She did go to a specialist, but towards the end, it was Dr.Sim who took care of her needs. Every time I go to see him, I thank him for the great care he took of my mom and my dad. My mom passed away in February 2025. As things got more difficult, I appreciated that my sister or I just had to call Dr. Sim, tell him what was going on, and he would call in an appropriate medication. I also need to add that he is my trusted physician. I have several medical issues. He has guided me to the correct specialist if it is something that he feels would be better cared for in that realm. When I had something that would not go away back in 2021, he was the first to tell me my symptoms sounded like Rhumationd Arthritis. I went to a specialist for autoimmune issues. The physician, after several tests, concluded the same thing. Dr. Sim is very intelligent. I am so glad that someone like him is nearby my home. My husband sees him. My oldest son sees him. We all know we are getting the best of care with him.

This has been and continues to be a disturbing and stressful experience. My mother, who has…read moredementia and is an active patient under Dr. Diana Hsu's care, was left without essential medications during a transition to a neurologist. Both neurology offices confirmed that providing a temporary refill is standard practice for primary care physicians in this situation. Despite this, Dr. Hsu refused to refill the prescriptions, stating it was outside her specialty--leaving her own patient without medication. We were forced to escalate through insurance and go to urgent care to obtain medications that are routinely managed in primary care. In addition, our experience with the office staff was extremely frustrating. We often encountered confusion around basic insurance and care coordination questions and had to repeatedly follow up ourselves to move things forward. This added unnecessary stress during an already difficult situation. For a vulnerable patient with dementia, this lack of continuity of care and coordination is extremely concerning and raises serious ethical concerns, as going without necessary medication places a dementia patient at risk. This experience raises serious concerns about the standard of care being provided, especially for vulnerable patients such as those with dementia, where continuity of care is critical. Due to the seriousness of this situation, we will be reporting this through appropriate regulatory channels. Patients should be aware of how situations like this may be handled. We are immediately seeking a primary care provider that ensures appropriate and consistent care moving forward.

Be wary. Huge misdiagnoses from Venugopal, and prescribing potent medication to a 1-year old. I…read morerecommend retiring Dr. Venugopal. My daughter had rashes through out her body, and without even looking in her mouth (key), he diagnosed her with chicken pox. Not only that, but he prescribed a high percentage of hydrocortisone ointment to use on her face. Thankfully we refused to give her the ointment after suspicion, and took her to the ER. It turns out, with a simple look in her mouth, it ended up being HFM (hands foot mouth) disorder. And the physician there told us not to use the dangerous dose of medication Dr Venugopal prescribed. I wouldn't recommend him. Sadly, the only two decent pediatric physicians in this network are him and Dr. Kato, and both have there concerning flaws. I'd rather pick Dr. Kato, who only prescribes antibiotics used in the 80s, than mr dangerous misdiagnoses. On a side note, Dr Venugopal's nurse is nice.

Unfortunately, they closed at 5:30pm, and did not take me in for the reason of my visit today even though they stop seeing patients 15 mins before and I had arrived 30 mins prior to close. Oh well. I then went to my normal Pioneer Group urgent care location in Long Beach, and they had a sign on the door stating they were CLOSED... I experienced some issues with the security officer there also... Finally, I came to the Pioneer Group Downey location... they were open!! Thank goodness. You don't know how overjoyed I was. I signed in, everything was a breeze. They called my name after about 2 mins and I was SEEN by the doctor immediately. She gave me a prescription and I am on my way to wellness. After 3 hours of driving around to see the doctor, I'm so tired but relieved of my frustration. Thank you for the rapid turnaround. I didn't expect to be seen so quickly! I hope to be well and not have to return again.
