He's not the cheapest, but he's fair, and it's not worth it to try to lowball.... you'll get what you pay for, believe me. Scott was able to fix my problems and there were no surprises with the bill. He is a great communicator, very talented and detail oriented. I had a small problem with one of his contractors installing incorrect baseboard heaters (both of us were at fault, I bought the wrong wattage and the electrician didn't see the warning.) Scott made sure it was taken care of right away, at no additional charge and he didn't make me feel like I was in the wrong. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

He was very positive when I added a last minute request (conversion of a lamp & its install). He showed up on time and had an impressive tool kit! Throughout the day, he was extremely neat and always cleaned up after him. As somebody who has worked in a museum, I was very impressed with his cleanliness and attention to detail. Scott is very knowledgeable and cares about what he does. Additionally, he makes sure the job he does will last a long time: when he saw the IKEA floating shelf, he explained (very scientifically) why they always fall off the walls and suggested that we install it with an L bracket. That made my day. Despite the amount of jobs I had piled on him, he finished the project in a timely manner. I look forward to hiring him again as more projects come up!

Outstanding Experience with Designer Closet Guys!…read more We couldn't be happier with the service and results from Designer Closet Guys. From the initial consultation to the final installation, the entire process was professional, seamless, and exceeded expectations. Cory took the time to understand exactly what we needed, made some fantastic recommendations and designed a custom solution to maximize space and functionality while looking absolutely beautiful. He highlighted elements that would increase the cost, and helped us understand how to maximize our budget and choose the product that was right for us. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship is exceptional, Cory and his installation team were punctual, friendly, meticulous and FAST! Every detail was thoughtfully executed. If you're looking for a company that delivers stunning designs, top-quality workmanship, and an outstanding customer experience, I highly recommend Designer Closet Guys. They truly deserve five stars!

Cory told me something like the wall is not straight and that is the best he could do. And also adding the rest of the mouldings would costs me more money. Now, after giving some thoughts about the matter, I think Cory did not bring enough edge mouldings to my house and he is too lazy to come back to complete the job. He figure that he can get away with these lies. Also, the manufacturing process is sloppy. The second picture shows that the particle board edge is exposed . In the email, Cory said that there will be 5 year warranty on the closet. I asked him about it, he said the invoice is the warranty. There is no warranty in the invoice. Now I look back at all the 5 star ratings on this company. It turns out that all of them are from before 2018 when the previous owners were in charge. This company under the new owner does not deserve a five star rating. It does sloppy manufacturing and installation job, try to finish the job as quickly as possible and does not treat it's customer correctly. I will not use this company and does not recommend it to anybody. I give it a 1star or 0 star rating. If you want a

As the project progressed Veronika kept us on schedule picking out fixtures well in advance so they could be ordered and arrive when they were needed. STAY AWAY!! DISHONEST, POOR WORK AND TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION…read more I hired them to redo all the engineered hardwood in my place following a flood caused by a dishwasher leak. They caused numerous delays in our repair schedule - nearly 5 months delay at their hands and they're not even attempting to come back and finish the job! Portions of the floor are uneven, not glued down as they are supposed to be, and not flush with other tile surfaces. In fact, a week before the job ought to have been finished, and after several delayed completion dates caused directly by them, my wife was having a baby in the hospital. The company co-owner, D. Murcia, emailed me saying he had removed the material from my place, which we paid for, and the job was half done. Further, he said they were not finishing the job unless I agreed to pay more money and that he spoke to other suppliers telling them not to do our job or provide us replacement product. We were totally HELD HOSTAGE and didn't have a choice but to accept the extortive, unreasonable demands because we needed to bring the baby home asap. Additionally, we paid for a premium product but they installed the grade below what we paid for. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU USE SOMEONE ELSE.

It is simply splendid. From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan , from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. He responded with respect and agreement when we needed to have features corrected. He stands behind his product and workmanship!, The quality of product and workmanship by Canadian Countertops is undeniable; both the kitchen counters, backsplash and fireplace surrounding are perfect. Because of Covid-19, the live wall has not yet been delivered and installed, but this will be done as soon as health restrictions are lifted. Overall, Vancouver General Contractors has delivered well beyond our expectations and we marvel every day at how our home has been transformed. The team was professional, hardworking and produced a high standard of work. Also, I cannot sing high enough praises of Zaineb and Mo, who helped us through the whole process. We highly recommend Vancouver General Contractors!! In fact, we have hired them again to renovate our old bathroom upstairs... the design and material are state of art and it is going to be gorgeous! We impulsively hired VGC for our kitchen renovation because I was naive. I believe they do charge a…read morelot of hidden costs and push these "change order" fees that is ridiculous. They gave us a budget for certain items like say our sink... and because I wanted to choose a more expensive sink than their predicted cost, they were going to charge us a change order fee. It makes no sense, if I want to spend a few hundred dollars more on my sink why do they reap financial benefit from it when they gave us a lowball amount to spend in the first place. We were also plagued with mismanagement of our project. The project manager, Ali, they assigned to us was inexperienced and made several errors that delayed our project. He was definitely hired based on nepotism as he was the best friend of the manager, Hussain. The PM was fairly clueless, luckily my husband is a carpenter and he really had to micromanage many aspects of the project. This is a shame since we thought we were hiring VGC to take the stress of managing the projects ourselves. Then Ali left us halfway through project for personal reason. We did get a better PM, Mo after but he had to deal with the aftermath of the first guy plus the first contractor, Hamid decided to leave our project midway due to a dispute with how the company mismanaged payment to him. I was then harassed for weeks by Hamid to pay him or else he'd put a lien on our home. Meanwhile, the manager Hussain did not check in once to clarify or reassure us that we did not owe the contractor anything outstanding as we made payment on time to VGC. Then Hamid further disclosed that VGC definitely overcharge their clients and he said our project should not have taken as long as it did to complete, which left a very negative feeling for us. I felt anxious throughout thinking Hamid was going to show up and threaten my family and I have small children at home, it was not a good feeling. There was also design flaws where calculations were flawed and it required my husband to step in and alter the design and measurements. All in all the project was a disaster for us and we do feel overcharged. I do not recommend them. They were not professional and the trades they hire are also not professional. Don't be persuaded by the smooth salesman pitch from the manager, it's all smoke and mirrors because when things went wrong they definitely didn't care about their customer.

What I want to say is that I have known Lyle Dueck for more than thirty years and he is not only one of the best designers that I have ever met but he is also one of the most ethical people in the business. I have worked with him in the early 80's both in Vancouver and Los Angeles. I am sorry for Karia and I do not know the story and neither did I ask Lyle. I am not emitting an opinion on what did or did not occur but if I had anybody design a kitchen for my wife and me, I would go to Lyle without reserve. I hope things got resolved eventually and we have to remember that there are always two sides to a story. As a disclaimer I want to say that I am a Designer of high end kitchens in West Hollywood, with projects in Beverly Hills, Bel Air and gated communities around Los Angeles with more than 35 years in the Kitchen industry.

While I was very happy with the design of the kitchen, (considered two stars but no, I'm too upset over the treatment we have received) my husband and I have not been happy with the paint on our expensive wood cabinets and had Nickel's service person over (finally) on June 30 this year. They flat out told me they were not standing up well, took photos, and said we would hear back from him very soon with their plan to fix it. (Cabinets 4 and a half years old, only two people who are very particular and careful which the service person said was obvious, and we are here only six months of the year). I then let Lyle know what they said, and asked him if this problem wouldn't just repeat itself, and his answer was: "no, they have a better paint now and they will take care of you." I first contacted Lyle about the cabinet issues two years ago, with several emails last year, and we finally got the above service call this summer. This summer after the service call, when not hearing from Nickels cabinets for several months despite the assurances I received, I sent several emails to Lyle (which he failed to even have the courtesy to respond to) so I finally asked my designer to assist, and due to her we were told yesterday that Nickels now suddenly can't see a problem with the paint. The classic run-around. This was the complete opposite of what the Nickels service person said when he was here. Now Nickels want Lyle to come here to assess the problem - excuse me, I stayed home a whole day for Nickels own trouble shooter and Lyle has had two years to come here and see what the problem was? No thanks. They have achieved their objective because I would rather pay to have them redone than deal with people like this, however I would like to warn other people not to expect their "dream" kitchen as I did because they will be sadly disappointed and disillusioned. I thought that having a cupboard contractor meant that you wouldn't have to deal with this crap. Apparently not. Will now have the huge hassle of finding someone GOOD and having them redone at our own cost as we refuse to even think about dealing with either of these companies any further. We are so unhappy with these cabinets. If you want cabinets that are all shiny behind every handle and in other places too, and a terrible service response, be sure and contact Westwerk and/or Nickels cabinets.

Electricians, plumbers, drywall, design, etc. Tom was so good at keeping the job on time, co-ordinating all trades people and very close to my budget and his original estimate. I had two estimates done, his was the lower one which scared me a little. I did not choose him strictly because of price but he was also available sooner. I had a time-frame and he met that with days to spare! If you have a project and even if you only need another estimate or opinion I feel you would only be happy that you gave him a call and have him out to take a look. The transformation is amazing. He even did extras like mounting the TV and touching up the paint! We are very happy with the results. Thank you Tom!
