considered a medical claim. Apparently Dr. Chin's office staff is unaware of this. Insurance stated that his office should have billed my claim under medical and not dental. I was referred to Dr. Chin by my regular Dentist. When I made the appointment to see Dr. Chin, I was assured by the office staff that my visit was covered under insurance. Big mistake to trust them. The office staff billed my visit to Dr. Chin under dental and I'm only covered for 2 dental visits a year. This completely messed up my 2 cleanings/dental check-ups a year and I've been dealing with this bill for the last 6 months. Dr. Chin's office had to refund insurance. Now I'm out of pocket for this visit. Dr. Chin's office staff does not know whether your insurance will cover any visits or procedures so do yourself a favor and find out FIRST with insurance. If I had gone through this procedure with Dr. Chin, they would have billed it under dental and I would've been out-of-pocket hundreds of dollars. (The quote was for over $500) I eventually went to another Oral Surgeon who is a DDS as well as a MD and they billed my visit and procedure under medical and it was completely covered with zero out-of-pocket costs to me. I called Dr. Chin and he never returned my call about this matter. When I asked my regular Dentist to contact Dr. Chin, his response to my regular Dentist was that he would "take care of it". My regular Dentist assumed this meant he was going to wipe out the bill but instead, Dr. Chin sent the bill to Collections! It shows you where his priorities are. If you like to pay extra out-of-pocket costs to be treated poorly, then you should definitely go to this office. Otherwise stay away from this place. read more

His staff is so sweet and caring, he is very honest and informative, I couldn't have asked for a better group. I have heard so many horror storied about tooth extractions so I was very nervous, but the only thing I remember was Dr. Chin saying they would take care of me, and they did because I didn't feel anything for the surgery, and post surgery I had NO swelling, and barely any pain, I filled my pain medication prescription but I never needed it, this surgery really couldn't have gone any better! Dr. Chins staff is wonderful, they make you feel at home and provide you with the best experience that you can get, despite having to get surgery for your wisdom teeth. They took care of my insurance and found me the lowest rate, making sure that I understand everything before I leave the office. When I was told that I would need to have my wisdom teeth removed, I was referred to Dr. Chin. I decided to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once under IV anesthesia. Dr. Chin's staff was amazing. Not only were they knowledgable and personable, they were also compassionate and welcoming. I met Dr. Chin on two occasions. He was polite, informative, empathetic, and took the time to answer all of my questions in detail to ensure that I knew exactly what was going to happen - I can't say that about all medical personnel nowadays. I was referred to Dr. Chin by my regular dentist who talked about Dr. Chin as an excellent oral surgeon and a gentleman. I found both to be true. The care I received from Dr. Chin and his staff was excellent. Every step was explained to me, I was told what to expect after surgery and, when I had questions or concerns I was invited to come in and all of my concerns were answered. I appreciate the professionalism and the genuine care I received as their patient. I do hope I don't need their help again but, if I do, I know that I am in excellent hands. I find that my experience with Dr. Chin is very similar to others that express that they had a good experience... I had no issues with payment or insurance, in fact, I was due a refund due to a small over estimation of the costs of my surgery and that refund happened without my involvement (there was a friendly phone call letting me know that it was coming).
