A Very unsatisfactory experience for me. Small commercial job in an industry new to them. 1) I was unable to reconcile my billings w deliverables. For example one email reviewed was billed at a full hour ($180.00) yet nothing from that info was put in our plans. When I asked about it they couldn't remember the email or the info at all. With over & $11000.00 in Billings we had little progress and Altho originally I was quoted $12-15,000 total to complete - now was told it is a$30,000 project. 2) they kept saying they needed to be the "Quarterback" for the job. We didn't need that. We just needed drawings. We have a Gen Contractor - told the firm that multiple times but we kept having to circle back to that statement and 3) Altho new to our industry time was spent giving us advice on space usage that was not in our directive to them. We knew what we needed to go where and I felt that was at times ignored in favor of their advice or opinion. A very expensive mistake for me using this company. We are contemplating Arbitration regarding a refund that we asked for but did not receive. Would not recommend. read more

Very sorry I went with this Architect. After spending over $4000 in fees I had to let Roger go. I upgraded to a new Apple computer, bought expensive design software, and the latest version of the Code of Federal Regulations. I poured myself into this project, spending countless hours designing and redesigning my renovation of a 1910 barn that was rebuilt using the the original 1800 Chestnut beams with a second floor apartment. I handed these to Roger, toured the barn, expressed that the beams are central to my design and were intended to showcase the beautiful post and beam method used to build the barn. All I wanted was an Architect to take my ideas and put together a stamped Architectural plan to submit with my building permits. To my dismay at our second meeting, Roger was completely dismissive of everything I had wanted. Roger didn't address any of my key wants; what walls will have windows, where the kitchen should be, a private toilet, where the entry should be, and most importantly, the beams, where were the beams? I asked about the beams multiple times over the next few weeks and was told to forget about them without a clear explanation as to why. So, out of frustration, I hired a Structural Engineer to look at the Post and Beam framing and was offered options on how the beams could be incorporated into the overall framing of the structure. Something Roger refused to consider in our follow up meetings. I showed Roger my local regulations on accessary apartments that limited them to 850 square feet. His first set of plans were well over that limit. And on top of that he handed me a bill for over $2700, and that was on top of the $1300 retainer fee. For a total of 24 hours of billing. Seeing the look on my face and sensing my total disbelief and dissatisfaction, Roger redid the plans to bring them closer to my wants. (Still no beams) Roger said he would redo them for free. Don't you think he should have? The second set of plans were more to my liking and Roger stated he had to spent 13 hours redoing them and he wouldn't charge me. Like he was doing me a favor. I asked about the other 11 hours I was charged and wasn't given a logical response. So, after weeks of back and forth, and Roger asking that a Structural Engineer redo all his framing work, as opposed to just modifying what was already done, I had to let Roger go. In addition, in the three weeks I used to consult the engineer, Roger hired more clients and informed me that i was now in the back of the line for his services. Never mind that he had 4K of my hard earned money. I found Roger to be un-collaborative, dismissive, demeaning, and never felt like I was more than just a paycheck to him. But the piece of mind I will have working with someone who understands I'm paying them for what I want, is worth it. I hope my next Architect offers a better experience. Just my opinion of our short, disappointing relationship. read more
